Skuggi Hotel embraces a modern black, white, and gray aesthetic inspired by Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson's black-and-white images of Iceland and Icelanders. Additionally, English quotes from his book, "Behind the Mountains," are stamped on walls above headboards, adding a bit of whimsy to each unit.

Situated on the revamped Hverfisgata street, Skuggi Hotel is in a prime spot for exploring the city and accessing numerous shops, cafés, trendy bars, restaurants, and street art. It's a 2-minute walk to Reykjavík's main shopping street, Laugavegur, a 10-minute walk to the iconic Hallgrimskirkja church, and only 5 minutes to reach the Sculpture & Shore Walk (about another 4 to reach "Sun Voyager"). Around the corner (2-minute walk) is a bus stop that takes travelers to Keflavík Airport.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Rooms at Skuggi Hotel are sleek and done up in the property's color palette: black, white, and gray. Beds are plush, floor space is minimal—typical of European properties—and decor is minimalist, focusing on functionality. Blackout shades (for white nights) and rainfall showers are nice features. Note that air-conditioning is non-existent, which shouldn't pose too much of an issue given Iceland's cool climate. However, previous kimkim travelers have shared that their rooms felt a little warm in the summer (small windows can be opened for ventilation).

Superior Rooms sleep up to three guests and have the added touch of bathrobes and slippers, while all rooms are appointed with standard amenities, including in-house bars.
