Pros
  • The hotel's location is perfect, just a short walk from the beach and Old Town sites, including Tossa de Mar's medieval walls and castle.
  • You can relax at the rooftop pool of a sister hotel Delfin and two-story terrace with near panoramic views of the town, sea, and countryside.
  • Enjoy relaxing in all the unique lounge spaces, including an inner courtyard garden, a bar lounge, a cozy "chill out" terrace, and the outdoor patio with Art Deco architecture.
  • Hotel feel really unique, built in a similar way as Moroccan Riads
  • Some rooms have private balconies overlooking the sea.
Cons
  • The building is an architectural treasure, but the rooms don't match its Modernist past, and some feel a little plain.
  • Because the location is so central you may hear the noise from nearby cafes. Though, closing windows helps a lot.

Authenticity

Hotel Diana is a unique place to stay, as it has maintained the building's authentic Art Deco architecture and design for over 100 years old. The building was designed by Antoni de Falguera i Sivilla, protégé and collaborator of Josep Puig i Cadafalch, a famous  Modernist architect. The Town Council of Tossa de Mar awarded and protected the hotel's structure by designating it as a Unique Building. Enjoy exploring all the little nooks, crannies, and details throughout the building and its common spaces.

Location

You'll stay in the beautiful and historic seaside town of Tossa de Mar. The hotel is nestled between Plaça España and Platja Gran, so just a few steps take you to the beach, Old Town, and many restaurants, bars, and shops in the village. The historic medieval walls are just five minutes on foot, which brings you into the charming cobbled streets of the castle. If you want to walk to the top of the castle and reach the Cap de Tossa Lighthouse, plan for about 10 minutes.

Rooms & Bathrooms

The rooms at Hotel Diana are simple and comfortable, with tiled or wooden floors and warm, natural tones. For a standard hotel, the rooms feel quite elegant, though with a bit of character, and all have either Juliette balconies or private terraces. Families can book triple rooms with a sofa bed next to the double bed or opt for units with separated living areas for sofa beds with more privacy. Grab one of the suites if you'd like your own private terrace with incredible views of the sea and the medieval castle.

Other Highlights

There are many highlights to enjoy at Hotel Diana, which makes this affordable option such a great pick. You can spend time on the rooftop terrace with its outdoor pool, sundecks, and views. Or for a cozier experience, enjoy the inner courtyard garden or one of the outdoor lounges the hotel calls "chill-out spaces." The on-site restaurant is also a perk, with a beautiful Art Deco dining room, courtyard dining, or the option to sit on the terrace lining the beachfront promenade. You'll enjoy traditional Mediterranean food and regional drinks.

Hotel Diana is a true gem with character. The location is perfect, a couple of steps from the beach (just across the street which has mostly pedestrians) with a view of the Mediterranean. Staff is super friendly and happily shared recommedations for tapas bars, which were very in point (esp bar La Lluna!). My room was big with a partial ocean view. Staff is super friendly and happily shared recommedations for tapas bars, which were very in point (esp bar La Lluna!). My room was big with a partial ocean view. The building structure is European, ie not very sound proof and the furniture isn't the newest, but it didn't bother me since the character and style more than compensated for this. I would highly recommend this hotel to travelers who value comfort and authenticity.

The staff was extremely competent, gracious and spoke very good english. Great view of the ocean, right outside the door. The lobby area was very cool with Spanish tiles decorating it.
