Hotel Espléndido, Port de Sóller

Pros

• You'll enjoy a modern stay in a renovated hotel that opened in the 1950s, so you can experience quaint tourism with contemporary comforts. 
• The hotel sits directly on Port de Sóller's main street across from the beach, where the vintage tram passes several times daily.  
• All rooms have been renovated and feature mid-century wallpapering, carpeting, rich tones, vintage Marshall speakers, and garden or sea views. 
• Book an upgraded room facing the sea for a private wooden sundeck, or go for the highest suite with its own rooftop terrace and hot tub.
• The restaurant serves meals throughout the day and features a kids' menu and a selection specific to the pool bar.

• The outdoor pool is a great place to spend time, as is the garden area with its stone and wooden walkway and grassy area lined with sun loungers. 

Cons

• The restaurant is a little pricey (€35 per person for the breakfast buffet), but you'll be near several other options if you'd like to enjoy a meal or two outside the hotel. 

Authenticity

Though renovated in 2005, Hotel Espléndido dates back to 1954 and has been a staple on the island. You'll find some of the original vintage stylings preserved and new upgrades maintaining the look, such as with wallpaper, furnishings, and decor. So, you can enjoy both modern comforts and reminders of Spain's golden age of tourism. 

Location

You'll stay directly on the main road and promenade that hug the Port of Sóller's waterfront. Just a few steps out of the hotel is the path down to the sand, and you might see the vintage trolley rumbling by, taking travelers from the main city to the beach. There are plenty of restaurants and shops along the promenade, and you'll find more options in Sóller's city center, a 15-minute drive. And to enjoy the area's nature beyond the beach, you can easily connect to hiking trails that take you to the coast right from the Port's center. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

All rooms are bright, colorful, and spacious, with air conditioning, free minibars, and trendy Marshall speakers. Many units offer outdoor spaces, such as Juliette balconies or charming terraces facing the garden or overlooking the sea. Family rooms provide two bedrooms and a private deck, though the highest-tiered rooms are huge suites that come in twos: two floors, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two private terraces with a hot tub.

Grab a drink or lunch on the outdoor terrace, a great spot for people-watching and catching views of the tram. There's also a daily breakfast buffet, lounge bar, and bright indoor dining room, plus specific menus catering to kids and the casual pool bar. When not swimming in the sea or outdoor pool (complete with a water volleyball net), you can relax in the spa featuring a Finnish sauna, Turkish bath, and a 10% discount for treatments. There's also a garden area, gym, and fitness classes.
