What you'll do
Begin your adventure with a pick-up in Tromsø, where a scenic 45-minute transfer will introduce you to the stunning landscapes of northern Troms. As you approach the Sámi camp, your excitement will build with every turn, anticipating the experiences that await you. This family-friendly excursion is perfect for travelers looking to connect with nature and learn about the rich Sámi culture.
Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by the friendly reindeer herd. Get up close with these gentle creatures as you hand-feed them and pet their furry coats. This is an excellent opportunity to capture plenty of photos, ensuring you have lasting memories. The reindeer are accustomed to human interaction and are just as curious about you as you are about them.
After spending quality time with the reindeer, you'll be welcomed into a traditional lavvu, a Sámi tent, to warm up. Inside, you'll be treated to a range of hot beverages, including coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, alongside a hearty lunch of traditional Sámi (meat-forward) stew or a delicious vegetable/lentil soup. As you enjoy your meal, your guide will share intriguing stories and insights about Sámi life, reindeer herding traditions, and survival secrets in the extreme Arctic environment. You'll also get to see cultural Sámi artifacts, enriching your understanding of this heritage.
