Pros
  • Just down Calle Zaragoza from Plaza Nueva, the hotel offers an ideal location close to all of Seville's central landmarks.
  • The hotel occupies a converted turn-of-the-century palacio, so you'll find classic Andalusian details like interior courtyards with marble columns, leafy plants, and colorful tiles.
  • All rooms feature elegant decor, premium mattresses, and Egyptian cotton linens; upgraded options include private terraces with citrus trees and seating.
  • Paid parking is available, a unique perk for a hotel in Seville's historic center.
Cons
  • The on-site restaurant only serves breakfast, but you can order snacks and tapas at the bar, or choose from a light room service menu of sandwiches and salads.

Authenticity

This romantic boutique hotel occupies a converted turn-of-the-century palacio built around two soaring interior courtyards. Classic Andalusian details like stone archways and wrought-iron balconies remain, but the elegant interiors have been updated to a luxurious standard, with marble floors, floral wallpapers, and lantern-style pendant lamps. You'll find a delightful collection of Sevillian artworks and artifacts displayed throughout the common rooms, including Mudéjar tiles dating back to the 16th century and an oil portrait of Federico Gravina, a decorated admiral during the Napoleonic Wars and the hotel's namesake.

Location

Hotel Gravina 51 sits just steps away from Plaza Nueva in Seville's El Arenal neighborhood, meaning you can walk to all the major sites and a few spots often overlooked by visitors. In just 10 minutes or less, you can visit the Muelle de la Sal on the waterfront, Plaza del Cabildo, the Catedral de Seville, or Puente de Triana. As a bonus, the Triana and El Arenal districts are perfect for a tapear (tapas walk), a favorite Sevillan pastime. Paid and valet parking are available at the hotel, and it's a 20-minute drive to the Santa Justa train station or the airport.

Rooms & Bathrooms

All of the hotel's 38 air-conditioned rooms are beautifully appointed, with gilt headboards, chinoiserie wallpapers, premium mattresses, and Egyptian cotton linens. Complimentary minibars and Nespresso machines are standard, and each room overlooks either the interior courtyard or the street. Upgrade to the larger Preferential or Junior Suite options for a private terrace, complete with potted citrus trees, or book ahead to reserve the large two-bedroom apartment for larger groups. Bathrooms feature glossy latte-colored tiling and L'Occitane amenities, and most include bathtub-shower combos and two sinks.

Amenities

The hotel serves a daily breakfast buffet of 100% local products, including fresh-squeezed juices, pastries, and made-to-order omelets. Later in the day, you can duck into Bar 51, a lovely space just off the lobby, for an espresso pick-me-up or a glass of wine and light tapas. Relax in the two tranquil courtyards (one with an emerald-tiled fountain), or head up to the rooftop, where you'll find an inviting al fresco area with rattan seating and potted citrus trees. The hotel is also pet-friendly—furry companions stay for free and are welcomed with beds and bowls.

Family-Friendliness

Children of all ages are welcome at Hotel Gravina 51. Adjoining family rooms are available, and the two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment is a great choice for longer stays. You can also arrange babysitting services for a fee with the hotel, and the breakfast buffet and room service have kid-friendly options.

This was one of our favourite hotels on our Southern Spain trip. We loved the quiet location but within easy walking distance to all the important city sites.
