Authenticity

Sibū Lodge is centrally located in the small town of Santa Elena and is a recently renovated establishment that was formerly known as the Rustic Lodge. The renovation, completed in 2022, has transformed the rustic, wooden environment into a more spacious, well-lit lodge, reflecting the natural beauty and tranquility of the Monteverde region. While the lodge doesn't have a long history, the renovation has brought a modern touch to the property.

Location

Nestled in Monteverde, Sibū Lodge offers a peaceful retreat from the bustle of city life. Despite its tranquil setting, the lodge is conveniently located near various local amenities, including restaurants and shops. For those looking to explore, the lodge is near popular attractions such as Selvatura Adventure Park and the renowned Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

At Sibū Lodge, you'll find several room categories designed to accommodate different group sizes, ranging from single travelers to families. Following the recent renovation, the rooms are equipped with modern amenities and features. The design is simple yet comfortable, offering a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The spacious bathrooms feature updated fixtures, including waterfall showers, and the lodge is in the process of adding air-conditioning to specific room categories for added comfort.

Wildlife

The central location in town means you're not going to be spotting many animals on the ground level, but turn your eyes upward, as previous travelers have spotted plenty of colorful butterflies, hummingbirds, and other exotic birds in the canopy above the hotel. 

Amenities

With the recent renovations, Sibū Lodge is currently lacking in amenities, though there are plans to slowly add more features over the next few years, including a pool. In the meantime, travelers at Sibū Lodge have access to the amenities at the nearby sister property (Poco a Poco's), including Naroa Spa, a heated pool and Jacuzzi, a fire pit, and a self-guided nature trail. On the plus side, the renovations have made the hotel more accessible than what you'll usually find in this area of Costa Rica, with wheelchair-accessible rooms and walk-in showers for guests with limited mobility. 

Family-Friendliness

Children of all ages are welcome at the hotel, and kids under the age of five stay for free. The hotel's current barebone amenities make this a solid option for families who want to take advantage of the many activities around Santa Elena and the Monteverde cloud forest. If you're looking for more of a resort-style stay with many on-site activities, you may want to look for other lodging options. 

Other Highlights

Aside from the comfortable rooms, Sibū Lodge offers a few other highlights to enhance your stay. Breakfast is included with your stay and served at the hotel's restaurant,  Bitzū Restaurant & Bar, which also serves lunch and dinner, along with beer, wine, and custom cocktails.
