La Torre del Canónigo Hotel, Ibiza
Unique hotel with multiple historic properties, an outdoor pool, a fireplace lounge, and an on-site restaurant
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- If you want to experience Ibiza's history, this is an excellent choice, as it's directly in the city's historic quarter.
- Getting from one building to the next is a pleasant little adventure, connected by the Old Town's twisting streets or a garden area with an outdoor pool and terrace.
- The on-site restaurant has a fine-dining vibe and offers the option to eat outside on the terrace with city and sea views.
- You can book massages at the hotel or relax in the cozy lounge with its antique furniture and fireplace.
- The spacious rooms use different textures and colors to channel Ibiza's history and natural environment.
- Families and small groups can book the units with two bedrooms, one offering a large and private outdoor terrace.
- The basic rooms are very small, and the standard rooms don't have windows (just a portion of the door that you can open, but without glass, leading to a shared space).
Additional Notes From Ash
It's one thing to be in a city's Old Town, and it's another to BE the city's Old Town. This hotel sits across several buildings in the most historic part of Ibiza Town, against the old Roman acropolis, Renaissance walls, and medieval streets. The history, design, decor, and overall ambiance made this property feel more like an experience than a place to stay. You can really understand the city's origins when staying directly in them!Authenticity
A unique property, La Torre del Canónigo fits itself into Ibiza's Old Town, with its buildings connected by cobbled streets and a garden terrace where the pool sits. One part of the hotel is a tower with a mix of Arab and Christian history, another space is a 10th-century home, and an additional area was originally a Jesuit convent in the 16th century, complete with a chapel and cave that housed refugees during the Civil War.Location
Set at the base of the Castle of Ibiza, the hotel is a quick five-minute walk from the top of the fortress and cathedral. Just steps away is a charming staircase leading down to lanes filled with restaurants, bars, and local shops, and getting to the port is a 15-minute stroll through the historic streets. If you'd like to explore the area, the scenic Cala d'Hort is a 40-minute drive, and swimming at Cala Olivera is 20 minutes away.Rooms & Bathrooms
There are just 25 rooms in the house, all offering calm, neutral tones and natural materials, like woven decor, exposed stone walls, and wooden headboards. You'll find a bit of color with rugs, wall decorations from local artists, and tiling on the floors and bathrooms. Upgraded rooms add more space, seating areas, and sea views, and some feature private terraces. Family rooms offer two bedrooms and two bathrooms, and the deluxe family option adds a furnished terrace.Other Highlights
The hotel has an outdoor pool surrounded by a garden with sun loungers, and you can book spa treatments like massages. There's also an indoor fireplace lounge and an on-site restaurant with the option for outdoor dining on a terrace with city and sea views.Like what you see?
