What you'll do

After transferring from Monteverde, you'll soon arrive at the Children's Eternal Rainforest entrance, where you'll meet your guide, eager to reveal the nocturnal life of Costa Rica's largest private reserve. With flashlights, you and your fellow naturalists will set out into the transitional forest, a region that bridges the cloud forest and the rainforest, following your naturalist guide as they skillfully navigate the dark trails. Use your senses to listen to and smell your surroundings until your guide points out various nocturnal creatures, perhaps tarantulas, snakes, frogs, and roosting birds, often elusive during the day.

You'll also learn about the reserve's efforts to maintain, preserve, and rehabilitate the region's ecosystems and biodiversity through environmental education, reforestation, sustainable development, and ecotourism.

The night walk is conducted on trails that are not too strenuous, making it suitable for most travelers. However, be prepared for the possibility of weather impacting your experience, as the rainforest can be unpredictable.

Be ready for slippery uneven paths in the dark. Everyone is given a torch for the duration of the hike.
