Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Bali, Transfer to Munduk & the Northern Highlands

Watch the sunset over Munduk's surrounding mountains
Selamat datang, welcome to the Indonesian island of Bali! Meet your driver outside the Ngurah Rai International Airport and transfer to Munduk, a village in the serene, northern highlands of the island. You'll enjoy scenic views of the lush landscapes and rice terraces along the two-hour drive. When you arrive, check into your hotel, and relax or head out to start exploring the area on your own. Walk into the village, passing by coffee and clove plantations, and head to Ngiring Ngewedang Restaurant & Coffee Corner for stunning views over the forested mountains paired with a delicious coffee or cocktail.

Day 2: Tour Munduk & Tamblingan Lake, Visit Aling Aling & Gitgit Waterfalls

Visit Ulun Danu Tamblingan temple on the shores of Tamblingan Lake

Get a deeper look at Munduk and its surroundings on a guided tour this morning. Walk through plantations in the countryside to reach hidden waterfalls and cool off with a swim or relax on the rocks before continuing on your walk to Tamblingan Lake. Admire this ancient crater lake from its shores or glide across the water in a canoe if the weather permits. Visit the small temples dotted around the lake's shores, including the 10th-century Hindu temple of Ulun Danu Tamblingan. Enter the temple grounds to see the intricate stone carvings and traditional Balinese architecture to end your tour.

In the afternoon, set off on a self-guided visit to the 114-foot (35 m) tall Aling Aling Waterfall, nestled in the tropical rainforest. After a 10 to 15-minute walk to the falls, you can jump in the cool waters, zip down the natural rock waterslide, or jump off the surrounding cliffs if you're feeling brave. When you're ready, head to the smaller twin waterfall, Gitgit. Enter the dense tropical greenery and start the short walk to the falls. As you get close, the cool mist in the air will refresh your senses. Swim in the emerald pool at the waterfall's base and take in the tranquility of your surroundings before heading back to the hotel.

Day 3: Trek to Umejero Waterfall, Enjoy a Balinese Massage

Enjoy a traditional Balinese massage after trekking to hidden waterfalls

Today, you'll visit one of the lesser-known waterfalls in the area of Umejero Village. Be careful as you traverse the steep, uphill route to the falls, but the journey will be worth it as you're greeted by the cascading water surrounded by lush vegetation. It's primarily locals who visit this hidden gem, so you can get a glimpse at the daily life of Umejero's residents and practice your Balinese greetings along the way.

After a dip in the natural pool under the falls, walk 25 minutes to Santhipala Waterfall, a triple waterfall said to have healing powers. You may even have the whole area to yourself, so enjoy the serene atmosphere before returning to Munduk. After all that walking, head to a nearby spa for a relaxing afternoon, choosing from services such as Balinese body and foot massages.

Day 4: Transfer to Pemuteran, Hike to Sekumpul Waterfall

Trek to the tallest waterfall in Bali, Sekumpul Waterfall
Plan your trip to Indonesia
Chat with a local specialist who can help organize your trip.
Say goodbye to the tropical rainforest of Munduk and meet your driver for the 1.5-hour transfer northwest to Pemuteran, a quaint village along the coast. Settle into your hotel, then choose between a one, two, or three-hour guided trek to visit Sekumpul, the tallest waterfall in Bali. Walk through quaint villages, cross over rivers, and admire the bamboo forests on your hike to reach this dramatic 262-foot (80 m) cascade. Cool off with a swim in the waterfall's pool, letting the water refresh and reinvigorate you before hiking back to the village.

Day 5: Snorkeling Trip to Menjangan Island, Free Time in Pemuteran

Snorkel in the crystal-clear waters surrounding Menjangan Island

One of the best ways to see Bali is by water, so you're off to Bali Barat National Park this morning to jump on a boat cruise to Menjangan Island. Get your snorkel gear on and dive into the crystal-clear waters to see this protected area's colorful coral, tropical fish, sea turtles, and reef sharks. After exploring the island's underwater world, head to the sandy shores to relax and enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to Pemuteran.

You have the rest of the afternoon to yourself, so you can head back to the hotel to rest or explore the village on your own. Visit the nearby Pemuteran Beach, known for its black and yellow sand, or if you've had enough beach time already today, head to Pulaki Temple instead, one of the largest temples in northern Bali. Enter this coastal Hindu temple to admire its stone carvings adorned with colorful offerings, and keep an eye out for the playful monkeys who reside here.

Day 6: Transfer to Sanur via Leke Leke Waterfall, Cycle the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces

Cycle through the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Leave one coast behind for another as you transfer to Sanur today, a seaside town on the southeastern coast of the island. Break the 3.5-hour drive up by stopping at Leke Leke Waterfall in the Tabanan Regency. Walk 15 minutes through the dense foliage to reach the 131-foot (40 m) falls emerging from the forest's canopy. Swim in the serene pool and lay among the greenery to dry off before continuing the drive to Sanur.

When you arrive, check into your hotel, then head back out on a bike tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Jatiluwih Rice Terraces. Get your gear and start pedaling along the winding countryside paths. As you cycle through the lush greenery of Bali's most beautiful rice terraces, watch as farmers go about their daily tasks with the help of their buffalo. Stop in a local café for a refreshing drink overlooking the rice fields before returning to town for dinner.

Day 7: Relax on Sanur Beach, Depart

Soak up the sun on Sanur Beach before your flight home
Spend your last day in Bali enjoying the sun on Sanur Beach's golden sand. The water is gentle and shallow, making it the perfect place for your last swim on the island. After enjoying the water, walk along the boardwalk and pop into one of the many cafés or restaurants for a snack before your flight. When it's time, head back to the hotel to grab your bags and start the 3.5-hour transfer to Ngurah Rai International Airport. Sampai jumpa lagi—see you again!
