Thank you for your review! I'm glad to hear that you had a wonderful time on your trip to Iceland and that you got to see many cetaceans and puffins during your whale watching tour. However, I apologize for any lack of communication once the fee was paid. Having clear and timely communication with our travelers is one of our main goals and we strive to keep it this way. If you have any specific concerns or feedback about the communication during the trip planning process, it would be extremely helpful if you let us know about them so that we can improve our service for future travelers. Overall, I hope that the positives of your trip outweighed any negatives, and that you have many happy memories of your time in Iceland.

Be prepared for the unexpected.

Lots of back and forth in creating the trip to Iceland . Packed what were quite a few stops on the self driven tour putting on 1650km in essentially 6 days. The driving instructions along with the commentary was well thought out and professionally done. Weather conditions changed dramatically through the days there and the weather reports essentially were pretty erratic. On our way back from Vik we got hit with a storm that the car rental folks said was only the 4th time in the last 75 years it snowed with such fury this late in the season. Counted at least 15 cars along the way that needed to be pulled out of ditches. If you are traveling in hump seasons be sure to get road hazard protection. I did and fortunately did not have to use it. I think I included too many stops on the first day after an early morning arrival ( 5am) but better to over than under plan. Most of the hotels were very nice but small as are most in Europe. Breakfasts were very good with Langaholt the most unique, the Skuggi missing a warm bacon, egg, and sausage option. Accommodations at Hotel Vik and Langaholt quite plain, Geysir and Magma most scenic and well appointed hotel. Liked the B59 Hotel beds, nice and firm. Very much enjoyed the Freidheimar tomato lunch, and dinner at the Magma Hotel. Check in a breeze. With all the reviews and articles I read on Iceland I have to concur that layering -merino wool long johns- hiking boots, scarf, hats, and gloves especially to a 75 year old that does not enjoy cold weather were a must.

The Icelandic tour guides ( from Poland) were all very well informed and congenial so no complaints there. The people of Iceland have been able to stay focused on keeping their unique country environmentally beautiful clear of graffiti and litter and word of caution- watch out for scooters and bicycles.

Our ten day trip to Iceland was very memorable where the tour arranged by Emanuela allowed us to see and do a lot in a very short time. The first thing that caught our eye was the beauty of Iceland. Emanuela arranged a car rental for us and we drove over a thousand miles where we saw lava fields, dozens of water falls, glaciers, gorgeous remote coastlines, and snow capped mountains.

Emanuela also arranged plenty of activities which engaged us and our teenage kids. This included snow mobiling, hikes, an ATV tour of the coastline, ice cave hikes, glacier hikes, and hikes at waterfall sites. It was a packed schedule but appreciated the nice hotels with warm cozy rooms, plenty of hot water, and good food.

We do recommend that if you travel to Iceland in the Spring to buy offshore sailing gear (foul weather gear). It rained 8 of the 10 days we were in Iceland and when the rain comes down sideways, it does sting. Good foul weather gear will protect you and keep you toasty.

He made sure we had timely bathroom breaks, lunch and dinner. We were glad to find vegetarian options at every stop. Weather on day 1 wasnt great with rain and wind. So we went directly for glacier hiking with some stops based on weather. Glacier hiking and ice cave tour was great. Need to have good shoes, jacket, gloves, snow pants. Inspite of that we got wet and cold. Wish they would provide appropriate gear so its more pleasant experience. All our gear and shoes were completely wet and had to use hair dryer and paper to dry so we could use it next day. The guest house was basic but good food.

We were in Iceland in April for a series of concerts by the American band Wilco. We love the band, and a visit to Iceland is something we had on our bucket list, so it was natural. The first four days of our trip were spent traveling the sparsely populated South Coast, then back up through Thingvellier. The next four days were spent in Reykjavik.

Iceland is an amazing country, and we absolutely loved our visit. One might say we were a bit unlucky with the weather--lots of rain in April! But my wife and I felt we got a real taste of the combination of the incredible shifting microclimates and precipitation patterns against the landscape. We saw water in every form. We had blazing sun, near hurricane level wind with rain, dense fog, brilliant rainbows, ice caves, and hail. It was almost psychedelic. I would never have imagined that ice climbing by a volcano in the rain, with an avalanche (that made us turn back), would be so exhilarating. It was. Talk about feeling alive. Wow.

Favorite Hotel
360 Hotel: Anna and her husband run a beautiful and serene place. The food was superb. We'd go back there in a heartbeat

Favorite Destinations
- Black Sand Beach in Vik. The columnar basalt formations, the power of the sea, and the volcanic outcroppings made it a mythical place
- The Gullfoss waterfall
- Reykjavik's Harpa Center was also spectacular.

