This was our first time going to Portugal but Joao was so incredible addressing all of our questions over multiple emails and phone calls while planning the trip and then connecting with us daily via whatsapp to ensure we had the details for each day and also checking in with us at the end of the day to see how everything went. It was my birthday during the trip and Joao went above and beyond as a surprise, specializing a private boat tour of the Lagos grottoes (our Blue Fleet boat guides Rui & Fea were so lovely and kind) and then when we got back to our hotel room there was a bottle of bubbly on ice and a birthday cake. Unreal and so touching! All the drivers/ guides were terrific, in particular Tony in Porto and Miguel in Lisbon. The level of customer service from Joao and company was second to none.

Fabulous hotel. Grounds huge overlooking the Atlantic and direct access to the beautiful boardwalk and panoramic cliffs. So peaceful. Our room had a beautiful private large patio that also led to shared space. Breakfast buffet was superb- chef prepared eggs to order- wonderful selection and comfortable dining area.

We were there late March and theOutdoor Pool was open and looked great but we didnt use. Underground parking was great for peace of mind with rental car. Easy walking access to the town.

Lovely old historic hotel in the heart of Lisbon. Small rooms but clean and comfortable but ours overlooked the street so leaving windows open was an issue due to noise. Breakfast buffet fine but not extensive- small dining area and it was quite crowded for seating during our stay. There is a small outdoor deck on the 5 th floor which was nice to have. So close to the Ave. Liberdade for enjoyable tree covered walks and outdoor food kiosks and downtown Lisbon.

Exploring Porto's Rich History on an Exclusive Gastronomic Tour Through Time

Disappointing. We only explored/walked to 1 area of Porto about 800m -1km from our hotel. While the history of this street / area was interesting it wasthe only 2 streets we walked and we spent most of our time sitting. Given that our tour started @ 10am- sitting down to eat a large meal less than 1 hour later ( and having just eaten breakfast) without much walking was too much. Wine tasting and charcuterie board followed 30 minutes later- again no time to digest with limited walking between.

Lovely to be on the river but we did not know that you had to/ should download the audio guide for the tour ahead of time. As there is little to no cell coverage in the valley most people on the boat could not successfully access the English audio tour so we did not have any information about what we were seeing. The boat guide did not provide any assistance/ share about any of the river tour sites either in Portugese or English- just sat at the back of the boat. So, beautiful 1 hour vistas on the river but would not describe this as a tour.

This was a private tour and so special. Our Blue Fleet boat guides Fea and Rui were wonderful and went out of there way to make our tour memorable.

In Porto, our group of 3 ladies had a great trip to the Douro Valley with Bruno. We learned so much about the history and practices of the area, enjoyed a traditional meal, and sampled some great wines.
In Sintra, Teresa provided an amazing palace tour and winery stopover, while adding a surprise visit to a breath-taking mountain vista.
In Lagos, the bicycle tour, the cave tour, as well as the mountain, beach, and sunset tour left us feeling as if we had truly experienced Portugal’s best!

The itinerary that James put together for us did not disappoint. From Lisbon to Sintra to Cascais, to Evora, to Coimbra, to Douro Valley and finally to Porto. All accommodations were unique and above par, absolutely no complaints. I can't say enough great things about the tours and the guides that were booked. All of the guides were professional, knowledgeable and fun! The drivers were all exceptional. Overall, the trip was amazing. Thanks, KimKim!

Our 16 day trip through Portugal was fantastic. This could take some time as everything was as close to perfect as you could expect. We started in Lisbon and finished in Porto. Every detail was considered and taken care of by the KimKim team. James laid out a great itinerary, Chaima and Sam handled things when we arrived. From early check-in to prearrange transportation, all was perfect. Tour guides were always on time, prepared and well informed and all provided amazing recommendations throughout or tours. Every arranged pick up was perfect. Ana Filippa was amazing through the walking tour of Lisbon and was very helpful with recommendations for our other stops through Portugal. She answered every question and was able to anticipate most. Filipe was full of information throughout our food & wine tour in Lisbon. He also had many recommendations for the rest of our trip. He was as pleasant and interesting a person as you would want to meet. Next, Joao took us on our day trip to Sintra and then on to Cascais where we spent 2 nights. What a beautiful place. Again, all the information you would expect and more. We did make him run a little as we left our hotel a little early and just hopped into our ride without checking if the driver was our actual guide. He quickly caught his breath and was perfect for our day trip. We then spent 2 glorious nights in Evora and had a winery tour in Alentejo region which was fantastic. Highly recommend the winery tour with the private, home cooked lunch at the winery. Just amazing food and wine. Then it was off to Coimbra for 3 wonderful nights. Sara took us out for our walking tour of Coimbra - a great university town with a tremendous history. As a previous student at the university, she had all the insider information on the area along with some wonderful stories about attending a school that was founded in 1290. She also recommended a wonderful place to listen to Fado music. It was amazing. We then headed to the Douro Valley for 2 glorious nights at Quinta da Corte Estate winery. Breathless views, amazing wine and port, great food and one hang on to the holy sh*t handle drive on some steep and narrow roads to get there. First time can be intimidating but it gets better the more you drive around. From the moment we arrived to the when we left, we were made to feel at home. Our guide through the Douro Valley was Francisco. Again, full of knowledge and interesting facts about the region. Francisco was also helpful with suggestions for us as we would be heading to Porto next. We had Miguel as our walking tour guide and our bike tour. He was amazing. Especially through the rain filled bike tour. We were all drenched and still, Miguel made it wonderful. From the market to the fish lunch. All things considered, this was one of the best vacations we have taken. Thanks to All who helped make this happen.

