Kimkim Trip Reviews for Croatia

This was altogether an amazing trip. All hotel accommodations were excellent and well-situated for our needs and stays were well-allocated. Katja met us in Ljublijana and made sure we understood the tip itinerary and provided us with maps, catamaran tickets, etc. Sedja was an excellent guide for Zagreb, providing us with thorough details of the city to fully enjoy all the city had to offer. After picking up our car, we drove to Ljubljana where we met Katja. We had chosen to do the food tour with Tjasa who provided us with a range of restaurants to truly appreciate the cuisine of Slovenia. We would have liked more time in the city, a real highlight of our trip, and probably should have arranged for a city tour to fully appreciate all that the city had to offer. (Next time!!).

Our next stop, Lake Bled, was memorable for the hike to Vintgar Gorge. Also enjoyed an excellent dinner at Penzion Berc. After an exciting drive over the Vrsic Pass, we stopped to hike although that was a challenge given the tremendous crowds on a beautiful autumn weekend. We were unable to park at switchback "24", but found nice hiking at "22".

On to Kobarid where we had an absolutely amazing dinner with paired wines at Hiso Franco. Truly a great experience and not nearly as expensive as such a fine dinner would cost in the States or in Europe for that matter.

Then on to Rovinj, stopping at the incredible Skocjan Caves, an awesome experience. The hotel Monte Mjulini was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we had rainy weather, but with good rain gear, we enjoyed the town. (The dinner at this hotel was disappointing but the champagne breakfast made up for that experience.) Would love to return to this hotel in the future.

Our next stop was the hilltowns but we could only stop at Groznan as the weather really caved before getting to Motovan. In torrential rains, we drove to Plitvice Lakes National Park but were blessed with very good weather the next day for our walks in the park. We started out very early and had the park almost to ourselves the first two hours. What a gorgeous park this is, another highlight!! After 5 hours of hiking, we set out for Split, Loved our hotel in the middle of the town!! Although crowded during the day, we got up early to take our snapshots of this most interesting town with quite some history!! We perhaps should have taken a guide, but here and there, we listened to other presentations for a few minutes, enabling us to view interesting places.

After giving up our car, we took the catamaran to Hvar, also a lovely town. As we had ample time, we took the bus to Stari Grad in addition to our most enjoyable 11/12 mile hike (and swims!!) on the coast to Milna (as suggested). We also visited the Huljic Winery where we had an excellent dinner but were somewhat disappointed in not seeing the winery itself. We did, however, understand that we were there at harvest time with little time for tourists. By the way, each and every wine in both Slovenia and Croatia were absolutely incredible!! As was the food!!

After our catamaran trip to Dubrovnik, we were introduced to the city by Ivo, our guide, who gave us a thorough orientation to the city including its history. Excellent guide!!

So sadly our trip came to an end. Each day was highly varied and exciting. Miha did an excellent job of outlining our trips. His communication with us was excellent in planning the details of the trip. Couldn't have wished for more. The itinerary gave us lots of choices!!

The only disappointing experience of the trip was with the SIXT rental company. We had to insist that the agent in Zagreb show us exactly where our car was (would not have found it without her!!). The agent in Split was very rude when we had difficulty locating the parking lot which was not at the same place as the office. It would be helpful in the future if we had the address of the parking lot rather than the office in Split.

All of our lodging, transports and activities were well done and suited our needs perfectly. The tour guides added so much to our understanding of the culture/ history/ people...most of them exceptional! So many wonderful experiences, hard to choose a favorite...kayaking, hiking Plitvice, biking/cooking/wine tasting in Konavle, drives cross country, Hvar and Vis, walking the old cities, swimming in the Adriatic, accommodation update on my B Day and locating my luggage which was mistakenly taken....wow! We had a memorable experience and hope to return. We barely scratched the surface of what this lovely country has to offer! Thank you for your exceptional support throughout our two weeks in Croatia. Tomi planned an amazing trip. Everyone we met from the Bed and breakfast hosts to the water taxi driver seemed invested in us having a good time and things going smoothly. They showed us fun things to do in the area and answered all our questions. Communication with tomi and Ivana was prompt throughout and it was overall a wonderful experience. The views on hvar, korcula, and the bike to ston were simply incredible. I would work with tomi again!

