Loved this hotel. It was so comfortable and in a great location. Very close to the Harbour where there are many good restaurants.
Overview
Pacific Hotel Cairns, a modern property, sits on a convenient corner overlooking Trinity Harbour on the Cairns Esplanade. Guests are within a 5-minute walk to the Reef Fleet Terminal (for ferries and boating trips to the Great Barrier Reef), the city's famous Night Markets, and the Esplanade Lagoon. Tropical-themed rooms are spacious and modern, and most have private balconies offering sweeping city and harbor vistas. Perks include an outdoor swimming pool, on-site parking, and the Brazilian barbecue-inspired Bushfire Flame Grill restaurant, which also serves a breakfast buffet.
Kimkim's Take
- The Pacific Hotel's location puts you directly where the action is—close to the Reef Fleet Terminal for Great Barrier Reef access, shopping, restaurants and bars, and popular attractions like the Esplanade Lagoon and Cairns Art Gallery.
- Past hotel guests have raved about the balcony views, stretching out to Trinity Harbour and over Cinnamon Creek.
- Drop your towel on a sun lounger and take a dip in the large outdoor swimming pool.
- Meat eaters will love the on-site Bushfire Flame Grill restaurant for a Brazilian barbecue dinner.
- The property doesn't include the price of the daily breakfast buffet in the room rate and past kimkim travelers noted that it didn't meet their expectations, lacking a little in quality.
Authenticity
While Pacific Hotel Cairns may not have a distinct historical charm or much in the way of character, it does weave in a slight tropical theme—you'll find tropical plant motifs in wallpaper and textiles—a nod to its location. Even the on-site restaurant is Brazilian, though you can find a couple of Aussie-inspired menu items, like kangaroo and reef fish.Location
The property is ideally located on the Esplanade, overlooking Trinity Harbour. You'll find yourself just a short walk (2-6 minutes) from key attractions like the Night Markets, Esplanade Lagoon, Cairns Art Gallery, and numerous dining options. The hotel is a 10-minute drive from Cairns Airport and provides easy access to the Great Barrier Reef, with the Reef Fleet Terminal only a 2-minute walk away.Rooms & Bathrooms
The rooms at Pacific Hotel Cairns are modern, refurbished in 2022, and spacious, bringing a touch of the tropics indoors with tropical plant patterned wallpaper and throw pillows, wicker furniture, live edge coffee tables or similar, and art or fun light fixtures (cockatoo lamps, for example). Bathrooms are contemporary, equipped with back-lit mirrors, vessel sinks, and eco-friendly toiletries. For a more lux stay, upgrade to a Superior King Balcony Suite with more space, freestanding tubs, and a wraparound balcony for the best views.Amenities
One of the highlights (though best for meat lovers) of Pacific Hotel Cairns is the Bushfire Flame Grill Restaurant, known for its award-winning all-you-can-eat Brazilian churrasco barbecue. The hotel also features an outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers, a 24-hour front desk, and a guest lounge for meeting friends/family or a comfy spot to wait for your tour.Like what you see?

The Pacific Hotel Cairns was a great base for our adventures in Cairns. It was conveniently located within walking distance to many restaurants and shops along the waterway. The hotel was also very close to where we boarded the boat for our Great Barrier Reef adventure, making it extremely convenient.
Good location close to ward - near everything - breakfast is ok - staff helpfull
Great location but hotel is not clean as it should be. We found dust covered on coffee pot and hot water pot etc. Hotel was informed. It seems to be a group tour hotel too. There were school students staying while we were there.
