Parque del Lago Boutique Hotel, San José

Very good place to be for the first and last night. A walk around the area was OK - the other end of Sabina Park would probably be better as behind this hotel were a lot of garages and opposite a very deserted building with broken glass etc.. The hotel itself lovely, good breakfast just situation could perhaps be better. BUT as we were hardly in San Jose we did not have the chance to get a good feel for the area really.

I like the local, unique feel of this hotel. The room was basic but nice and clean. The typical Costa Rica breakfast was decent. The surrounding streets in the area were a bit rough and it is near a busy/loud road, though we didn't hear it at night and they have locking gates/fence all around so we felt safe. We had a view of the town and mountainous backdrop from our room. There was a causal and tasty restaurant within walking distance, also a bank to exchange local currnecy

Nice, basic, clean hotel. Easy to access from the airport. 10 minute cab ride to downtown area. Decent breakfast included. Dinner... not the worst, but not great either.

Cute little hotel for an overnight stay. Didn't get the opportunity to explore the area, so unable to report anything outside of rooms, receptions, and restaurant. Rooms were a little small for the amount of furniture in the room, but not a significant negative, just an opinion. Dinner in the restaurant was REALLY GOOD!!

More of a hotel for business travelers. Didn’t have a swimming pool. But close to a nice park. If you’re going to spend time in San Jose, you may want to be closer to the town center where the museums are located. But the hotel was well maintained, comfortable beds, nice staff, and good breakfast buffet.

Room was nice enough and we enjoyed the hotel breakfast and dining room later for happy hour. Centrally located, but not a great area right around it.

Clean rooms but very stuffy

Though we stayed just one night, this was a lovely little hotel in central San Jose. If we ever return to SJ to explore the capital further, I would certainly stay here. The staff are very friendly and welcoming.

More of a small business hotel feel than a tourist hotel. I think if I did it again I might be in a more upscale neighborhood (if an option). Really more of a location issue over the actual hotel. Great staff & great breakfast.

Seemed understaffed. Staff had trouble keeping the breakfast bar stocked. If you needed tea - good luck getting hot water. Not enough seating. Just unimpressive. No pool.
We took a bus tour of the city - younger people could certainly just walk to attractions
