Pros

• The historic property was once a monastery and an olive oil estate, so you'll sleep in 19th-century buildings and can walk through olive groves. 
• Meals at the on-site restaurant offer a truly idyllic setting, with breakfast under the shade of orange and olive trees and romantic dinners on the terraces. 
• The rooms have antique furniture and historical details like tiled floors and beamed ceilings, and the suites are large with seating areas. 
• You can swim in the outdoor pool, relax in the garden, sit in the lounge, or walk through the cherry orchard next to a pergola. 
• There's also a spa and a cycling center at the property.

Cons

• The location is perfect for enjoying the area's famed views, but returning to the property after exploring the town on foot requires a steep climb. 

Additional Notes From Ash 

The entrance to the hotel is worth the slightly steep trek, as you'll reach the lobby via a grand outdoor stone staircase and stay perched on the hills overlooking the town. The property declares itself an ideal place for "wandering around and losing track of time," and I can vouch for that. You really feel away from it all and can stroll through the gardens and olive groves, discovering hidden spaces and enjoying truly incredible viewpoints.

Authenticity

Opened in 2004, Hotel Valldemossa strives to maintain the property's original, tranquil charm by offering just 12 rooms named after famous locals. Initially, the lodging had two 19th-century Mallorcan stone houses used as the Valldemossa Carthusian Monastery and an olive oil estate, so it's quite a historic property. 

Location

You'll be just five minutes by foot from the center of historic Valldemossa, up a curvy street lined with olive trees and stone walls. Keep in mind that it's on a hill, so the walk into town is a bit easier than the walk back! Valldemossa is a great spot for nature lovers, as multiple hiking trails start in the town, including Camí de s'Arxiduc. If you'd like to enjoy the sea, Caló de s'Estaca and Cala Deia are both a 25-minute drive from the hotel. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

The hotel's owner handpicked all the furnishings and decor in the 12 rooms, so you'll enjoy an authentic stay. All have private outdoor spaces, plus historic details like tiled floors, original stone walls, beamed ceilings, and antique furniture. The suites are huge, with large terraces, old wooden desks, and seating areas with sofas and comfy chairs. Regardless of your room, you'll enjoy amenities like air conditioning, coffeemakers, bathrobes, slippers, a welcome drink, and views of the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. 

Other Highlights

You can relax at the outdoor pool with its terrace and bar or on one of the other terraces, one with incredible views of the town and hills and another shaded by old olive trees. You can reach the pool via a beautiful pergola with a cherry orchard off to the side, and can also use the cycling center and spa. For meals, enjoy Frédéric Restaurant, a fine-dining eatery with an elegant dining room and two outdoor terraces with views. You'll have breakfast under the olive and orange trees and can opt for a candlelit dinner overlooking the hilled village.
