High Point Holidays and Randonnees Outre-Manche

15 years on from taking our first bookings, High Point Holidays has grown from small beginnings in the Beaujolais region of France to cover active holidays across the UK France, and elsewhere in Europe.

We specialise in active holidays including hiking and cycling trips, mainly self-guided, where travellers immerse themselves in the local way of life, through our careful choice of accommodation, location, and routes.

We are a truly independent tour operator; not part of a large company. The majority of our holidays are set up or created by us based on our principles, so we have full control of all aspects of the trip from the choice of the guest house and transfers to the smaller key details.

The philosophy of the company has been clear from the beginning; to provide good quality, active holidays with a commitment to personal and flexible service. We create unique walking holidays with authentic local experiences.

We are here to help you every step of the way. You can contact us always, before, during and after your holiday, to ensure your satisfaction.

Brenda was our tour guide for the Uffizi, while Ishmael took us on a walking tour of Florence. Both were so knowledgeable and kind. Our evening golf cart tour was great and really hit the highlights of Rome.

In addition to the tours, all our train tickets were perfect and ground transportation companies were on time and most pleasant.

Alessandro was our tour guide for this activity. It was the most important thing to us on our trip to Italy. We could not have asked for a more informative, enjoyable, organized tour guide. He created this tour so that we felt like we almost had the Vatican to ourselves. He had visual guides with his iPad that really explained what we were seeing and the history behind all. His English was perfect - he was just amazing!

This was a great tour and tour guide. Our only comment was that it was about 3-4 hours long without any breaks. For example, when walking through the market area, it would have been great to have some time to explore there instead of stopping at so many sites that were somewhat forgettable.

Our guide was not waiting for us in the airport but I guess waiting until we were actually done and instead trying to connect via the What's App. It was right as we came into Rome and created a bit of stress thinking he/she forgot us. If he would have at least been waiting in the airport with a sign with our name, it would have been appreciated, but instead he was waiting in his car and we worried that we had been forgotten. In addition, our understanding was that the driver would give us a bit of history and overview of Rome. Unfortunately, he did not speak really any English. This was the only part of the trip that was disappointing.

We recently returned from an incredible 8-day family trip to Ireland, and we cannot thank your team enough for the care, detail, and thoughtful planning that went into our itinerary. From the very beginning, everything was smooth, organized, and clearly designed with our family’s interests in mind.

From start to finish, we felt fully supported. Even through our arrival delay, Claire and her team were available and made the needed adjustments seemlessly. The personalized itinerary balanced scenic drives, cultural highlights, and hands-on adventures perfectly — something that kept all four of us engaged, including two teens! The mix of guided experiences and flexible time allowed us to explore at our own pace without feeling rushed.

Highlights of our trip included:
The Falconry Adventure in Killarney was a family favorite and something we’ll be talking about for years.

Kayaking on the Lakes of Killarney was both peaceful and thrilling (when the wind picked up on our return paddle).

The Cliffs of Moher, especially seeing them from the water, was absolutely breathtaking.

And of course, the warm welcomes and live traditional music in local pubs made the evenings feel like a celebration.

We also appreciated the well-chosen accommodations — each hotel was comfortable, family-friendly, and conveniently located. The included breakfasts were excellent and helped us fuel up before big days of exploring.

Your team's attention to detail, from Google Maps links and local tips to activity vouchers and backup contacts, made this trip feel easy and stress-free. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches for navigating car rentals and parking.

This was our first trip to Ireland, and because of your team, it definitely won’t be our last. We’d recommend your services without hesitation to anyone looking for a well-curated, immersive, and family-friendly travel experience.

Thank you again for helping us create memories that will last a lifetime.

We had a terrific experience. Regret we lost our first day, but know it was no one’s fault due to a fire at Heathrow. It took Jim until 3am that Thursday night to obtain flight verification to London and it ended up being by was of Frankfort Germany on Lufthansa. What a story!! We arrived in London the next day- mid morning.
Our guided tours to Royal London and Beatles Walking tour were exceptional. How amazing we ended up one on one with our guides. Fort loved both tours and enjoyed interacting with both men.

In retrospect, we probably had too much scheduled as we didn’t make it to a couple of places. But, everything we did was terrific AND only makes us and Fort want to return!!