From staying in beautiful hotels in the right locations, to day trips to historic destinations and gorgeous coastal towns, to educational guided walking tours, to our amazing driver Paolo, the trip enabled us to immerse in the culture, history and beauty of Portugal. Our travel agent Joao was with us every step of the way through Whatsapp, giving us our daily itinerary, suggesting restaurants and ensuring we enjoyed every aspect of the trip. We just fell in love with the country and its people and plan to go back for an extended stay next year! Thank you KimKim and Across Portugal for this amazing experience!

This was a wonderful trip and James and his team made the planning and execution seamless. We loved the hotels they chose, especially Casa Balthazar in Lisbon - very intimate, beautiful and charming hotel with a spacious room, helpful staff and in a great neighborhood. We loved Lisbon and Porto. The walking tour in Lisbon was really fun and informative, as was the bike ride there but a little scary (for me) with so many people walking, riding scooters, some cars etc. on the bike path. It was hard to navigate. It was not a big deal but I just hadn't anticipated that from the description. But seeing all the people was also quite fun and it was a very scenic ride.
Possibly my favorite place was Coimbra, the old and very picturesque university town. I liked seeing a smaller city that was very walkable, historic and interesting. I would have liked to spend more time there and skipped Aveiro. This was not a fault of Kimkim; I could have done more research about it beforehand. Our guide for a bike ride in Porto, Jose, was very informative, patient, and took us to a fabulous restaurant where we chose our fish (in Afurada, near Gaia). We also really liked our guide for the trip to the Douro Valley, Francisco, who was fun and interesting, and the trainee Paulo who came along. The quinta we went to was beautiful. I think Kimkim did a great job of planning for us considering I had said I didn't want to stay in too many different places. I might ask next time for suggestions about something a little more off the beaten path to do, particularly if we have more time, such as meeting with a family or a cooking class. The additional suggestions that Kimkim provided for places to see and eat in each city were also great!
We found and went to the Museum of Liberation and Resistance in Lisbon, which I highly recommend. It's a smaller museum in a former prison that explains all about the dictatorship, censorship, jailing, exiles and resistance movements, so we learned a lot we didn't know before, and it is in the Alfama district in a picturesque area.

Our guide, Walter, was really nice and informative. However, personally I was not thrilled with Aveiro. We were allotted a lot of time there we did not need. They call it the "Venice of Portugal" but the canal ride and scenery is overhyped (in my opinion - others might love it!). There are a lot of nice cafes and interesting history of salt production in Aveiro, and some good architecture but overall I could have spent more time in Coimbra, or go to Obido instead I think. Not the fault of Kimkim, I just didn't really think about this. It sounded like there are lots of canals to wander around the city but that isn't the case. We were on a boat ride with a huge bunch of schoolchildren and couldn't really hear or undersatnd the information from the guide on the boat.

Really fun to pedal through Gaia and have great views of Porto. We had a great lunch at an outdoor restaurant in Afurada. The guide was very understanding of my fear of riding through the Porto streets at the begnning and took it slowly. He even stayed with us for a while after the tour and showed us more things in Porto, such as some of the famous and beautiful churches, but we did then want to determine ourselves what we were going to do after that. He had a really interesting background and it was great getting to know the various guides and learn more about their lives.

