Tamer B. Obeid

A traveler myself since 1997, blessed to have had unforgettable experiences in different parts of this world that haven’t ceased to amaze me! Originally from the middle east, I have lived in the UAE, Qatar, Malaysia, Turkey, and Ecuador, amongst other countries. Landed in Latin America almost 7 years ago, and it didn’t take long to start getting dazzled by the pristine and incredibly diverse array of wonders, the intriguing culture, and the warmth of the people in this part of the world!

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"We specialize in making your dream journey come true. Allow us some of your time and we will tailor-make a trip of a lifetime for you!
From the north of Chile, close to the Argentine and Bolivian borders, to the volcanic Easter Island; one of the most remote inhabited places on Earth, all the way to Patagonia, we promise you exceptional experiences."

How did you get involved in travel?

"I was lucky enough to be able to start traveling at a very early age. For different reasons related to my initial career, I found myself moving from one country to another, admiring their various cultures and the unique experiences each generously offered. At one point, I was granted the invaluable chance of joining a magnificent team and becoming a travel specialist where I can combine two of my top passions; travel and customer service that is. Since then, I hold dear every chance I have to draw a smile on my travelers’ faces, share knowledge with them and help them have memorable times."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"As each travel experience I had throughout the years possesses a certain spot in my heart and memories, it is not easy to favor one over the other. Each welcoming face I met, scenery I gazed at and adventure I sighed after has its own distinguished contribution. Whether visiting an indigenous community in the Ecuadorian Amazon and learning about their customs, or whitewater rafting in Jatunyacu river, all are experiences I aspire to share with our passionate travelers."

The communication during the trip planning process was very good, and we appreciated the attention to detail at that stage. However, we were particularly dissatisfied with the constant schedule changes and delays during the trip, especially since we had emphasized that the trip included an elderly person, making punctuality crucial. Additionally, due to discrepancies between the final schedule and the original itinerary, some days became overly exhausting and lacked adequate rest.
Overall, given our experience, we found the trip to be expensive for what was delivered.

After a few changes, we had a great 10 day trip planned. Everything was set up for us, including transportation, activities, and lodging. Riwal was in constant contact while we were there, which gave us a sense of security if something went wrong. Jose was our guide in at the beginning of our trip and he was the absolute best! We visited wineries, went on a city tour, food tour, and were treated to a very nice picnic with a beautiful view of the city and the mountains. After that we stayed at Cascada de Animas and really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the Andes. The resort is beautiful and offers so many great activities. Fanny was a great guide on the waterfall hike. Horseback riding was also an amazing experience. After that we traveled to the coast and stayed in Vina Del Mar. The ocean is beautiful and we got to experience the culture during city and food tours of both Vina Del Mar and Valparaiso. Cris and Grex guided us through the cities, and we learned so much about the history of the port cities. Overall, Chile is a warm, welcoming, beautiful country with amazing food and wine. Kimkim did a great job putting this trip together and making it so simple. I highly recommend!

The team added and subtracted from our itinerary until the details were 100%. We were able to enjoy time in the city (Santiago), the desert (San Pedro de Atacama) and the coast (Valparaiso and Vina del Mar) which each offered their own unique aspects of this amazing country. The transportation was always reliable and comfortable for our group of 7. Our excursions provided the right balance of adventure and culture without ever having concern for our safety. Accommodations were purposefully selected to match our desired comfort level, proximity to attractions and price point. The team made sure to add all the extra special touches we needed on this trip including Vegetarian meals and making my daughter's birthday celebration memorable. This trip was not for her birthday but rather her birthday was celebrated while we were there. The day of her birthday was planned with activities that kept her in mind and the team even gave her a sweet gift. Pro-tip: ask to visit wineries that also have animals. It's a win-win for the adults and the children. The Kimkim team members were professional, kind, sincere, accommodating and made us feel like we were part of "the family". We would love to return to Chile and if we do, we will 100% ask for this team to help us again. We're also planning to use Kimkim as we plan trips to other areas as well.

In our experience, the best part of sunsets can come several minutes after the sun drops as it lights up the sky. We didn't get to see that on this trip. If we return, we'll just plan to do the sunset on our own so we can stay and enjoy for as long as we'd like. We do understand that the tours need to promptly return to town to prepare for their Stargazing Tours which begin after sunset.

I had a fantastic time in Chile and was given huge amounts of reassurance from having local people who I could access via Whatsapp throughout my trip. As a woman travelling on my own in South America I felt safe and organised. There were a couple of hiccups but these were resolved quickly by the team who were prompt in their responses and professional. I generally organise my own trips but I didn't have time on this occasion and I was pleasantly surprised by what I could fit in by handing the responsibility over to someone else!

