What you'll do

Your adventure begins with a convenient pick-up in Tromsø in the early evening, where you'll meet your guide and his enthusiastic team. From there, you'll leave the city lights behind and set out in a comfortable minibus, searching for the clearest skies. Depending on the weather conditions, your journey might take you to the coast around Tromsø or even as far as Finland. The drive itself is part of the excitement, as you'll pass through beautiful landscapes under the guidance of experts who know the best spots to witness the aurora borealis. Upon arriving at the location with the best prospects for clear skies, you'll set up camp and prepare for an evening of sky gazing.

The team will supply warm suits and snow boots to ensure you stay comfortable in the cold. While waiting for the northern lights to appear, you can warm yourself by the campfire, enjoying a hot meal and drinks. If the dancing lights make an appearance, the team will capture high-resolution images of them (and of you) throughout the night, sharing these keepsakes the next morning. And if you bring your own camera, they'll provide tips to help you take equally impressive photos of the lights and the surrounding landscape. Remember, the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and can vary in intensity, so patience is key.

The experience is designed for those willing to partake in a real chase, often requiring long drives and returning late, but the reward is an excellent success rate of finding clear skies and witnessing the phenomenon. Even if Tromsø has cloudy weather, the team expertly navigates to nearby microclimates where clear skies are more likely. Rest assured, the adventure will proceed unless road conditions are unsafe, as challenging nights often yield the best shows.
