Day 1: Arrive in Bali, Transfer to Ubud, Explore

Welcome to Indonesia! Your flight lands on the island of Bali, part of the Lesser Sunda Islands and known for its rich landscapes, ornate temples, and cultural traditions. Your private driver will collect you from the airport and transfer you to the town of Ubud, where you'll check in at Como Shambala Estate, an award-winning wellness resort, and your home for the next week. Located just outside Ubud and surrounded by lush jungle, you'll find beautifully appointed rooms with traditional Balinese decor, with options for villas with private pools, Jacuzzis, garden areas, and expansive views of the rainforest. 

After you get settled, the afternoon is free for you to explore. Head into town and take a stroll along its charming streets, stopping in at local shops or grabbing a bite at a local restaurant. For souvenirs, visit the Ubud Art Market, where you can find items like silk scarves, handcrafted bags, and fun kites, or if you'd like to get out into nature a bit, make your way to the Pura Gunung Lebah temple and the follow the Campuhan Ridge Walk, an hourlong, fairly easy hike that takes you through rice paddies and palm trees, ending at the top of the ridge. Afterward, see more of the countryside around Ubud with a privately guided rice field excursion. Travel along scenic bike trails that take you through quaint villages, encountering friendly locals and passing by the region's intricately designed temples along the way. Pedal through verdant rice fields as your guide explains local agricultural practices, and come away with a better understanding of the history of rice cultivation on the island. 

Before returning to your hotel, make a stop at the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, home to more than 700 long-tailed macaque monkeys. Established in the 14th century, the sanctuary is considered sacred to the local Balinese, and in addition to curious monkeys, you'll find several ancient Hindu temples. You have the opportunity to see the monkeys in their natural habitat, and if you're lucky, you may even get to feed them. Visitors are advised to be cautious, as the monkeys are still wild animals, and you should always follow the guidelines set by the sanctuary staff.

Day 6: Traditional Balinese Gratitude Ceremony, Dinner at The Cave Bali
