Pros
  • The central location puts you in the heart of Athens. You can walk to Syntagma Square, Monastiraki, and Plaka in under 10 minutes.
  • Rooms feel spacious thanks to their open design and details like skylights.
  • Past kimkim guests praise the friendly staff who were always ready to offer recommendations and answer any questions.
  • A free breakfast buffet featuring Greek specialties is offered daily from 7 am to 11 am.
Cons
  • Only one of the three buildings has an elevator, which limits accessibility for some travelers. While porters will bring your bags up, you'll have to take stairs to get to and from the room. For those who require elevator access, be sure to book a room in Building C (Urania House).
  • Some guests have noted that street noise can be a nuisance until bars and restaurants close for the night. Light sleepers might like to request a room on a higher floor or facing away from Athinaidos Street.
  • The sidewalks on Perikleous/Athinaidos streets are narrow, which can pose an issue for those with certain accessibility needs.

Authenticity

Athens Manor Houses is a charming blend of historic and modern luxury, housed in three restored neoclassical buildings dating back to 1897. Each one, named for a Greek muse, retains its historical details, as best seen by the beautiful wrought-iron facade of the main building, Clio (the muse of history). You'll also find extremely high ceilings, stone accent walls, wrought iron balconies, narrow French doors, and modern art that pays tribute to Classical Greece. To honor the historic integrity of two of the buildings, Clio and Erato (the muse of lyrical poetry).

Location

Located between the historic districts of Plaka and Monastiraki, Athens Manor Houses is an excellent base for guests to get out and explore the city on foot. Monastiraki Flea Market is 6 minutes away, Syntagma Square and its metro stop is 8, and the Acropolis and its classic ruins are 18, while the popular shopping street of Ermou is a block away. The hotel's central location means you're surrounded by a buzzy area filled with restaurants, bars, cafés, shopping, and notable sites.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Nine categories of rooms are available, all varying in size but feeling spacious thanks to their high ceilings and, in some cases, skylights. Family suites, sleeping up to five guests, are available on the ground and first floors of the main building (note that there are some steps to navigate). If street noise is an issue, you'll want a higher floor or a Superior Room with a pullout couch. Some units have balcony options, including the Executive Rooms, Junior Suites, and Superior Rooms, while only Urania (muse of astronomy) has an elevator. Decor fuses romantic elements, like chandeliers and gauzy curtains, with retro details, large solid wood furniture, and Roman numeral clocks. Bathrooms are well-appointed, with vessel sinks, and rainfall showers.

Amenities

One of the highlights of Athens Manor Houses is its complimentary breakfast buffet, which features a selection of Greek items with vegetarian and gluten-free options, served daily from 7 am to 11 am. The hotel also offers a 24-hour front desk, where both services are available in the Clio building. Guests can take advantage of additional perks, like the airport shuttle (for a charge) and in-room massage, hair, and make-up services. Staff have received top marks from past guests for their warm and welcoming hospitality, embodying the Greek tradition of philoxenia.

Family-Friendliness

Athens Manor Houses offers suites that can accommodate families, with room configurations suitable for up to five guests. Cots are available upon request and are free for children two and younger. Some rooms can accommodate an additional bed, and for those families using a stroller, note both Clio and Erato have stairs (only Uranio has an elevator). If parents are looking for a night out sans kids, there's a babysitting service on offer.
