Overview
Pros
- This hillside location has ocean views from nearly every corner of the property, covering about 10 acres.
- Several amenities include two on-site restaurants/bars, two outdoor pools (one with a waterslide), swim-up bars, a movie theater, weekly live music, and a full-service spa (additional fee).
- You can walk around the large garden with outdoor terraces and nature paths.
- A free shuttle runs to the national park and beach several times a day.
Cons
- There's no direct access to the beach.
- The hotel is right on the busy main road through Manuel Antonio.
- The WiFi is spotty, and the overall decor and rooms are pretty outdated.
- No gym or fitness center available on-site.
Kimkim's Take
Authenticity
Lush jungle greenery borders three sides of Si Como No Resort, so you'll feel enveloped by the rainforest. The buildings blend into the environment, mixing neutral colors and warm hardwood. Spread across 10 acres, it's not uncommon to see wildlife from your balcony or while walking on the nature trails.Location
The resort is on a hillside, just off the main road through Manuel Antonio, and there's a grocery store and a handful of restaurants just down the street. Although you won't be immediately next to the beach or the national park entrance, you'll still be surrounded by tropical forests and can enjoy ocean views.Rooms & Bathrooms
The hotel has 58 rooms that seem to grow into the hillside, enclosed by jungle and forest. Rooms feel a little dated but are spacious, bright, and warm, with unique wooden ceilings. All have air-conditioning, minifridges, and balconies with at least partial ocean views. Deluxe rooms and suites have slightly bigger balconies with near panoramic views. Keep in mind that no rooms have a TV, which intentionally maintains the property's quiet atmosphere.
Wildlife
Manuel Antonio National Park starts directly across the road from the resort, and the wildlife inhabiting the park is well known for making appearances on the property. Travelers have spotted everything from toucans and parrots to iguanas, monkeys, sloths, butterflies, and more. Keep a sharp eye out, and you'll have plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife while lounging on either your room's balcony or at the pool.
Amenities
Si Como No offers a complete lineup of amenities except for a gym or fitness center. There are two pools - one that's great for families and kids, while the other is an adults-only pool. Cala Spa offers a full menu of therapeutic and beauty treatments, available by reservation. Accessible rooms are available for those with limited mobility, but be aware that the property has some steep slopes and ramps, which may be difficult to get around on.
Family-Friendliness
The resort is great for families, with most areas open to all ages and an adult-only area parents can enjoy. Infants under the age of two stay for free, and kids under 13 stay at a discounted rate. The main pool is equipped with a slide that's a big hit with kids, and the movie theater often shows family-friendly movies. To top it all off, puzzles, board games, cribs, and babysitting are all available.
Other Highlights
You can choose from two restaurants that cover all meals of the day between the two of them. On certain nights, live bands play during dinner service. Adults can enjoy a cocktail at the swim-up bar next to the adults-only pool, which also serves light snacks. Notably, the resort has its own small theater, where you can catch a movie while you wind down for the day. If you'd rather enjoy the views outdoors, most of the common areas come with fantastic ocean views.Sustainability
Si Como No Resort was the first property established by the Greentiques Hotel group, one of the founders of sustainable hospitality in Costa Rica. Sustainability initiatives at the property include recycling and waste management, water conservation, organic food sources, and reducing carbon footprints, among others.Like what you see?