Favorite Food
- lamb stew
- licorice

Best Moves
- Go directly from the airport to the Blue Lagoon: totally refreshes after the international travel. Can't think of a better way to start any adventure than this
- Having the mobile wifi device that came with our car assured us that we would have excellent connectivity everywhere, so using Waze and accessing the internet was easy and especially appreciated when in remote areas
- Having truly waterproof outwear--total lifesaver (nothing like being prepared!)

Biggest Surprise
- Iceland is effectively a bi-lingual country. Everyone speaks English, and we never even needed to exchange currency

Final Thought
- Iceland is a complex and beautiful place we will surely visit again. Remember, as they say there, "It's not just cold; it's expensive."

It took so much stress out of the planning. Every day had a program, and we stuck to it. The highlights were both the Blue Lagoon and Sky Lagoon (beginning and end of the trip), and the ATV adventure. Even in the rain it was awesome! The fun surprises were the beautiful photos at Diamond Beach, the extra-strong winds at Dryhoemy (55 km/hr), the blue of the ice cave with the spring river rushing through it, and the wonderful food wherever we went. We were also impressed by Icelandic infrastructure and architecture - which really keeps out the cold! We missed out on the glacier walk because of the strong winds, and didn't get to see the northern lights - so perhaps we'll have to come back. Overall it was a wonderful experience that I would recommend to others.

We got really lucky and saw humpback whales and several orcas and their babies. While it was awesome to see these creatures in the wild, the water was pretty choppy, and not for the faint of heart (or stomach). It is an outdoor boat - so cold, and there was competition for the best spots on the rails to get photos. I'd still recommend this experience.

Terry did a great job guiding our not quite winter and not quite spring trip. We loved being in the northern part of the country for a time- soaking and going dog sledding.

In the south we had terrific winds so our glacier experience was cancelled but the natural beauty along the coast did not disappoint.

Our itinerary was ambitious and Terry really helped map it all out and helped us get to all the places we wanted to see.

One small critique- Europ-Car did not have the Wi-Fi rental at the rental desk both times we rented from them and we had to take additional time to go to another office to get it. Both locations saw that it was on the reservation but did not bother to bring the device to the airport to give to us.

It was also not clear that we have limited Wi-Fi with the pucks they use. This was not a problem but it would have been nice to know that there was a limit on the number of GB we could use.

ONCE IN A LIFETIME…Until I return!

Silvia found the perfect guide in Gummi—one who took special time and attention to make sure we all had an unforgettable experience. Not only do I feel like I saw the landscape and majestic beauty of the land, but I also saw the kindness of the Icelandic culture and community. Iceland has captured my heart and created the most cherished memories.

I have already recommended the KimKim team to all that have asked!

Gummi & Silvia—thank you! This trip was magical!

What a spectacular anniversary and adventure trip! We want to return & explore further with Gummi when we are able to in the late summer/fall of a year. From start to finish the experiences of traveling to Iceland was made simple & efficient with Silvia! Skól! Salud! Cheers! Drink! Thank you! Gracias! Our accolades & appreciation for Gummi & Silvia are infinite.
Gummi proved to be the perfect guide and ideal travel historian/explorer/caretaker/leader for the 5 of us. His temperament, attitude, insights, perspectives, transparency, frankness, humor and constant support were priceless! Just a cool f*ck*ng VIKING that helped us discover Iceland in unique and unparalleled fashion. Everyone, including the five of us loved & was amazed with the SuperJeep. So many tourists kept posing for pictures with it when we were both in & out of the mammoth Goliath. Gummi & Goliath the duo will fondly be remembered. Next time in Iceland, we will have Gummi drive a 6-door, 13-washing machine long x 5-washing machine tall, 56" tire real-VIKINGJeep. We will explore the rest of the island, visit more hot lagoons, spend a few more days in Rekjavik, enter the Artic Circle, and learn more from Gummi, while being catered to & cared for like toddlers. The accommodations were stellar. The perfect timing & ease of doing laundry was spot on! We got to see the Aurora Borealis twice. Once the evening we arrived at Hotel Strattca, after 36-hours of traveling & immediate adventure with Gummi & the 2nd on a remote night at Laki Hotel! From Geysirs to Ice Caves, a City Food Tour, the Valley of Thor, including two awesome hikes to experience glaciers from a majestic peaks & valleys, delicious fancy dinners, and Kiki for a Drag Show on St. Patrick's Day capped with tasty hot fries from Mandi, our time was packed with fun & excitement. We had tasty breakfast each morning at our hotels & dinner on-site each of the first 4-nights. All of which were convenient & yummy! I am not sure how this trip could have been improved. The weather was perfect, aside from the strong breezes that persisted for all our outdoor explorations! Luckily we all came prepared & pulled out every accessory & layer to ensure we were remained warm enough & protected from the harsh breeze. Hot feet & hot hands were great items we packed. There is so much more to add that explains how awesome & perfect this experience with Gummi & Silvia proved to be worth every cent. We extend our deepest gratitudes, huge hugs & a hearty VIKING roar with a joyful f*ck you in our appreciation.