Our trip to Portugal was OUTSTANDING. I have always loved researching destinations, finding the perfect hotels and booking tours, but this trip was to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and I wanted it to be really special. I planned some of the trip and Raquel planned the rest. Everything Kim Kim planned was perfect. Working with Raquel was easy -- I changed my mind SEVEN times and each time she adjusted our itinerary without complaint. We had three private tours; Celia in Porto was fabulous -- so much so that when the tour ended, we invited her to have a drink and spend time with us. The hotel in Coimbra was one beautiful and gorgeous and exactly our style and aesthetic. Our guide Jose in Lisbon was terrific. Paolo took us to Sintra for day trip and we met his wife, and had a wonderful experience. All the guides were highly vetted, super knowledgeable and really personable. The app makes communicating with Raquel easy and all information is at your fingertips. I will definitely use Kim Kim again!!

Karenina was very helpful and responsive to our various changes, but the biggest takeaway I have is that six days are not enough for a visit to Portugal, with Porto in particular needing at least four days. That was our limitation, not hers, but when we come back, we will allow enough time for a proper visit. In Lisbon, the first day tour was comprehensive but a bit of a forced march to cover everything - we reached our daily step goal on the tour alone. Our guide for the Sintra side trip on the second day was great and very charming, making sure that we experienced everything from the 19th century palace to the westernmost point in Europe as well as the port of Caiscas. We took it a bit easier on the third day, visiting the flea market but managing to get on the ferry to Barreiro rather than Cacilhas. (A little more guidance on the Lisbon ferry terminals would have been helpful. Also, the suggestions for street markets should take into account the actual days of the visit.) We managed to find a decent seafood restaurant, where we ordered our fish by pointing at the dorade, a definitely non touristico place. The transit to Porto was excellent. We were too tired to visit the university but we had a good time with an outdoor lunch. Our guide to the Douro Valley was outstanding, making sure that we experienced everything, and his choice of a winery turned out to be inspired, with a home cooked meal to accompany the four wines that we tasted and great company and talk. We were fortunate on the last day to have the owner of the tour company guide us, as she was beyond exuberant and was a whole lot of fun for us both. The transfer back was fine and the airport hotel perfectly located for our early morning flight. All in all, one of our best vacations.

The drive/guide was outstanding in making sure that we experienced the Douro Valley, and his choice of a winery was excellent.

It was a nice trip overall. The tours were great and we enjoyed learning about the history of Portugal. The food tour with Ilana was awesome, especially as it catered to my friends taste being vegetarian.
The day trip to Sintra was also good. In hindsight I would probably just do only Sintra and spend the day there.

Karenina was great - she answered all my questions prior to the trip. She also re-arranged things for us when things didnt go according to plan which was really nice of her.

The service at the hotel was not good at all. My friend encountered a lovely receptionist on the first day. But the person we spoke to on the fourth night was very unhelpful and couldn't be bothered to help with us having a breakfast bag the next day as we were leaving early. We did have the breakfast bag only because the nice receptionist on the first day had made a note. But it did sour our experience of the trip just because of one person. Would definitely not be recommending this hotel to anyone or to have it as your place of stay in Lisbon.

We were very pleased with the trip planning and support Pedro provided us prior and during our recent trip to Portugal. We had an excellent experience in Portugal and found most of the itinerary interesting and fun. Most importantly our guides and drivers were all 5 stars++. Communication among all was excellent.

We stayed in Lisbon at the Tivoli a truly first-class hotel with a beautiful lobby and attentive well-trained staff. Our guide in Lisbon was Ricardo who showed us the beautiful city and took us to a number of spots for a better understanding of the city and what it has to offer. He made some very good recommendations as to other places to visit and shop.

Our only disappointment in Lisbon was the Fado performance. The food and wine were terrible and the performance okay. If this is something of interest to you, we suggest finding a restaurant with a good meal, and going to a Fado performance afterwards. There seemed to be a number of places offering this type of music.

Our trips to Sintra and back/forth to Porto were excellently guided by our driver Eduardo. We cannot say enough good things about him. He was knowledgeable, offered excellent suggestions as to things to see and do, and even made lunch reservations for us at places we had our best meals at.

In Porto we had a super guide in Tereza who showed us the city and provided the Gastronomic Tour. We enjoyed some decent food and a very good wine and port tasting. She also made suggestions as to other sites and shopping. With a tour, lunch and wine tasting, we skipped the Port tasting, and chose to explore the city. Our disappointment in Porto was the hotel Pestana Porto. It is understaffed, and a somewhat tired hotel. The location while having beautiful river views, is in a very touristy area with many bars and restaurants that produce noise well into the night.

Our tour of the Douro Valley was excellent. Our driver Luis has and encyclopedic knowledge of the area, and wineries. Our lunch, winery tour and tasting at Pacheca was very good and we had a wonderful day.

Lastly, in Cascasi, we stayed at Pestana Cascais which was a unique experience. The hotel is well run and was very enjoyable. Cascasi was a fun last stop at a beach resort prior to heading home.