I have nothing but FANTSTIC things to say about KimKim, Responsible Travel, and the entire team that helped us plan and bring to life an amazing trip to Chile. The KimKim platform is excellent for communicating and planning travel; Both Tamir and Cami were super responsive during the planning process, filled with suggestions and advice about what to see and do during our time in Chile. Once we arrived in Santiago, we were met by our extraordinary guide, Angel, our on-the-ground local expert resource and friend. Angel was incredibly welcoming, knowledgable, flexible and creative in his approach to sharing his country and culture with us. He was very responsive to our needs, and totally game for unusual requests (like a mid-winter swim in the ocean!). We had four weeks of travel in Chile, and things went very, very smoothly; KimKim dealt with all the bookings (lodging, transport, tours), and Angel and the KimKim team were always there for us to answer questions or provide us with additional information. Santiago was the base out of which we traveled, so we were able to connect with Angel throughout our time in Chile. Angel is, quite simply, a fantastic guide, and he’s now a good friend. We look forward to returning to Chile and reconnecting with him!

Many thanks to the KimKim team for all their help in making our Chile adventure so epic!

The Valley of the Moon tour was excellent as it gave a totally different perspective to the concept of desert.
I cannot thank the Kim Kim travel staff who helped change the itinerary after my husband got ill - combination of cold and high elevation. They were there for me to help get him to a lower elevation which is what we needed to do.
The only negative was the hotel in Santiago - it met the needs of sleeping but it was really very basic.

We needed a map or more information to figure out what was close by. We did walk around but we really need some guidance about getting to the downtown core. None was forthcoming. Same for questions of where to eat - no recommendations were given.

If you have snorkeled anywhere in the South Pacific or in the Galapagos this is really a waste of time. There are few fish - I maybe saw a total of 100 - and the variety is poor. I did it to say I had snorkeled at Easter Island but it was not very good. I was the only one in the group so had the leader to myself.

The driver threw that bus around corners at great speed. If you had car issues it might have been a problem. The guide said ask any questions and he would answer them but he was up front and not listening and one could not jump up and ask questions due the way the bus was being driven. In addition, he spent more time on his phone than paying attention to his clients. You had to wait until the bus stopped to engage with him. I saw Rhias but could not get his attention and he kept saying we will see more. I did see more but no one else did because you could not get his attention. Lunch at 4pm is not lunch time.

This was all made possible when we contacted Tamer who was instrumental in making this happen. Tamer was very patient with us during the planning. He gave us a few tour packages to choose from and he was very responsive. He basically answered all our questions in the quickest time possible.
Angel, who was our first contact during our Santiago stay was awesome !!! He is very professional and yet very personable. He treated us like we were family during our stay. Angel and his entire team were always reaching out to us and asking how we are doing. Very responsive, very punctual and just very comforting to know that he has our back. I like the fact that they reach out to us and gives us updates on our daily itinerary.
Our tour in San Pedro de Atacama and Patagonia were just outstanding.
We've been to quite a few countries and always had no trouble with our tour packages but in Chile- they seem to go above and beyond.
After all our tours-our guides always have a spread of food and drinks which is really something that you can look forward to.
Chilean people are very nice and welcoming.. We've never encountered any person who hasn't smiled or helped us out in every way possible.
So many places to go and explore but we don't mind coming back to Chile. There's so much this country has to offer that we have barely scratched the surface.

The location itself was great. The bellboy to the front desk employees were really attentive. What it lacks is an update to their rooms. Seems very dated. The bathroom needs to be fixed. It is functioning but it just doesn't look inviting at all. It needs caulking. Food was okay. Nothing fancy.

I like this place. It's maybe a good 10 minute walk from the city center but i like the peace and quiet that it provides. Room and bathroom is clean. It's not a high end lodge but i like the fact that they upcycle materials to use. The restaurant is clean and inviting. Food is okay. it's just a typical free breakfast. But i'll pick to stay here again if ever we'll be back in Chile.

We absolutely love this hotel !!! This has a lot of character. We love the quirkiness of this hotel. Every detail was thought of. The room has awesome. Clean and inviting. Too bad we only stayed here overnight. The restaurant was awesome. This hotel is an example of having a clean, inviting and comfortable without being expensive. They made use of what's native to the area and re-used vintage treasure finds to keep this place authentic. It is a small hotel since this used to be a house that's almost a century old but i just like the vibe. The only downside is the fact that there is no elevator which makes carrying your luggage harder not only for us guests but also for the staff that carries them.
