Andrea Morita

Hello, I’m Andrea.

I’m proud to be part of the extraordinary team at ‘The Colombian Trip.’ My academic journey led me through 2 distinct fields—International Relations and Accounting. While they seem worlds apart, this unique combination has proven perfect for business development in travel.

At first, I struggled to see how my studies could fully stimulate me. But the world of tourism opened a path. Now, my mission is twofold: crafting unforgettable experiences for travelers like you and positively impacting the lives of Colombians.

Born and raised in Bogotá, our pulsating capital, my love for this land began early, sparked by Gabriel García Márquez's ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude.’ As an 8-year-old, the story utterly captivated me, rushing through meals to return to its pages. That book deeply connected me to the enchanting places, stories, and landscapes.

Here’s something only my friends know about me——my deep passions are books and football (soccer). Books take me on journeys through stories and history, while football fuels my wanderlust as I travel the world to support my beloved country team.

I look forward to helping you discover the Colombia I adore.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"I specialize in nature-focused travel, eco-lodges, boutique hotels, glamping, birding, and cultural and luxury experiences across Colombia."

How did you get involved in travel?

"My passion for travel stems from a deep love for my home country. Growing up in Bogotá, surrounded by the magical Andes, I was nicknamed ‘Colombianita’—the little Colombian girl—because of my enthusiasm for the beauty and richness of this land.

Over the years, I’ve explored the far corners of Colombia, crossing off items from my personal bucket list and falling even more in love with our diverse landscapes and cultures.

My goal is to craft vibrant, immersive experiences that reveal the heart of Colombia. Imagine learning to cook traditional dishes with a local chef, exploring ancient villages guided by an archeologist, or walking the same paths as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, the Nobel Prize-winning author who captured Colombia’s essence in his words.

Let me share this magic with you, through the eyes of a local.
"

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"One of my favorite places in the world is Flores, Indonesia.

This small town instantly made me feel at home— everybody gets excited about having a conversation with you; everybody takes care of you and helps you with every detail. The kindness and love in the air were palpable, creating a genuine connection that stays with me.

And the landscapes? Absolutely breathtaking. The vivid views and magical scenery still feel like something out of a dream."

Hiking in the Cócora Valley up to "The Hummingbird House" & Explore Salento

First the hike itself was beautiful and I enjoyed the activity and reaching the hummingbird house. I would highly recommend this as an activity. The reason it is a low rating was due to the guide. It became very clear early on that our guide was not just leading us but working a second job during his time with us. He told us how he is opening up his own company and kept stopping to film for this new venture. This caused us to take significantly longer and was frustrating at times. Overall we love this as an activity but encourage the use of a different guide in the future.

The local guides were informed of the delays . All local guides were very professional, arrived on time or early, spoke good English, were very knowledgeable and took good care of us. Most of the accommodations were good. One jungle lodge was very remote, difficult to reach, had no hot water so we would have preferred only one night there. Another hotel, in Santa Marta, was very nice but we arrived late and left early so didn't have time to enjoy the facilities. Plus the hotel was near the main square and music blared until the early hours of the morning. The hikes were quite challenging but we were fit enough, though tired.

Casa La Fe

Great location in the old town and on a square with restaurants nearby. The staff members were all very helpful. The breakfast options were wonderful. We enjoyed the courtyard. The room was small but perfectly adequate. The area was quiet. There was a nice pool upstairs. The Wifi worked well.

Miraflores Boutique Hotel

The hotel is on the west side of the island and doesn't have a beach. It is about 15 minutes by taxi into the town. We had a lovely room above the reception with a big balcony. The room was spacious with a narrow but nice bathroom. Breakfast was good and they have a restaurant (limited choices) for dinner. There are some local restaurants in walking distance with better food choices. The grounds are big and there's a pool but we didn't use it as the weather was wet. The only downside was the constant traffic noise as we were in Room 2 close to the road.