Jim loved the Beatles tour… we all enjoyed it, but he loved it!! Loved Westminster Abbey. Cutty Sark was a huge hit and Greenwich was so interesting. We all loved Churchill Bunker- Jim and Fort stuck together to take it all in. Again, a great success.
Weather amazing- only rained when we were on train to Windsor- we were lucky! We actually headed to Windsor as soon as we got into our hotel. It didn’t give us a full day and we exited with guides…asking questions the whole way. It was still wonderful. The doll house will have to wait!! So proud we successfully navigated metro and train to get there!! We walked 10-12,000 steps daily…so we certainly saw and experienced a lot!!
Hotel was quite nice- accommodating, comfortable, good breakfast…lovely dining area.
(I know I’ve left out something…- forgive me if I did!!)
Thanks to Jane for her patience with us. We tried to make it perfect…and we we’ll say it was awfully close to it!!

Many thanks-

Jessica/ Jim Robinson

Very comfortable, quiet accommodations in the heart of Edinburgh. Very spacious, strong WiFi, and is a place that a large group could stay for several days. A solid place--the staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean, and comfortable, and the hotel is in a great location.

The location was wonderful and provided a unique experience for the family. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The biggest questions were based on the New Years' celebration events. While we initially believed there would be options to eat locally or eat within the hotel at the bar, the only option was to buy tickets for a New Years Dinner.

Possibly the highlight of the trip, Gareth was interesting and informed. This felt more like a 3 hour discussion between Gareth and our family of 4 than a simple tour were you are blasted with facts and figures.

Again, a strong contender for being the main highlight, Stirling castle was a great experience. The parking was easy, Stirling is a central city to Scottish history, the castle is well-maintained, and the tour guides were great. I was surprised when my teenage daughters wanted to keep exploring after 2 hours!

The Wee Tour of Scotland tasting menu was a good culinary experience. We enjoyed a set course meal of five or six dishes, offering a nice variety of Scottish cuisine. It was a solid four out of five experience.

Hi Chad, Thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled that you had such an outstanding trip, from Edinburgh’s history with Gareth to the stunning hikes in Glencoe and Skye. We do appreciate your understanding about the holiday season—while we do our best to organize everything, some hotels operate with a lighter service during that time. We're sorry that the Glencoe Inn had only the bistro menu available during your stay.

Thanks again for your thoughtful feedback, and we hope to welcome you back to Scotland in the future!

Best,

Everything was great, from the hotel stays, hotel locations pickup, and all the small local tours…everything was smooth. Couldn't ask better.

Our only concerns pertain to the two planned day trips, which held significant anticipation, particularly for the girls given the rich historical context.

So, trip to Cardoba/ Carmona from seveille was not what we were expecting, even though we paid extra for a private tour for comfort and convenience. The driver got a very small car; we were all seated cramped for the long drive. No hotel pick up and drop off provided even though thats what our local representative told us thats irs part of private tour. Then, the mosque was closing soon, so we spent only half an hour there, although the expected time was a little more than an hour. In fact, our local guide told the driver to arrive half an hour early so that she could show the mosque property, but he refused, and he did the same for Carmona; he didn't show much interest.when i asked him in the car after my chat with Marine

Segovia and Toledo were total chaos, with 50 people on a large bus. Though it was supposed to be small grp,and on top it's was bilingual group We were just rushing through things; there were no proper restroom or food breaks. The restrooms were overly dirty, and when we declined the food place from tour guide choice because there was only one vegetarian salad option.AND it was more of BAR with overly crowded and lots of cigarettes smoke and alcohol, we wanted a family lunch place not a BAR so we told her that we will look ourselves for other options to eat in town, She became angry and started talking loudly, ugly words, which was very insulting, but she behaved similarly toward others on other occasions..so basically she had a really bad attitude towards tourists even though it's all paid, nothing free
So we will appreciate if you take care of those kind of suppliers in future because we all put lot of trust in you guys and money to make our lifetime memories . Hope you all will understand my point.
Thanks

We should have done this earlier in our visit. A great way to see the city from a vantage point. And don't overlook the Old Calton Cemetery directly across as you approach on Princes Street.
