Pros

• The central location puts you in the heart of Athens, as you can walk to Syntagma Square, Monastiraki, and Plaka all in under 10 minutes.
• The rooms feel spacious thanks to their open design and details like skylights.
• The hotel staff is warm, accommodating, and responsive, as they want guests to feel like they’re well taken care of.

Cons

• Two of the three buildings do not have elevators, which limits the accessibility for some travelers. While porters will bring your bags up, it does mean that you have to take stairs to get to and from the room. For those who require elevator access, be sure to book a room in the main building and/or confirm with management what the best option is for your needs.
• The Athens Manor is located on a busy street and some rooms – particularly those closer to ground level – have noise issues, even with the reinforced windows. Consider booking a room on a higher floor or one that faces away from Athinaidos Street to get some more quiet.
• Perikleous/Athinaidos Street, where the buildings of the Athens Manor are located, is quite narrow and can be difficult to navigate for those who require wider streets for accessibility.

Authenticity

The Athens Manor is made up of three separate Neo-Classical buildings that date back to 1897. The buildings of the Athens Manor retain their historical details, as best seen by the beautiful iron-wrought facade of the main building. Working with historical buildings can be a double-edged sword, as the hotel owners can’t make certain changes like putting in elevators in two of the buildings. In a way, this adds to the Athens Manor's authenticity, as the hotel is working with the buildings as they once were.

Location

The Athens Manor is centrally located, with easy walking access to Syntagma Square, Monastiraki, Plaka, and the Acropolis, which are all within 15 minutes of the hotel by foot. All of these sites include metro stops as well for those looking to get around the city by subway. The Athens Manor's location off of Athinaidos Street is central and lively, but note that Athinaidos Street is made of very narrow sidewalks, which can pose an issue for those with certain accessibility needs.

If you want to start your day with a traditional Greek breakfast, head to the Ariston Lobotesi Bakery a few blocks away for Athens’ best tyropita or cheese pie. This Athenian institution has been run by the Lobotesis family since 1910 and is famous for their korou cheese pie. Or if you’re looking to get some shopping done, you’ll find Ermou Street just a block away from the Athens Manor. This famous pedestrian street is filled with clothing stores and even has an 11th-century church in the middle of it.

Rooms & Bathrooms

The 24 rooms of the Athens Manor vary in size, but they all have a spacious feeling thanks to features like tall walls and even skylights in some cases. Family suites are available on the ground and first floors of the main building. These large rooms of 500 square feet (50 sqm) can accommodate up to five guests. It’s worth noting that ground floor rooms have more of a noise issue from the street, so if you’re looking for a quieter night’s sleep, go for a higher floor or a Superior Room, which includes a pullout couch. 

Other suites such as the Executive Rooms, Junior Suites, and Superior Rooms have balcony options. Two of the three Athens Manor buildings do not include elevators due to certain restrictions on renovating historic buildings, so those with accessibility concerns or who would like more convenient access to rooms can focus on the suites in the Main Building or speak with the hotel to figure out what option is most appropriate.
