Golden Mar Menuda, Costa Brava
Beachfront hotel with sea views, an outdoor pool, an on-site restaurant, and rooms with balconies
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- It's definitely a plus to have a beachfront location, especially in beautiful Tossa de Mar, and when that location comes with views and easy access to the golden sand.
- The rooms and suites are spacious, modern, and comfortable; some have private balconies, terraces, and/or sea views.
- You can relax and exercise at the outdoor pool, on the huge terrace (perfect for sunrise yoga), and in a fitness room.
- The hotel's sun deck is pretty fun, with plenty of seating, mixing sun loungers, four-poster sunbeds, and wicker furniture with comfy cushions.
- Enjoy the restaurant's Mediterranean cuisine, and sit outside with views of the sea, beach, and rocks.
- Though perfectly comfortable, overall, the hotel lacks character and the rooms feel a bit basic.
- The rooms without sea views overlook the hotel's parking lot, and some units facing the sea have views of the roof with vents.
- Air conditioning is nice, but keep in mind that you can only use it from June through September.
Authenticity
During renovations in 2017 and 2018, Golden Mar Menuda put a contemporary spin on its lodging. Though this creates a fairly standard hotel vibe, you'll still find bright, airy rooms that use the beachfront location as their muse, mixing natural tones and textures. You'll also find local elements throughout the hotel, including ceramics, stone, and wood.Location
Golden Mar Menuda is located in the charming town of Tossa de Mar, just a few steps away from the golden sandy beach of Mar Menuda. The hotel is also close to the town center, where you can explore medieval streets, local shops, and restaurants. The walled Old Town is a 10-minute walk, and the path takes you right along the shore. If you'd like to explore the area, a 30-minute drive up the coast follows a very scenic route to Canyet de Mar, passing numerous coves and beaches.Rooms & Bathrooms
Though simple by design, you'll find bright and welcoming rooms at the hotel, some with private balconies or terraces overlooking the sea. Each room features modern amenities, including air conditioning, and bathrooms come with premium toiletries, and some feature large bathtubs. The hotel does a good job of bringing a natural vibe into the rooms, using light-colored wood and neutral tones and textures with pops of blue to represent the sea.Other Highlights
Golden Mar Menuda features a large outdoor pool and sundeck overlooking the beach and sea. The terrace is filled with furniture, so there's always a place to relax, whether in a sun lounger, hammock, cushy wicker loveseat, or poolside sunbed. The hotel's restaurant Sa Calma serves authentic Mediterranean cuisine for all meals. Breakfast is a generous buffet, and you'll have a la carte choices for lunch and dinner. There's also a bar and al fresco seating with fantastic sea views, perfect for sunset.Availability/Seasonality:
Golden Mar Menuda closes annually from November to April.