My wife and I spent 16 days in Croatia (a country we had never been to) celebrating my 60th birthday. I stumbled across Kimkim and decided to give it a try. This was the best decision we could have made. The booking and payment process was painless and then while on the trip, the checking in and checking out at hotels was completely simple and easy.
But the best thing Kimkim did was connect us to the local Croatian travel specialist Robi. He was a dream to work with. He met us in person on day one of our trip and sat with us to explain everything we would need to know before being left on our own. Believe it or not, every night he would text me to find out how our day was and more importantly to send me the drop-pin for my google maps gps. We were driving a car rental, so this was a huge help.
Robi perfectly walked the fine line of being there for us and not being intrusive. I cannot emphasize enough how valuable and reassuring it was to have Robi available for us during the trip.
Finally, the beauty and unspoiled nature in Croatia made our trip exceed all of our expectations. Thanks to Robi and Kimkim for an amazing experience we won't forget.

I can’t say enough good things about our recent trip to Croatia with the help from Robi at Kimkim.
I’m afraid it was a bit like the movie “If it’s Tuesday it must be Belgium”, but that was only due to our limited time of 8 days. Everything was flawless, I’ve been on previous trips with an escort guide, but Kimkim’s remote guide system was better than having one present. Our day with Gabor on the Peljesac peninsula stopping at wineries on our way to Ston, was a highlight!
Next time we promise to stay longer and we wouldn’t hesitate in using Kimkim again.

We were initially reluctant to reach out to a travel agent to help with this trip (as we never have) but work and life got in the way and we needed local assistance navigating hotels and transportation. We knew from the start, we wanted to see as much of Croatia as possible in a week and did not want to only rely on a car or the ferry service, which complicated things. From the start, Robi was very responsive and patient in providing feedback on various itineraries, as we reached out prior to purchasing our plane tickets. We ended up flying in and out of Dubrovnik, as there was a direct flight from teh United States, which is a somewhat unusual route for traveling. He listened to feedback and easily incorporated suggestions of upgrades and locations of accommodations, when we asked. He also provided reasonably priced accommodations and budget ensuring we had a nice room at each hotel, which we appreciated. Robi also suggested things like private drivers and guides for Split and Dubrovnik, which we had not specifically requested, but made our trip much more enjoyable and relaxing. All drivers and guides showed up as promised and were easy to identify, friendly, and knowledgeable. While we were in Croatia, Robi personally drove from Zagreb to Dubrovnik to meet us our second day and drive us to Korkula. Along the way, he drove us along a scenic route to Ston and provided us an introduction to Korkula, and a history or Croatia. He also provided many local recommendations including use of pinpoint google map sites of where to rent an electric bike, where to eat, how to get to local beaches, where to pick up a rental car in Split, and even where to park at Plitvice Lakes. Robi really went above and beyond what we expected in a travel guide. He was always thinking about how we could get more out of our trip, calling ahead to accommodations with information on when they should expect us, and communicated well with us throughout our trip. We would recommend him to anyone! As this was our first experience with KimKim, we intend to come back for help with future vacations.

Everyone was so accommodating in terms of what my family and I required! Our on-site planner greeted us with nothing but recommendations and the trip could not have gone better!

Everything about working with kimkim and Nico and the team was top notch.. I am in the travel and customer service industry, and I was incredibly impressed with the thoroughness and service we received - 5 stars!

Where do we start!
We were feeling overwhelmed. We only had 8 days and wanted to see as much as possible. My brother contacted Kimkim and Robert got back to him immediately. Between them they crafted a trip that was one of our best ever. Don gave Robert our parameters and he flew with it, choosing the very best accommodations, organising a car rental, planning all of our transfers.........
it worked like a charm, and it was all basically remote control, every evening or the day of, we got our reminder updates. Our accommodations were amazing, small (and I mean small - 3 room hotels), and absolutely charming, we never would have found them ourselves. The rental car, ferries, assorted drivers all just clicked along, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Goran ( our driver from Orbic to Ston on the Peljesac peninsula, then the next day to Dubrovnik, was a treasure.
We were, as well, happy to have an opportunity to meet Robi at on of the wineries we were visiting with Gorman.
This is a beautiful part of the world and given our wonderful experience with Kimkim, we would love to return to see more!

My son and I had the most amazing trip to Croatia and it was all because of the incredible planning that Veselka provided. Absolutely everything (hotels, experiences, tours and transportation) was perfect. She checked in with us regularly to ensure everything was going according to plan and she even adjusted when our flight was cancelled and we needed to change our arrival location. I simply cannot recommend Veselka enough. She exceeded all of our expectations!

We had an absolute amazing experience with KimKim and enjoyed our trip thoroughly in Croatia. Josipa especially was extremely helpful, and checked in on every little details. Will definitely recommend KimKim to others.