Gorgeous setting in the jungle with birds, rescued animals and great views. The room was basic with a concrete floor and thatched roof, a small bathroom and a balcony. There was no hot water in the shower but the Wifi was strong. There is an outdoor open eating area with restaurant. Getting to the lodge is an adventure in itself. First a winding mountain road from Santa Marta to Minca, a small village. Then another 40 minutes on some of the worst roads I've ever seen (and I travel a lot). The remote setting was lovely but it would not be a place to have a medical emergency as it's so far from help. We had two nights here, one would have been enough.

Ecohabs Tequendama Parque Tayrona

The location is right out of a travel magazine. We stayed one night in Room 4 perched high on the hill with a view to the ocean. However, there were a lot of inconveniences. First, it was a long walk from the reception to the restaurant, then 106 steps up to the room. Luckily we were fairly fit but it would have been strenuous for people older than us. Secondly, the bedroom was upstairs in the cabin. The lighting in the room was poor and I needed to use a flashlight to get things out of my suitcase. To use the bathroom, you have to go outside and downstairs (avoiding any rain). Not ideal for an older couple who need to go to the bathroom at night. Bring a flashlight. There was a coffee maker tucked away in a dark corner next to the bathroom, but no complimentary coffee, only sugar was provided. There were good breakfast choices in the impressive restaurant but service was slow and we waited about 40 minutes to get our breakfast while other guests who arrived after us got their food, ate and left. It was definitely an experience to stay in such a gorgeous place but it is better suited to younger people.

Fabulous hotel in the old city. The staff were very helpful. The hotel has three courtyards with rooms around them. Our room was comfortable with a nice bathroom. The location was quiet. It's very close to the main square and I felt very safe walking around the square early the next morning. It was also a quick walk to several museums. The hotel has a restaurant on the fourth floor with good food for dinner Breakfast is served in the courtyard and was an amazing buffet, the best breakfast of our trip. I had an omelet made to order. I wish we had more time here as the hotel was so nice.

Snorkeling in the San Andrés Coral Reef

I wanted to go to San Andres for the snorkeling. I've been lucky to have snorkeled all over the world. The guide, Miguel, was very nice and safety conscious. But the snorkeling itself was disappointing. There was some hard coral but no soft coral nor much color. There were some fish but not what I was hoping for. Also, it had rained the day before so visibility was low and the ocean was rough so we got bounced around a lot of the time. Perhaps a different location or day would have been a different experience.

My husband and I spent 8 days traveling in Colombia in August. This was our first time using a travel agency or service such as kimkim, and we are so grateful that we did! From the very beginning, our specialist Andrea developed an exciting itinerary that fulfilled our travel wishes; when I asked if she could lower the overall cost, she was able to make adjustments without sacrificing too much of the fun and comfort.

All of our local guides in each city (Andrea in Bogotá, Juan and Ivan in Pereira, and Aura in Cartagena) were all spectacular! It was so special to have guides who were both passionate about their regions and excited to share it with others through tourism. We learned so much from our conversations with each guide (all of whom spoke exceptional English)!

Some other general comments include that most of the trip was already paid for once we arrived in Colombia, that we really didn't have to worry about having cash on us - from activities to transportation! Additionally, our specialist Andrea was extremely responsive through WhatsApp and answered any questions we had very promptly and thoroughly.

Colombia is a beautiful country, the people that we encountered were so warm and friendly, and the food is just delicious! 12/10.

Casa San Carlos Lodge
Pereira

Casa San Carlos is absolutely stunning and we are so happy we were able to stay here during our visit; we even had a free day that we were able to spend by the pool. I did, however, want to share some feedback surrounding the food and hospitality: things were a bit disorganized. Staff seemed eager to please but, as culminating example, when we were checking out and settling the bills for meals (which we had charged to the room each evening) all but one or two items were incorrect. The front desk worked with us to go through and correctly itemize, but it felt very messy and I ultimately feel like we payed less than we ought to (could have easily been the opposite problem, as well).
