Hotel Marqués House, Valencia
Stylish, boutique hotel in a historic 19th-century building with a rooftop terrace, city views, and a renowned cocktail bar
Overview
Kimkim's Take

- The location is perfect for exploring València's historic district (one of the largest in Europe), as you'll be steps away from Mercat Central and the València Cathedral.
- Enjoy relaxing on the rooftop terrace with a drink in hand as you take in the charming vistas of nearby historic buildings.
- Rooms are modern with lots of light, pops of bright color, marble bathrooms, and Juliet balconies.
- Café Madrid, the hotel's renowned cocktail bar, offers a taste of València's bohemian culture and is the birthplace of the legendary Agua de València bevy.
- The MYR hotels in València, including this one, are known for their exceptionally delicious breakfasts.
- Though the hotel is central, past travelers have given high praise for the peaceful (lack of noise in the) rooms.
- Besides some light snacks and a few tapas, the in-house bar doesn't serve meals.
Authenticity
Marqués House is set in an attractive, historic 19th-century building that underwent renovations for a 2018 opening. Its exterior incorporates local elements, including a whitewashed stone facade with traditional wooden shutters, and wrought iron balconies and decorative rejas (the grilles that cover the first-floor windows), while interiors are contemporary with beautiful herringbone hardwood floors in common spaces. The on-site bar, Café Madrid, formerly Cervecería Madrid, is renowned for its 80+ years of drink service and touted as the birthplace of the Agua de València cocktail (not to mention it has been a central hub for the city's bohemian and artistic culture since 1940).Location
Located in València's Ciutat Vella (Old Town) on the quieter Golden Mile high-end shopping street, Marqués House places you close to restaurants, cafés, shops, and cultural hotspots. You'll be within a 5-minute walk of the iconic Central Market, the València Cathedral at the top of Plaça de la Reina, and the cool Hortensia Herrero Art Center, while the City of Arts and Sciences is a 10-minute scenic bike ride via the Turia Gardens. It's a bit of a trek to access the metro, though there are two bus stops, each a 2-minute walk away.Rooms & Bathrooms
The hotel's five room types are spacious and decorated with modern, sometimes abstract elements and art, with a focus on natural light, strategic use of bold colors and patterns, and contemporary design. Some rooms offer city views, and some have charming French doors that open to Juliet balconies. All rooms feature comfortable beds, a pillow menu, and large, modern marble bathrooms with rain showers. Grab a Junior or Premier Suite for perks like more space, separate seating areas, and soaking tubs.Amenities
On the ground floor, you'll find Café Madrid, a cocktail bar with eclectic decor, from crystal chandeliers, tasseled lampshades, and gild framed art to zebra-striped floor tiles, marble bistro tables, and wicker or pintuck velvet furniture, a nod to València's Bohemian heyday and cultural heritage (order the signature cocktail invented in 1959). Another big highlight of Hotel Marqués House is its rooftop terrace, which offers cushy seating, sun loungers, and wraparound city views, and is where a la carte breakfast is served. You can also order drinks from the bar and bring them to the terrace for a bit of sun and conversation.Family-Friendliness
Cribs and extra beds are available upon request for a fee, and the hotel's elevator is convenient for parents pushing strollers. Families traveling with more than one child will find the suite options especially suitable (more space), accommodating families of four (not including a crib-aged child).Like what you see?
