I never thought I'd see the day when I'd recommend a hotel with tacky statues and artwork in front of the main entrance, but Hotel Leyenda is a pleasant surprise once you can get past the exterior facade. Inside is a beautiful property with two large pools and a play area for kids, lovely gardens and greenery, as well as spacious rooms. The location may throw off some people at first, but its distance from town and the beach makes it a quiet retreat, and the hotel provides plenty of services to keep travelers happy on-site, including live music, poolside activities, and a shuttle to Playa Carrillo, where guests have access to a bathroom and shower. Hotel Leyenda put me in my place and was a nice reminder to discover what's beyond the surface.

Hotel Leyenda has a bit of a whimsical look on the outside, but once you enter, you'll see that the property is warm and inviting, and the grounds are well taken care of. The owner is Italian, and charming touches throughout the property reflect this heritage. Hotel Leyenda is perfect for families looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway, as it's located a bit further away from the hustle and bustle of Puerto Carrillo.

While its distance means travelers need transportation to the shops and restaurants in town, the hotel offers a shuttle to the beach from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

One standard room type has two bedrooms and can accommodate up to 6 people, which is great for families.