We were very pleased with KimKim and Adventure Portugal and would highly recommend Pedro and team.

The trip was good, the guides were good. I checked the hotel rates, the transfers, the guides the activities to book on your own. I had a hard time getting to a cost that was more than $400 a day. We were charged $900. I am willing to pay for convenience and local knowledge but not 2x more. Get a travel guide book, spend a week planning and you can do this same trip for half the cost. Would not use KimKim again. I don't know if the markup is because of KimKim or the agent but this was taking advantage.

We had a wonderful trip to Portugal! Many thanks to Raquel, who provided us with valuable guidance on what to include in our trip and helped us select tours that met our needs. We especially loved our guide, Paulo, who showed us around Sintra and Cascais. He was so warm and personable, and we even stopped to meet his wife in her local cafe in Sintra. We booked a day trip from Lisbon to Obidos and Nazare, ending in Coimbra, and our guide, Marta, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. The walking tour in Porto was very interesting, and we also loved our local guide, Kat.

Overall, it was a fabulous trip, and we definitely recommend using The KimKim Team to help you plan your travel!

Really wonderful trip, tailored to our needs. They made traveling so easy, and when there were major train strikes, expedient alternative car rental options were procured in impressive time. Highly recommended.

The hotel was beautiful, and very well designed. It was clean and the staff was very friendly. HOWEVER, these were the least comfortable beds I have ever slept on. They are like sleeping on concrete. SO stiff. Other than that, it was perfect.

STUNNING! ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! The views, the balconies, the staff, the gardens, everything was just beautiful. The suite was very well designed, and stylish. One minor flaw - the gym equipment was very old, and needs to be replaced. Outside of that, it's phenomenal.

This was not great. We had a 7 day trip, and we enjoyed it thoroughly, but I wish we had skipped the stop offs in Albuferia - It was a town full of British & Irish people, drunk in the middle of the day (I say that as an Irishman). Maybe it's a good town for a bachelor party, but the town was boring, and the architecture was pretty awful.

Pedro put together an amazing Portugal adventure for my family and I. All of the guides and drivers were fantastic. The hotels were great as well. Portugal is a wonderful country and I look forward to returning. Pedro and his team made planning simple and they are extremely responsive to answer your questions any time during the day. Having a private driver was a huge advantage when stopping in towns on our way from Lisbon to Porto. I would absolutely use Kimkim again.

Pedro really curated this trip to exactly what we talked about!! We had time on our own to explore each city along with a private guide for some of the time. We really enjoyed learning some of the history of Portugal and the places they showed us. Each guide really got a feel for what we were interested in and had some really great conversations. I keep joking with people not to go to Portugal because you will eat your weight in pastry and other amazing foods! I can’t believe how smooth the whole trip went. Everyone was wonderful. I have so many ideas now for a second trip!

Beatriz was able to put together an incredible trip that let us see all the places we wanted to see in both Portugal and Morocco. I was so impressed by the guides in each place. They were so knowledgeable and eager to share the wonders of their cities with us. The trip exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be taking more trips with kimkim.

This is the 2nd time we used the kimkim platform to plan/book our trip in Europe given our amazing experience on the first one in Italy. This time we worked with the Pedro and Joao to plan our trip in Portugal and the experience did not disappoint!

During the entire process (from planning to the actual trip), they took care of us very well in terms of transportation, airport pickup/drop off in odd hours, staying in touch throughout to answer questions, accommodating our last minute requests on visiting places etc. The crew was friendly, very responsive, and plainly excellent customer service.

We had a bunch of tours and activities planned at various cities we visited (Lisbon, Évora, Porto, Cascais), All the tour guides were knowledgeable, professional, speak excellent English, and fun. Especially we want to thank our Lisbon guide Ricky who gave us the tour in pouring rain without an umbrella fully demonstrated his professionalism and love of the city!

Our trip would have been perfect if the “Gastronomic Experience” in Porto was actually about food. It turned out to be another wine tasting tour and a gift buying stop for jam. With another wine cellar visit at Sandeman (I’d recommend to skip if you are visiting Pachuca also with a nice lunch the next day) in the afternoon, we ended up tasting 12 glasses in 1 day pp and left the kids hungry and bored. Porto is a beautiful city, but I wish they have more to offer for kids or family-friendly activities for those who don’t drink wine.

Overall, the trip was memorable for us but with room for improvements. The best of the best was the NYE fireworks, the seafood, the walking tours, and the wine (for the adults). Thank you the team at Kimkim and Across Portugal for bringing us this great trip!
