Contemporary literary-themed boutique hotel with a rooftop pool, historic ambience, and proximity to Seville Cathedral

Overview

Once the home of a Sevillian academic, Joya del Casco Boutique Hotel's 19th-century brick and wrought-iron building sits in the city's Old Town, within easy walking distance of iconic sites like the Seville Cathedral, the Flamenco Museum, and Plaza de España. There's a decidedly literary air to the interiors—including a charming library—and the 15 rooms blend historic ambience with contemporary comforts and playful modern art. Other highlights include a rooftop terrace with a plunge pool and a bilingual staff known for its friendly, attentive service.

Kimkim's Take

Pros
  • The rooftop terrace with a plunge pool and views of the Seville Cathedral is a real highlight.
  • It's located just a short walk from the Seville Cathedral, the Royal Alcázar, and the Museo del Baile Flamenco.
  • The charming 19th-century building retains lovely period features—including a galleried library and wrought-iron balconies.
  • Breakfast is complimentary, with a buffet that includes various options and eggs cooked to order.
  • The staff are consistently praised for their exemplary warmth and service.
Cons
  • There are only two room types, with the only difference being a slight increase in size, so you can't book suites or family rooms here.
  • While there's no on-site parking available, the staff is happy to help guide you to nearby parking options.

Authenticity

Joya del Casco's elegant 19th-century building was once the home of a Sevillian academic, and you'll find nods to that heritage scattered throughout the small boutique hotel, from original tiled fountains and intricate iron balconies to the mezzanine-style library where guests can grab a read for their stay. The interiors offer a cool juxtaposition of contemporary design and period details, especially in the soaring central courtyard, and details like a rooftop terrace (complete with plunge pool) and all-day coffee and cake on offer in the lounge make this an inviting spot to come home to after a day of sightseeing.

Location

An address on the narrow, cobbled Calle Argote de Molina puts deep within the historic center of Old Seville, mere steps from plenty of historic landmarks, neighborhood bars, and authentic restaurants. The Seville Cathedral, the Royal Alcázar, and the Plaza Nueva tram stop are all within a short 5-minute stroll, and a 20-minute walk south takes you to Plaza de España. Public parking is available nearby at Plaza Nueva, and hotel staff can assist with arranging transportation to the airport or train station.

Rooms & Bathrooms

The hotel's 15 air-conditioned rooms are split into two categories: Standard Doubles face the inner atrium (a light-filled space with wrought-iron Juliet balconies under an original glass ceiling) while the slightly larger Superior Doubles overlook the street. No two rooms are identical, due to the historic building, but all are decorated in a minimalist, contemporary style, with pale parquet floors, mid-century-style furniture, and pops of bright colors in the form of yellow textiles and abstract artworks. The modern en suite bathrooms include a walk-in glass shower with a rainfall showerhead and eco-friendly toiletries.

Amenities

The rooftop terrace is a standout feature, where you can lounge under the umbrellas or take a refreshing dip in the plunge pool while enjoying views of the cathedral. The complimentary breakfast is served in a beautiful ground-floor space with checkerboard flooring and a mezzanine-style library reached via a spiral staircase. There's also an inviting lounge area that incorporates period details like original tiles and columns, where complimentary coffee, tea, and cakes are available all day.

Family-Friendliness

Families are welcome at Joya Del Casco, though the limited room options may not suit larger groups. Children under six get a 50% discount, and baby cribs are available for a small fee.
