Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Pereira
Welcome to Colombia! Upon arriving in Bogotá, you will continue your journey and take an additional one-hour flight to the coffee region surrounding Pereira. When you land in Pereira, a driver will be waiting for you with a sign that has your name written on it, and they will take you directly to your hotel where you can leave your luggage and relax before you start your adventures in the exciting coffee region. You'll have the night free to wander around the city and grab dinner.
Day 2: Explore Cocora Valley & Coffee Towns
Today, you'll have a leisurely breakfast at your hotel before a driver will arrive to take you to Salento for the day's activities. You'll begin with a visit to the beautiful Cocora Valley where an English-speaking guide will take you to see the tallest palm trees in the world. Once you get to the entrance of the valley, you can either take an easy hike or rent horses to reach the top of a hill with an amazing view.
In the evening, a driver will pick you up in Salento and take you to the nearby coffee town of Filandia. You'll have dinner in town where you'll be able to sample some of the most creative and delicious dishes in Colombia before a driver takes you back to your hotel for the night.
Chat with a local specialist who can help organize your trip.
Day 3: Day-Trip to a Coffee Farm
Today, you'll visit the place of birth and production of one of Colombia’s best coffees. You'll tour a family-owned farm where you'll learn about their facilities, their crops and the entire process that a coffee bean goes through before it lands in the store. An English-speaking tour guide will tell you all about the history of this Colombian family and their role in the coffee industry before you head out to the field to pick your own coffee cherries. After touring the farm, you will take part in a coffee tasting where you will learn to appreciate and enjoy the particular attributes of specialty coffee.
You'll return to Salento where you'll have the evening free, or you can enroll in an optional cooking class led by Colombian chefs.
Day 4: Day-Trip to Pijao & Transfer to Cocoa Farm
Today, a driver will come to pick you up at your hotel and take you on a two-hour drive south to the town of Pijao. Upon arrival, you will begin your day-long tour through the key coffee production sites in the city where you'll meet producers, farmers, and other Colombian people involved in the industry.
Your will then drive to a beautiful cocoa farm where you will be staying for the second part of your trip. Enjoy a delicious dinner with live music!
Day 5: Tour of Cocoa Farm
Today, you have a free day to enjoy the grounds of the beautiful cocoa farm and boutique hotel by bike or by foot. You'll have plenty of activities to choose from, such as birdwatching, a delicious fruit tasting, swimming and relaxing by the pool, or even a ride in a hot air balloon. After having a relaxed morning and early afternoon, you can choose to take a private transfer to the region of Quindo to visit the magnificent botanical garden and butterfly sanctuary.
In the evening, return to your hotel for a delicious meal prepared by the chef, and sleep in complete peace on the farm surrounded by nature.
