Authenticity

Hotel Kría, built in 2018, offers a sleek and modern design that takes advantage of its proximity to the Myrdalur cliffs. Its floor-to-ceiling windows in Mountain View rooms and in-house restaurant invite the outdoors in. The property has a moody aesthetic, much like Icelandic weather, with tones of gray and blue and plenty of mood lighting. You'll also find traditional Icelandic cuisine (with a modern twist) at Drangar Restaurant.

Location

Situated in Vík and beside the Ring Road, Hotel Kría is a convenient base to explore the natural attractions of South Iceland. Uxafótafoss, for example, is a 4-minute drive. It's a 5-minute walk to the famed black sand beaches where you can span pics of Reynisdrangar and a 20-minute drive to landmarks like Dyrhólaey to see comical puffins. You're close enough to walk to eateries, activities, and shops, and the Vík í Myrdal church is about 20 minutes on foot. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

Rooms are modern and cozy and have a moody vibe. Walls are painted in darker tones of blue-gray, wood floors warm up the space, and textured velvet throws and thick (blackout) drapes add to the vibe. Standard Double rooms and Suites look out to the Ring Road/Vík, where the Suites offer a bit more space. The Mountain View rooms are where it's at, however, with beautiful views of the Myrdalur cliffs. The entire property is on the ground floor and wheelchair accessible.

Amenities

You'll get to enjoy a daily breakfast buffet with hot and cold options, a cocktail bar with happy hour from 4 pm to 7 pm, and Drangar Restaurant, open from 6 pm to 9 pm, with mountain views and a menu featuring Icelandic cuisine with a modern twist. Other perks include the atmospheric fire in the lobby and laundry services.

Family-Friendliness

While Hotel Kría welcomes families, it doesn't specifically cater to children with dedicated amenities or facilities. However, cots and extra beds (one per room) are available free of charge for children up to seven. The max a room can accommodate is three guests with the extra bed.
