2. Timing planned by Alvaro was not accurate, failed to check and/or update the latest information since the plan was almost a year ago. He should update and inform us as we paid 30% and in full prior to trip.
3. We had reminded him 1 month and 2 weeks prior to the trip if he checked all program and requirement are in order. Obviously, he did not as it was not well planned on some days.
4. Dietary concern was also not properly managed and/or arranged. Portion of lunch was insufficent especially the protein since I was not able to eat many other items due to my health - Informed a year ago.
5. Alvaro has not provided accurate information and/or the equired information to the local guides about our requirements - according to the local guides that informed us.
6. We requested price to be ALL-IN as we do not want hassle during the trip with too much phyiscal cash on hand and wrote Alvaro to make of that, which includes the Domestic Flight to Galapagos island. We were not informed at all of the limited luggage for domestic flight. We had to last minute pay for the over weight luggage. Unnecessary inconveniences if Alvaro had provided clear information - we would request for him to include any extra weight for domestic flight.
7. I had obviously provided my displeased on the program and Alvaro did not take the construtive criticisim well. The arrogant attitude handling a displeased customer was what put us off. He stop addressing me by name and addressed only to my husband which was disrespectful considering I was the one a year ago decided and planned this with Alvaro.
8. There were unsincere apologies from Alvaro and his boss. We have arranged all our customised trips with many other agencies all over the world including other South America countries - Every agencies would provide some form of compensation due to the poor planning, lack of information, bad hotels, food etc and poor arrangement with local guides. But Responsible Travel gave only excuses for their mistakes and nothing more.
Last point, tourist travel always take time to take photographs, especially one with a proper camera. However, we were always in the rush with the local guide cum driver and/or driver, with no consideration whatsoever to slow down or check if we needed to take a proper photos. Either thats the people in Ecuador or just the guide selected by Responsible travel, which was not good.
This is not the travel agency we were recommend and certainly we will not use them again.

Alvaro put together a wonderful trip for us! He and Josselyn took amazing care of us and made sure we were escorted every step of our trip which we greatly appreciated. Every single guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the Galápagos Islands and all of the wildlife. We loved all of our guides but especially, Darwin, on Isabela Island! We loved the Galapagos! We had originally planned to go in November, but, unfortunately, my father died the day before we were supposed to leave. Alvaro rearranged things and then re-planned an even longer trip for us about 9 months later. The local guides were prompt, friendly and very knowledgeable about the islands.

Nice and spacious rooms. The noise from the outside varies based on the location of the room. I found that the rooms on the upper floors tended to be noisier. Food was ok. The hotel was located within walking distance of Plaza Fochs, where there were many restaurant options to choose from.

Rustic experience in the jungle. I think one has to manage their expectations when staying here. The rooms are nice and comfortable - no air conditioning but a fan is available. Even with screened windows, it's still not unexpected to find insects inside the room like moths or small ants. Power outage is also par for the course - especially with the unpredictable weather that could go from sunny and humid, to a deluge of rain.
The staff were amazing - they made the experience totally enjoyable.

Probably the most memorable experience for me during this 10-day trip. I was the only one taking the horseback riding tour amongst my group, so I lucked out with getting a private tour with my guide. It was a my first time horseback riding and I was very grateful to have a docile horse. The ride was challenging - involving flats on the plains surrounding Cotopaxi, some hills and valleys, and water crossings. The weather went from cloudy, to rainy and cold. As challenging as it was, I felt privileged to be able to experience it all.

We had an amazing time at Jamu lodge. Our guide Adrian was very good and punctual. All the meals served were very healthy. Our Suite was beautiful and comfortable. Truly, a memorable stay at Jamu lodge.
The only thing I would have loved to have was having a fan in the Suite as it is very humid in the jungle.
Hotel experience was decent. Breakfast was good. Lucia served fresh fruit juice everyday explaining the benefits of the fruit which was very nice experience.
Hotel is in the middle of Old Town. Short walk to Basilica and other interesting spots around. Very authentic and Spanish inspired location.
Only negative is the Hotel does not have an elevator,, so it is little hard to carry big luggage up the stairs.

We had a wonderful time in Ecuador and the plan Alvaro put together for either side of our visit to the Galápagos Islands was just perfect!
All of our accommodation was excellent and we had great variety every day. We felt we had a very nice balance of culture and nature and although we had a busy itinerary, we never felt at all rushed.

The “icing on the cake” for us was our guide Marco Herrera. He was so kind and considerate of our needs. He was knowledgeable but never made us feel overwhelmed with facts and figures. He didn’t rush us at all, and made sure we had as much time as we needed for taking photos and “mooching about” at our leisure.
Jeferson from the Tour Company called to meet us at our hotel in Quito and he was regularly in touch throughout our stay in Ecuador, making sure we were enjoying ourselves.
We would highly recommend Ecuador to everyone and feel it’s a shame that so many tourists only visit to see the Galápagos Islands. This is most definitely the highlight of the country, but there is SO much more to experience and we are really pleased we decided to spend over 3 weeks here in total.

What a gem this family run hotel is! Lucia is an absolute lady and all the staff did their utmost to make our stay perfect.
The rooms were great and we slept very well thanks to the lovely mattresses, soft cotton sheets and comfortable pillows.
Breakfast was a treat with fresh varied juices and fruits and eggs cooked to order.
The location couldn’t be better. Just a few minutes walk from one of the delightful town squares.
We will most definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.

Gorgeous old hotel with great character. Our room was stunning! It’s perfectly located close to the old centre of Cuenca and breakfast was very good.
I would suggest asking for a room that doesn’t overlook the main street as we found it noisy at night.

Wonderful old style hotel outside the centre of Guayaquil.
We had a huge suite and we felt like a Honeymoon Couple!
Food was lovely and the staff were very kind.
It was so peaceful up on the hill and we slept really well.
We would definitely recommend this hotel over those in the busy Malecon area.

The hot spring pools were wonderful. Rooms were so comfortable and nicely decorated. Food was excellent and staff were all very friendly. Would definitely live to return here!

Very pleasant stay here for our 1 night in Mindo. It’s such a great place to “get away from it all”!
Having dinner and breakfast on the balcony overlooking the treetops was wonderful.
Staff were very kind and friendly.

This was such a luxurious hotel and the grounds were incredible!

Alpaca Encounter at Quilotoa Lagoon

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t in our favour the day we visited. We didn’t see any Alpacas, but the fog was so heavy we could hardly see our hand in front of our faces!
The drive (until we hit the fog) was pleasant however and we had a lovely lunch in one of the small restaurants near to the lagoon.

The Adventure Continues - Hiking Day at Cotopaxi National Park- Overnight at a Hacienda.

We had glimpses of Cotapaxi summit (and when we did see it, it was beautiful!
The National Park was beautiful though and there’s lots to enjoy even if you don’t see the volcano that clearly.

Again we had very poor visability the day we were to see Chimborazo peak. We asked the guide to turn back 10 minutes after we hit the dense fog (about 20 minutes before the summit) and instead we enjoyed the lower area close to Riobamba.

We loved Cuenca! Very traditional and very walkable around the old centre. This was one of our favourite places in Ecuador.

Enjoyable scenery but I was a bit underwhelmed to be honest! The photo stop at the top was good but I think perhaps I expected more from the National Park area.

Kimkim did an incredible job as usual! Alvaro was terrific to work with and and answered all of my questions in a timely manner and worked with us to put together a memorable vacation.
Once we were there Rita was also excellent to work with. She coordinated everything and she was always met us in-person with a bright smile to get our daily plans started.
Overall it was a trip of a lifetime!
