This culinary adventure starts when you're picked up from your hotel for the ride to a local venue, where your hosts will take you on a stroll through the nearby gardens to see where the food is grown. Learn about the area's plants and crops, and gain a deep appreciation for the hard work and care that goes into cultivating the most important ingredients in Costa Rican cuisine.
Next, it's time, it's time to get started on the cooking! Stop into the kitchen and meet your skilled chef, who will be your guide for the evening. You'll start things off by mixing up a tropical cocktail, using local ingredients to prepare a refreshing drink like the popular guaro sour. Then, roll up your sleeves as you learn the ins and outs of traditional regional dishes like picadillo (a delicious hash of vegetables and meat) and guisado (a hearty chicken stew), and master the art of the perfect tortilla.
Once you've finished cooking, sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labor. You'll be treated to a menu featuring the dishes you've prepared, along with some additional treats prepared by the chef. This is the perfect time to bond with your fellow travelers, swap stories and travel tips, and savor the unique flavors of Costa Rican cuisine. At the end of the evening, you'll say your goodbyes and transfer back to your hotel.
