Patios del Orfebre, Córdoba

Standard
Humble hotel in a 16th-century patio house with the option for rooms that include rooftop terraces

Overview

Experience Córdoba's famous terraces by staying at Patios del Orfebre, a 16th-century home with a preserved inner courtyard patio. Set in the Jewish Quarter, you'll be around the corner from the 14th-century city gate, Puerta de Almodóvar, and all the major sites are within walking distance. Rooms are basic but sufficient, and you can opt for a unit with a private rooftop terrace.

Pros
  • This small boutique hotel is within a historic 16th-century "patio" house—a traditional design where the inner courtyard patio is the focal point—and contains original stone walls, columns, and wooden ceilings.
  • You'll be on the edge of the Jewish Quarter, just down the street from the 14th-century city gate, Puerta de Almodóvar, and within walking distance to sites like the Córdoba Synagogue, Mezquita-Catedral, and Puente Romano.
  • The suite category includes two sofas, a dining area, and a private rooftop terrace with views of the Old Town and Mosque-Cathedral.
  • The patio is a great place to relax, and you can check out the display of archeological ruins in the inner courtyard.
Cons
  • The hotel doesn't serve breakfast.
  • Though the building is beautiful and historic, the rooms are basic with standard and slightly outdated furnishings.

Authenticity

Enjoy staying in a renovated 16th-century patio house, a very traditional and beloved architectural design of Al-Andalus (the Muslim-ruled area of what's known as the Iberian Peninsula today). You'll find original stone walls, arches, columns, wood-beamed ceilings, iron balconies, and a small display of archeological ruins.

Location

You'll stay on the edge of Córdoba's historic Jewish Quarter, placing you within walking distance of numerous sites. The 14th-century city gate Puerta de Almodóvar is just down the street, and the Córdoba Synagogue is a three-minute walk. You can also easily stroll to the Mezquita-Catedral and Puente Romano in less than 10 minutes and Plaza de la Corredera in about 15 minutes.

Rooms & Bathrooms

The hotel's history and preserved building are definitely its charms, but the rooms and bathrooms fit the basic, standard category. They are rather simple with outdated furnishings, though all have dining areas and minifridges, plus modern and clean bathrooms. Book early to secure one of the suites, some of which have sofas, dining tables, and private rooftop terraces with views of the Jewish Quarter.

Other Highlights

Patios del Orfebre is a fairly typical standard hotel, so you won't find much in amenities or perks here—besides the building's beauty and history, of course. However, you can enjoy the patio day and night and check out the hotel's small display of archeological ruins in the courtyard, which many rooms directly face.