We had a fantastic trip to Croatia. I wish we were there right now. Thank you Robi for planning all the places we wanted to go and adding more places that we didn’t even know we wanted to visit. We enjoyed everywhere we went. Robi helped us quickly plan two days of boating. We loved boating around Hvar and around Dubrovnik! The captains knew really neat places to swim, snorkel, and eat. Robi also found us and delivered all the tickets we needed. I don’t know if we had a favorite place, but the two national parks were amazing. The food was great everywhere we went. Thank you Goran for the tour of Peljesac!

My husband and I had SUCH a great time in Croatia and a wonderful experience with our specialist, Robert! He accommodated our requests every step of the way, adjusting our plan several times to reflect our preferences, and we ended up with an itinerary full of hiking in beautiful places, gorgeous beaches and incredible cities full of history. Robert also met with us in person in our arrival city and went over all aspects of the itinerary on the first day, a really nice personal touch! Some of the highlights for us were the incredible tour guides Robert connected us to in both Split and Dubrovnik, hiking in Plitvice Lakes National Park, and wine tasting on the Peljesac Peninsula. Best of all, everything was so EASY- every time we had a question, from where to eat in each place to what do if there was bad weather, we were able to communicate with Robert on WhatsApp and get the answers we needed really quickly. We are now home from the most amazing trip to Croatia! Our sincere thanks to Ivana and Jelena for planning the perfect trip for our family.The task they had was not an easy one, having to consider all of our interests and varying ages and energy levels. The communication during planning was so easy with them responding quickly via email. They came up with an itinerary that was flawless and combined plenty of land and water activities. So delighted you helped rework the program to include two days on the boats so we could experience smaller islands and swim in the sea! ALL of the tour guides (Maris, Anna, Dom), drivers (Steve), hotels, restaurants were top notch. Everyone was where they were supposed to be when they were promised making the trip so effortless. We especially like the special trips planned such as the day with Mario and his family and their winery! What an experience ! Going to the fish/butcher/fresh markets with Tatiana and listening to music while we each worked at preparing the delicious meal with her! Love her and her husband and their lovely home!! Ivana, thanks for arranging the birthday cake with Stuart! You two were very sneaky!!! While I chickened out of the canyoning trip (and glad I did) the rest of the family said it was outstanding in every way. I also want to thank Ivana for being available to us while we on the trip to update us and answer any question. We already miss Croatia! My highest recommendations to your outstanding company!

We had a wonderful trip to Croatia. Robi did a great job of showing us the real Croatia. It was beautiful from the north to the south. We had seven people ranging in age from 10 to 68, and Robi was flexible and accommodating, which allowed us to better enjoy the experience.

An enjoyable experience despite the heat. We cycled through some lovely countryside and John made sure that the pace suited everyone. He also coped magnificently with two punctures en route. The wine tastings lived up to expectations.

My husband & I had a wonderful experience using Kimkim! Our specialist Marina was amazing, and SO on top of every detail.
We had recently (after using a few “travel agents” of the past) been planning our own trips, feeling it was the only & best way to truly experience things the way we want. But we were low on time with the planning of this trip ( it takes a LOT, especially in a country where the language is not yours & you’re having to rely on the advice/reviews of people whose style of traveling may not be the same).
Marina was super knowledgeable about Croatia, the place she lives, and helped with every concern we had, and more. Besides that, she was kind, professional, thorough & friendly. Marina helped us create a memorable journey through Croatia starting at Split, to Hvar then up to Zadar by car, to Plitvice Lakes, onward through Istria to Rovinj and Pula.
The apartments Marina booked for us were just right for our trip, within walking distances of what we wanted to see and perfect for the way we travel, with a kitchen to prepare snacks and meals. Our landlords were all very nice. We recommend them all to other travelers.
The ferry rides and the car rental worked perfectly. We got to see much more of the non-touristy areas when we were driving north and even detour to a winery we wanted to visit.
Marina stayed in contact with us all along the way making sure we were happy. We even met her in her home town of Tragir, spent some time getting to know each other. It gave us a chance to thank her personally for all the work she did. She brought gifts for us as well! We felt like we made a long time friend.

We were very pleased with the service we received from Kimkim and their travel partner AndAdventure. Our questions and requests were answered promptly and professionally.

Our trip sailing the islands of Dalmatia was awesome! Veselka took care to respond to all of our requests on details. The master stroke was Dubravko--the owner of the 43 foot sailboat that we made home for 5 nights. He treated us as family. We loved hearing the stories and history of Vis, Brac and Hvar. He continuously showed us the places to see "off the beaten path" as well as letting us see the well-known places. Loved Stari Grad--they were having an evening of traditional dance and song for Hvar. He made sure we had front row seats. We had a great time on the water and onshore. I can't imagine a better captain. We really loved everything about the experience.
