Kimkim's Take
Authenticity
Namuwoki Lodge is a set of 18 bungalows surrounded by jungle greenery, so it definitely gives you those Costa Rican vibes. The bar/restaurant is open-air with many local dishes. Although some rooms could use a little updating, all are designed in Caribbean style, meaning they have thatched roofing, A-frame ceilings, and rich wood accents.Location
Although not a beachfront accommodation, Namuwoki Lodge's location is pretty ideal. A quick five-minute walk through the jungle takes you to Playa Chiquita, one of the best swimming beaches in the area, thanks to its protective reef. The lodge is also about halfway between two hubs, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and Punta Uva, so you have many restaurants and other beaches within about 10 minutes or so.Rooms & Bathrooms
Perhaps the lush jungle has one downside: dark rooms. The lodge feels open and bright, but the rooms lack natural lighting. Still, you have spacious bungalows that come in numerous configurations, including suites and family villas with multiple rooms and floors (and some with private Jacuzzis). All rooms include a private terrace with hammocks and/or seating, but only some have air-conditioning. Bathrooms are simple with basic amenities.
Wildlife
Tropical gardens surround the bungalows, attracting various wildlife to the property. Travelers have spotted howler monkeys, sloths, and toucans in the trees around their rooms. You'll be able to spot some other Costa Rican wildlife while wandering around the property, including armadillos, agoutis, and green dart frogs.
Amenities
The lodge has one small pool next to the outdoor restaurant and bar, as well as an adjacent communal Jacuzzi. There's a small open-air spa that offers massages, pedicures, and facials. If you need WiFi access on your trip, be aware that the WiFi is only available in the common spaces and not in the bungalows. Namuwoki Lodge isn't wheelchair friendly as the bungalows are slightly elevated and have stair entryways.
Family-Friendliness
Children up to the age of five stay for free, and those under the age of 12 stay at a reduced rate. The Family Bungalows are ideal for smaller families. Villas are also available if you want a bigger space, and for larger families, the Deluxe Suites can sleep up to six people. There's not a lot for children to do on the property and Namuwoki Lodge has been more popular with adults. Still, the lodge is a fine option for families who want a comfortable stay and plan to spend the days exploring the coastline.
Other Highlights
The property's open-air Naum Restaurant offers relaxing vibes and serves local and regional dishes, plus Spanish-inspired cuisine. The restaurant overlooks the lodge's small outdoor pool and a bar serving afternoon cocktails. Here is where you'll enjoy your complimentary breakfast in the morning.Like what you see?
