Cyano Suites, Naxos

Peaceful boutique suites with private balconies, sea and Temple of Apollo views, and homemade breakfast

Overview

Cyano is a small hotel with five suites, some with a private hot tub, set in a two-story building. While the property was only built in 2006 and renovated in 2017, it fits in with the surroundings given its traditional Cycladic style of whitewashed stone walls and alcoves. Guests will find Cyano Suites in the Grotta area of Naxos Town, close to many of the key attractions and restaurants but far enough from the action that their stay remains peaceful and quiet. But it's the views of the Temple of Apollo that past kimkim travelers rave about most. Amenities are a bit thin as there's no pool, spa, or gym, but the owner is friendly and attentive, and the property is also great for families (under 18s get to stay for free!).

Kimkim's Take

Pros
  • You'll be just a 10-minute walk from Naxos Town landmarks like the Venetian Castle and the Portara (Temple of Apollo).
  • The suites offer stunning views of the Aegean Sea and the Temple of Apollo, especially from the upper floors.
  • Each suite features a private balcony, with some offering private hot tubs.
  • The hotel's traditional Cycladic style, with its whitewashed walls and stone accents, offers a charming and authentic Greek island vibe.
  • Families will appreciate the spacious suites that accommodate up to five people, with kids under 18 staying free when using existing beds.
  • Breakfast is a homemade buffet-style feast at the sister property, Hotel Adriani, just a short walk away.
Cons
  • Although the hotel doesn't have a pool, some rooms come with private hot tubs.
  • The hotel lacks a visible lobby or signage, making it initially difficult to find, though you'll appreciate its peaceful seclusion once you do.
  • There isn't an elevator on the property.

Authenticity

Cyano Suites reflects the traditional Cycladic style with whitewashed walls and stone features. The suites are adorned with simple, earthy decor, drawing inspiration from the Greek island aesthetic. You'll wake up to beautiful views of the Aegean Sea and the Temple of Apollo, which previous kimkim travelers have highlighted as the most memorable aspect of their stay. While the hotel doesn't have its own restaurant, you can enjoy a homecooked breakfast featuring local dishes at the sister property, Hotel Adriani, around the corner.

Location

Located just outside the center of Naxos Town, Cyano Suites offers a peaceful stay with easy access to the island's lively culture. The Portara, or Temple of Apollo, is just a 10-minute walk, as is the Venetian Castle. In the same amount of time, stroll the waterfront restaurants and shops of Naxos' port. Favorite beaches like Agia Anna and Plaka are 15-20 minutes away by car, while impressive sights like the fallen Faragi Kouros statue are 20 minutes away.

Rooms & Bathrooms

The hotel's five suites follow the traditional Cycladic style of whitewashed walls and rounded wall corners, giving a cavernous feel. The decor is simple, with natural elements like wood floors and rattan decorative pieces. All include balconies with clear views of the sea and Portara, perfect for watching the sunset. The Grand and Premium Suites come with an indoor hot tub, which is exposed and visible from the bed. All rooms have unique layouts, where the Grand and Junior Suites feature exposed bathtubs in the living room. If you need more space or are traveling with family, the Grand and Premium Suites include multiple sofa beds.

Amenities

While Cyano Suites lacks a pool, spa, gym, and parking and doesn't offer any amenities for travelers with mobility needs (there is no elevator access to the second-story units), its standout feature is the view of the Aegean Sea and the Temple of Apollo. The property's location allows for easy exploration of nearby attractions, and the inclusion of a homemade breakfast at sister hotel, Adriani, helps to make up for the lack.

Family-Friendliness

Children of all ages are welcome at the hotel, and those under 18 can even stay for free when using existing beds! Some of the larger suites are perfect for larger families, as they have multiple sofa beds, the Grand Suite with private Jacuzzi, sleeps up to five. Baby cribs for infants under two can be provided for free when requested. There are no amenities for families with kids.

Other Highlights

You can enjoy Naxos' famous cuisine by trying the homemade breakfast of pastries, pies, and other dishes served at the hotel's sister property a few blocks away. Guests will find Yves Rocher products available in all en suite bathrooms.

I wish I could add another star. The room was beautiful and perfectly located. There was nothing like watching the sunset from our room over Apollo’s gate and be within a five minute walk from all the restaurants and shops. Our room was gorgeous and unique. We took room photos to remember it always. The view was fabulous. The only problem was that we had to walk to a sister restaurant for breakfast. We had to reach him by phone. These factors made us a bit uncomfortable because it so unusual. Knowing this now, I would not hestitate to return here. The suite was gorgeous— as was the view.

Tips for future travelers

We had a terrific dinner at Sarris Fish Tavern and a fabulous dinner at dal Professore Mediterranean Cuisine. Try to visit both! Saint George Beach was gorgeous! 20 euro to sit on the beach under an umbrella. We ordered a fabulous lunch brought to us by friendly, kind waiters. Loved it!