We enjoyed the drinks & dinner each night! The hot tub & sauna were awesome on our second night. As it was very cold & during the week, we have these two our small group. We got to see the Northern Lights one the first night & the awesome glassed wall & roof tunnel with easy access doors, made this all the more spectacular. We loved the radiator geothermal heaters & it was nice to have a refrigerator. Vlad was very helpful, responsive & accommodating of our requests. The breakfast was huge & diverse with something for everyone. Even filter coffee! We enjoyed our stay here!

We enjoed Maga. She gave us our first fermented shark experience & enjoyed it with us. The bar was perfect & even had playing cards for us to enjoy during our stay. The 2nd night we enjoyed playing cards, drinking & stepping out on the bar balcony intermittently to take photos & pose with the Aurora Borealis! It was beautiful as it danced across the sky! The morning breakfast was diverse & tasty. I think we all enjoyed the Skyr here the most of the 3-hotels. The dinner buffet was delicious each evening & the ease of use of much appreciated. We are so glad we used the laundry service, which was flawless.

Authenticity & Character
One of a kind! The bar & balcony were so much fun! The remote location gave a pitch black night were the Northern Lights & stars were on dynamic display. Thanks for the playing cards!
Location
As we had a private guide, and this location was excellent for him to help us have unique & remote adventures.

We saw Maga every morning & evening! She was ever-present, personable & memorable. We adore her. The other ladies supporting the bar & meals were excellent too. The chef was nice & present for each meal.

Skuggi Hotel Reykjavík by Keahotels
Reykjavík

This place was fabulous! We were able to walk everywhere & explore many parts of Rekjavik from the Skuggi. From the Sun Voyager, to Harpa, the Rainbow Road, Kiki, Bravo, 3 Frakkar, Fish Mrkt, Mandi, the Iceland Phallological Museum, the Bar at the End of the Rainbow, the lovely Sky Lagoon, and everything in between we loved Rekljavik & the Skuggi was the perfect location. Here again we loved the radiant geothermal heat.

Authenticity & Character
We talked about the black & grey motif with the Behind the Mountains theme everyday. It was conveniently located & unique. Almost hidden in this one-of-a-kind city.
Location
Was perfect for our exploration of Rekjavik.
Staff
Everyone was pleasant. The front desk staff were impeccable, kind, gracious & positive with every interaction. The breakfast staff kind & fast. We felt rushed with the ending of breakfast each morning. We were disappointed that things as easy as the coffee were whisked away & dumped down the drain right at 1000. We appreciated the ice cold water that was available 24/7.
Cleanliness & Comfort
This place was lovely ! We appreciated the small window that remained open during our entire stay. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator.

Lily Bjork was amazing! Her positive energy & vibrant presence were perfect for a terrific exploration of the food in Rekjavik. I had my first horse, enjoyed fermented shark with Brennivin and adored the perfect Icelandic Hotdog with chocolate milk. Our private tour guide Gummi treated us to this exact hotdog place upon arrival in Rekjavik. The atmosphere & experience facilitated by Lily resulted in 12 of us, most of the tour group, enjoying drinks at the Jungle afterwards. We went briefly to see Lily perform on 3/17 at the Irishman Pub.

We were able to view the Northern Lights at both Hotel Strattca on night one & at Laki Hotel on night four. So we never had to hunt much for this experience. One slight regret is that we did not expect to see the Northern Lights while in Rekjavik, However, on our first night their, night 5 of the trip, the lights were bright & visible throughout Rekjavik. We sadly did not even look for them that night. That night may have been a great night for a evening hunt north of the city to see the bright lights one last time.

Nice enough hotel. We got to see the northern lights here. Dinner buffet was not good, and cost us about $60 CAD per person because there was no other option for food. The dinner was a huge disappointment. They had the rooftop area closed because there were too many Filipinos staying at the hotel. Yes, that was the exact comment to us. We were told we could go up on the roof by one staff member and then another staff member was so rude and ignorant when we asked for directions to the roof top viewing area. The same staff member was a complete witch the next day as well when we crossed paths with her. When I mentioned her behaviour to some awesome staff members it was confirmed she was the owner so ya…wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

Newer building and older building combined. Incredible location with views of mountains and the ocean. Front desk lady was helpful and pleasant. We were in the new part with a mixed view of mountains and ocean as well as a balcony do that was lovely. But it seems they shouldn’t be renting out those rooms as they aren’t done yet.
