Pros
  • You'll enjoy a unique stay, as the hotel is inside the Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture.
  • In your downtime, head to the fitness room and sauna for a little activity and relaxation.
  • The hotel offers temporary art exhibitions that promote contemporary artistic creation.
  • The hotel offers a breakfast buffet with a new concept, "buffet in jars," which is greener and less prone to spreading germs.
Cons
  • The breakfast service starts later on weekends and public holidays, so if you have an early departure, you might need to arrange something with the front desk.
  • With its central location, you can really walk anywhere, as you'll be next to the train station and Cristina-Enea Park, however, the neighbourhood is under major reconstruction and feels a bit scetchy

Authenticity

One Shot Tabakalera House is inside the Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture, which was formerly an old tobacco factory in San Sebastián. The building has been beautifully renovated, blending historical elements with contemporary design by the Alfaro-Manrique Studio. The hotel takes pride in promoting contemporary artistic creation through periodic photography exhibitions, embracing the cultural ecosystem shared with other institutions and projects within the building.

Location

The hotel is conveniently located next to the train station and Cristina-Enea Park, with San Sebastián's city center just a few minutes away. Cross the María Cristina Zubia Bridge to reach the main shopping area and iconic spots such as the Buen Pastor Cathedral, La Concha Beach, and City Hall. The trendy Gros District, Zurriola Beach, and the Kursaal Congress Centre are also nearby, a quick 10-minute stroll.

Rooms & Bathrooms

One Shot Tabakalera House offers 34 stylish and comfortable rooms with large windows and street views. The decor features selected furniture, high-profile extra-comfort mattresses, and wooden floors. Executive, duplex, and premium rooms come with added touches such as robes, slippers, and sitting areas. Spacious rain showers are standard, while some premium rooms also feature a separate bathtub.

Amenities

Regarding amenities, One Shot Tabakelera may appear quite minimalist at first glance, as there is no spa or pool. However, there are a few perks for guests, like the small fitness center equipped with free weights and cardio equipment and a sauna. The hotel is friendly for those in wheelchairs, with an elevator going to the upper floors and wheelchair-accessible parking for guests with mobility needs nearby. There is one wheelchair-friendly room.

Family-Friendliness

Children of all ages are welcome at One Shot Tabakalera House. Children under two stay for free, and baby cribs are available for free, while extra beds incur an extra fee. Some of the larger duplex rooms are great for families. The hotel also opens onto the kid-friendly Tabakelera cultural space.

Other Highlights

The hotel channels its location into its amenities, such as the unique "buffet in jars" breakfast concept in its restaurant, which provides a greener and safer option for guests. You can also explore the temporary art exhibitions.

We were wonderfully comfortable here and especially appreciated the restaurant. Besides great food that was conveniently collocated, we had the most amazing and considerate service from the restaurant staff.

I especially want to commend Gustavo, Xabi, and the man who sold the coffee. Gustavo actually assisted me in tracking down more information about my long-lost Basque grandfather than I would have otherwise.

Gustavo advised me that besides visiting the church in Huarte where my grandfather was baptized, I could also go to the Ayuntamiento in Huarte for his birth certificate and other vital information.

I am so grateful he took the trouble to explain this to me (in the middle of working hard to make and serve food) as the focus of the trip was to learn as much about my grandfather as I could. Without Gustavo’s guidance, the most important part of my trip would have been much less productive. I will be forever grateful to him.

Xabi was a joy to talk to as he not only served us cheerfully and enthusiastically, but also took great interest in our trip, as it was centered on visiting my grandfather’s homeland. Xabi’s interest enriched that experience, and I will remember him fondly always.

The gentleman who staffed the coffee bar was so kind and considerate. I didn’t catch his name, but he had dark hair and was of medium height. He treated me like royalty when I told him my grandfather was a Basque.

He truly made me feel personally connected to my Basque heritage from which I had been alienated my whole life due to my grandfather’s abandonment of his family and the resultant lack of information about him.
