Pros
  • The location is perfect, right on one of the most popular pedestrian streets in Palma and just steps from many of the biggest sites.
  • All the rooms are trendy and stylish yet feel warm, cozy, and inviting. You can upgrade to units with balconies or in-room soaking tubs for a bit of indulgence.
  • For meals, the restaurant could easily become your go-to in the city, with its lunchtime menu deals, delicious breakfast, and fun cocktails.
  • The rooftop terrace is a nice perk, perfect for breakfast or dinner, though you can also just hang out on the chairs and sofas with a book or drink.
Cons
  • The hotel rooms have an open-floor concept, so in some units, the bathroom sinks are in the same space as the bed, and the showers aren't very private.
  • Though a five-star luxury hotel, there aren't many amenities here, so the value could be better.

Additional Notes From Ash

Walking into this hotel felt like traveling back to a glamorous bygone time—and I loved it. The aviation theme (thanks to the building's past) gives way to exceptional and personalized service that exceeded my expectations. Every stylish little detail, the slightly indulgent and relaxing atmosphere, and the staff's kindness put the hotel on my personal shortlist.

Authenticity

The building of Nivia Born Boutique Hotel has a unique and interesting history as the offices for the Spanish airline Iberia during the 1950s. You'll still get authentic neoclassicism, but you can also explore this past in the reception and lounge area with its nod to the golden age of travel.

Location

This hotel gets its name from its location just off the historic and picturesque tree-lined Passeig del Born street. You'll be within walking distance from most of the city sites, with Plaça Major, the Catedral de Mallorca, and the Llotja de Palma all less than 10 minutes by foot. Walk a little farther to reach a few other popular spots. The Santa Catalina Market is just 12 minutes away and the city's main beach is 20 minutes.

Rooms & Bathrooms

All the rooms feel very stylish, trendy, and warm, with neutral tones matched with splashes of vibrant colors. Each comes with fluffy towels, bathrobes, slippers, a reusable tote bag, coffee makers, a pillow menu, and eco-friendly bathroom amenities. Upgraded units have jetted bathtubs, and suites add more space, private balconies, in-room soaking tubs, dual sinks, and/or sofas. The bathrooms are modern and trendy, with an open-floor concept.

Other Highlights

The on-site eatery is a big highlight, serving a delicious breakfast on the rooftop (though you can also enjoy breakfast in bed). There's a unique weekly menu for lunch, gourmet Mediterranean dishes for dinner, and cocktails for an aperitif or nightcap. Besides eating and drinking, the rooftop is a great place simply to relax, with rocking chairs, comfy outdoor furniture, and string lights, plus views over the city.
