Orient Desert Camp, Merzouga

The full experience was perfect! Even when we were the only guest, they did everthing as intense as if the camp was full.

We had a terrific storm which was quite amazing the night we arrived ~ it didn't stop anyone from providing a wonderful place to stay and impectable hospitality!

The hotel went above and beyond to make our experience great. They even organized a sand bread making experience for us and that was unforgettable.

The room is exactly as pictured. You get toilet with flush and shower right in your desert tent.

Note: There is no air con in this camp so it’s probably not the best spot for summer.

Great 2 night stay at the edge of the Sahara. The tents were comfortable, the food was good, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Nice low key atmosphere to meet other travelers. Loved the camel ride and the visit to the nomad tents was interesting. Recommended.

Although we thought it might not be for us, we sent two days in the Sahara in the Orient Desert camp, riding camels and drinking tea with the nomads living in the desert, and this turned out to be the part of the trip we have talked about the most since returning!

Morocco - A beautiful country with friendly people

The welcome, the spacious tent with private bathroom, warm elegantly set dining room, very friendly men as hosts.

Our best bed and shower was found in the middle of the Sahara Desert !!!!! Unbelieveable !!!! The staff was extremely helpful and attentive and our every need was met. The camel ride into the camp was wonderful and our guide (I believe Hassan ?) was wonderful !!!! he had an incredibe sense of humor and so much love and kindness for the camels. He was quick to put us all at ease, guide us into the camp, and took the most amazing photos for us to bring home and share with our friends and family.

Our jeep guide the following morning, Ali, was again, full of information and provided us with a lovely tour of the desert.

We opted for an ATV ride after lunch at Riad in town (I wish i remembered the name of the business we rented from) and our guide Jamel was FAULOUS !!!!!!! He took us on the ride of a lifetime !!!! I cried tears of joy riding into the dunes and then he put us each individually on the back of his ATV and showed us a trick or two that i'm sure none of us will ever forget !!! I hope he doesn't lose his hearing from us screaming in his ears. It was absolutely WONDERFUL !!!!

Who knew staying the Sahara could be some comfortable and fun? Big thanks to Mohammed for taking such good care of our group!

Wonderful! Perfect setting. Campfires were a lovely touch. Food was pretty good. Real plumbing was a nice luxury. Only thing noticeably missing was air conditioning in the tents. If you needed to stay inside during the day (due to illness, for example), it was pretty difficult due to the daytime heat.

This was a really cool experience. If only all camping was this luxurious...
The staff here was really kind and enthusiastic. The food was delicious.
