Parador de Ronda, Ronda
Historic clifftop hotel in Ronda with scenic views, two restaurants, outdoor pool, and family-friendly amenities
Location, location, location!
Beautiful and spacious, best location,- probably the nicest hotel we stayed in Spain
Overview
Pros
- Because the hotel sits on three sides of the cliff, nearly every room has some spectacular view (of the Puente Nuevo, the gorge, the valley, the Old Town, or the Mirador de Ronda).
- The location is within walking distance of the Bullring of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda, Mirador de Ronda, and Alameda del Tajo Park.
- Take a dip in the outdoor pool and relax in one of the sun loungers on the grassy lawn.
- You'll find a few other spaces to enjoy, including the outdoor terraces and patios, plus cozy indoor lounges.
- The hotel's two restaurants have large windows and outdoor dining on terraces, all with beautiful views of the scenery.
- Some rooms feel outdated in furnishings and decor, especially the bathrooms.
- Children aged three years and above are charged as adults.
- Pool towels are not provided, and there's no poolside food or drink service.
Kimkim's Take
Authenticity
Parador de Ronda mixes old and new and offers a unique mix of architecture, including stone archways leading to a contemporary entryway with modern art. The hotel is located in the spot where the city's old Town Hall once stood, transformed into a hotel with its neighboring buildings.Location
Parador de Ronda feels connected to Puente Nuevo and El Tajo Gorge, which is fitting since it's the closest building to the bridge and sits atop the cliff closest to the gorge. You can easily walk to all the city's sites, plus shops, restaurants, and bars. The start of the El Tajo Gorge walking trail is just a five-minute walk, as is La Casa del Rey Moro.Rooms & Bathrooms
The hotel's rooms have hardwood floors and simple, stylish decor. Some feel like they could use some updating (especially the bathrooms), but ongoing renovations are improving this. We recommend a corner room or one with a balcony overlooking the gorge. You can also opt for a duplex room with a bedroom and a private rooftop terrace upstairs.Amenities
Enjoy relaxing on one of the outdoor terraces and patios, at the outdoor pool with its green lawn and sun loungers, or inside one of the cozy lounges. The pool area is wheelchair-accessible and has a spectacular view of Ronda's deep gorge and the iconic Puente Nuevo Bridge. There's no spa, but there's a rooftop terrace with impressive views. The hotel has a 24-hour front desk and multilingual staff.Family-Friendliness
The hotel welcomes children of all ages, but kids aged three years and above are charged as adults. (Babies aged 0-2 years stay for free, and cribs are available). The Deluxe rooms are particularly well-suited for families, and the property is stroller-friendly.Other Highlights
Enjoy a breakfast buffet of Spanish and international dishes; it's served on the terrace with views over the gorge. The hotel has two restaurants, both specializing in regional cuisine and overlooking the landscape below. El Manzel de Ronda is the more casual option, while Restaurante Parador de Ronda is a well-known dining establishment showcasing dishes grouped by region. Both restaurants have a full bar, including an extensive wine list.Like what you see?
