Historic waterfront hotel featuring the French-inspired L'Abri Restaurant and the French Museum

Overview

Fosshotel Eastfjords, a charming yet simple hotel, is in the picturesque Fáskrúðsfjörður, right in the center of the Eastfjords of Iceland. This area is renowned for its majestic nature and stunning scenery. The hotel is housed in a historic building that dates back to 1903 and was once a hospital for French fishermen. When you stay at Fosshotel Eastfjords, you'll be just a 5-minute drive from the French in Iceland Museum and within easy reach of other attractions such as the Icelandic Wartime Museum and Petra Steinasafn.

The hotel offers 26 comfortable guestrooms with free WiFi, private bathrooms with showers, and conveniences like coffee/tea makers. Daily housekeeping ensures a clean and cozy atmosphere during your stay. One of the hotel's highlights is its French-inspired restaurant, L'Abri, where you can enjoy a delicious meal with a touch of French flair.

What truly sets Fosshotel Eastfjords apart is its rich heritage, celebrated daily in the on-site French Museum. As a guest, you'll receive free admission to this museum, offering a glimpse into the history and culture of the French fishermen who once called this area home. In addition, the hotel's beautiful location on the waterfront provides stunning views of the bay, as described by a previous kimkim traveler who enjoyed watching the fog slowly disappear off the bay in the morning.

Really nice hotel with a fascinating little museum too. Having a porch in the bay was beautiful as the fog slowly disappeared off the bay in the morning. Wish we had more time here! Read more
