Cons

Authenticity

While Pacific Hotel Cairns may not have a distinct historical charm or much in the way of character, it does weave in a slight tropical theme—you'll find tropical plant motifs in wallpaper and textiles—a nod to its location. Even the on-site restaurant is Brazilian, though you can find a couple of Aussie-inspired menu items, like kangaroo and reef fish.

The hotel is a 10-minute drive from Cairns Airport and provides easy access to the Great Barrier Reef, with the Reef Fleet Terminal only a 2-minute walk away.

The rooms at Pacific Hotel Cairns are modern, refurbished in 2022, and spacious, bringing a touch of the tropics indoors with tropical plant patterned wallpaper and throw pillows, wicker furniture, live edge coffee tables or similar, and art or fun light fixtures (cockatoo lamps, for example). Bathrooms are contemporary, equipped with back-lit mirrors, vessel sinks, and eco-friendly toiletries.
