Your private driver will collect you from the airport and transfer you to the town of Munduk, where you'll check in at Munduk Moding Plantation Resort. Nestled in a working coffee plantation and surrounded by jungle, this 5-star luxury ecolodge offers rooms and villas with private terraces, pools, and an open-air feel that aligns perfectly with the abundant nature around you.
After check-in, you can relax at the hotel, take advantage of the spa amenities, enjoy a dip in the infinity pool, or explore Munduk under your own steam. This northern village, located on the cooler, greener side of the island, has plenty of outdoor activities, from seeking out secluded waterfalls to hiking panoramic vistas.
Those looking to discover Bali's culture won't be disappointed. Munduk is home to the famed water temple, Ulun Danu Bratan, located on Lake Beratan, a lovely, otherworldly spot. Or, for some high-flying fun, head to Munduk's Twin Lakes, where you'll find bridges and swings that take you directly over the water. Tonight, get a good night's sleep as you prepare for tomorrow's adventures.
Day 2: Hiking Tour of Munduk, Tamblingan Lakes & GitGit Waterfall
The day starts early as you embark on a private tour of Munduk's local plantations and waterfalls. Meet your guide and set out on a gentle hike, visiting the various plantations and meeting their owners, then exploring hidden waterfalls and cooling off with a morning swim.
Continue to the shores of Tamblingan Lake, a quiet spot away from the popular tourist trails. Enjoy the views and tranquility of the glass-like waters, and if weather permits, you'll have a chance to see more of the lake with a ride in a traditional canoe. Visit the small temples dotted around the lakeshore, including Pura Ulun Danu Tamblingan, which dates back to the 10th century.
Later, your private guide will take you to GitGit Waterfall, one of the highest cascades in Bali. You'll drive to the trailhead and, from the parking area, take a quick 10-15-minute walk on a paved pathway to the base of the falls. Admire the immense cascades, which drop from close to 130 feet (40 m) in height, and take a dip in the clear, tranquil pools—a great way to cool off after a day of hiking!
Day 3: Hands-On Cooking Class, Traditional Balinese Massage
Discover more of Bali's history and culture with a traditional cooking class. Your driver will collect you from your hotel, and you'll head to Ibu Kitchen, where their chefs will show you how to prepare some of the region's most notable dishes, such as lawar (meat mixed with vegetables), nasi goreng (rice) and satay (grilled meat). Chop vegetables and herbs, grind spices, and delight in a hands-on experience that not only refines your culinary skills but also allows you to connect with the essence of Balinese culture. Afterward, sit down for lunch and conversation with your hosts.
This afternoon, indulge in a rejuvenating and pampering Balinese massage.
