Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Itatiaia Park - Hike Prateleiras Peak
On the first day of Itatiaia trekking, you'll be picked up from your lodging in Rio de Janeiro and head to the park. The drive is about 4 hours long. After checking in at the park, walk the upper path of Itatiaia Park, past the main rock formations of Itatiaia Park: Pedra do Sino Peak, Couto Peak, Prateleiras Peak, and more.
In the afternoon, you'll arrive at your mountain shelter, named ‘Abrigo Rebouças.’ From there, take the trail to Prateleiras Peak, a fun and challenging hike through giant boulders, completed with the assistance of rock climbing equipment. From the summit, take in the amazing view of Pico das Agulhas Negras, which you'll climb the next day.
Descend back to camp before sunset, and enjoy dinner around the campfire. Rest up for another day of adventure in Brazil's oldest national park.

Day 2: Agulhas Negras Summit - Transfer back to Rio
On the second day of trekking, wake up with the sun and start your climb to Agulhas Negras Peak. Pico das Agulhas Negras is the highest point in the state of Rio, a technical hike full of adventure—the guides will assist you with technical climbing equipment.
From the summit of Pico das Agulhas Negras, you will have a 360º view as far as the horizon, the best view of the whole Itatiaia Park. Enjoy a well-deserved rest at the top, before descending the trail to the national park headquarters where we will check out. You'll head back to your lodgings in Rio de Janeiro to rest, recover, and celebrate your successful hike.
