This was our ( party of 4) first trip with kimkim.
First of all I have to say Portugal is a beautiful country to visit, I would not hesitate to return.
I was a bit apprehensive at first using an online travel site that I had never nor my friends ever heard of, Kimkim,
My fears were quickly allayed . I was contacted by Joao of , Across Portugal (travel agency) and together our travel itinerary was created. Big Kudos to Joao ! He was great! Always( pre, during and post trip ) responsive , helpful and knowledgeable .Kind of like the go to guy during the entire trip. Actually big kudos to the entire kimkim team which was responsible for making our Portugal visit just perfect.
If you want to visit Portugal and see all the sites without the work, headaches and stress , if you like feeling like a VIP , if you like staying in wonderful hotels centrally located, if you like private on time drivers then without hesitation Kimkim is the best!
I'm excited to learn what other countries I may visit using Kimkim!

We were very impressed with KimKim service. The team's response was quick and answered our questions right away. Upon are arrival, with dinner reservation at Fada, which we truly enjoyed ,even with out much sleep. Our first city was Lisbon, and our guide Filipa was great she took us around the city, even though we had jet lag she kept our attention. Next day was a trip to Sintra, with our guide Paulo. That day it was pouring rain and windy, but we made the best of it. We felt very safe with Paulo, as he made the day very personal, by stopping at his wife cafe, called Bristol, for coffee and local pastry. After we visited the Pena Palace we drove towards Sintra Cascias Natural Park for some dramatic views of the coastal Cliffs, of Cabo de Roca. Then off to Cascias fishing town, and on the way we stopped again at this small place, where he knew the owner/chef and ordered some local food for us to taste. Paulo made that day very special to us. Next, we had a driver take us to Porto where we stayed Pestana Vintage Porto Hotel. It was in a great location next to the Douro River, in the historic section, with an outstanding breakfast. The following day it was very stormy, but Celia, our tour guide, was ready to go and so were we. She took us all around the historic section of UNESCO World Heritage to admire the Romanesque, Gothic, Neo classic monuments and Baroque to mention a few. The Lello bookshop was worth visiting, but tickets should be purchased ahead of time, to avoid the lines. After being soaked to the bones, we had a reservation for a wine tasting that evening and got to try different port, which we enjoyed. Next Day we headed off to wine tasting, in the Douro Valley to a privately owned winery. It was very relaxing sitting talking, with the owner, of the vineyard , tasting the Porto and pairing it with food, which was cooked on site. The following day we then flew to Sevilla, and had tickets for a Flamenco show that evening. We did have a little trouble finding the correct venue, as we didn't realize that there were more than one place to go,. However, we found it and glad we got to see the performance. Next day, Andres took us on a walking tour around the Sevilla Cathedral a 15th century Roman Catholic Church the home to the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Then we walked to the orange tree filled Santa Cruz neighborhood known, as the Jewish quarters with its narrow streets. We visited the Alcazar a monument included in the UNESCO World Heritage site. Following day we took a day trip to Cordoba and meet up with Isabel, for a walking tour, she was great. She took us to the breath taken Mezquita ( Mosque Cathedral of Cordoba) a pagan temple that was converted into a green mosque of the Ummayad caliphate, which later was converted into a Catholic Church. It was well worth the train ride, as it was magnificant to see. Again, walked around winding streets of the Jewish Quarters. In the historic neighborhood of the Cordoba Synagogue. Off again, onto the train, to our final destination Barcelona. Once there, we were on own, as everything was within walking distance. First, we went to Guell Park and is well worth visiting. We debated about buying tickets, for Casa Batillo, but at last minute we did and we were very glad, it was a very different experience and enjoyed every minute of it. Finally our last day of our trip, we had tickets ahead of time, for the Sagrada Familia. We spent most of the day there as it was amazing, something worth seeing. Our last hotel was in a great location, very good breakfast, but was bare bones, not like all the other hotels. However, we really enjoyed our trip and appreciate all the help Marina, Marta and the KimKim team provided. I would use KimKim again for my next trip. Sharon

Not any fault of the driver, but the car company picked someone that has never been to Coimbra. He had no idea where to go. He did call back to his colllegaue to get some info, so he dropped us off at the University. Communication was a little troubling, but we managed. He dropped us off and we asked that he wait for us, as we just wanted to look around maybe take a few pictures and we would be right back. However, we could't find him anywhere, so had to make a few calls. We never got to see anything in Coimbra, so disappointing. I do not blame the driver as he was doing his job of driving us.

The entire trip was perfect from
Start to finish. Our travel agent Caterina was so responsive and really put together a fantastic tour for us. Each of our guides were outstanding- so much knowledge shared with us. The drivers also were superb - we felt very safe traveling both the highways and the narrow streets of Portugal. Our guides Barbara Anjus in Coimbra and Mario Miguel in Lisbon were highlights of our trip along with the Douro Valley and the towns of Braga and Nazare.

Rita made our last-minute trip planning very easy and I'm so grateful for her help! We had to cancel a trip to Morroco and decided on Portugal with very little time to plan. This is what she planned for us:

Porto food tour- fabulous guide Gabriel and great food- 100% enjoyed.

Douro Valley winery visit and river cruise. Overall a lovely experience but I think they were some issues with our guide. He was friendly and on-time but I think a bit confused about where and when we were supposed to be. He was actually a driver and not a guide. Communication was difficult. We were supposed to do a winery tour and then a river cruise but he went to the cruise first and arrived early and we had to wait an hour. Then we went to the winery, but we were late and missed the tour and the beginning of lunch. The winery (host, food, wine) was lovely and very enjoyable but I wish we would have had the whole experience.

Private day excursion to Braga & Guimaraes. Wonderful experience. Marlene was so kind and informative. She made sure we had a lovely day with great sites and great food.

Private morning tour of historic Coimbra- Bruno was fabulous. We enjoyed the education and the company.

Private bike tour of the Rio Formosa. Everything on this trip was so good but this was actually the low point. The first disappointment was that this tour began an hour-drive away from where we were staying- and I didn't realize that until maybe the day before. I wish Rita would have pointed this out and asked if that was an acceptable amount of travel (we had been doing a lot of driving). In planning, I was unsure that this was an activity that we would enjoy but Rita assured me that the area was beautiful and should not be missed, so I went with her advice. And again, our guide was very frienddly and warm and I think trying to do his best. What we did though was a very slow, three-hour bike ride through a marsh (kind of stinky and not scenic) with a guide who seemed to not know much about the area. He really was trying to be informative about the wild life but he had picked up a park brochure and would stop the ride to tell us the names of various birds we should look for- but nothing more. He didn't seem to know where the birds should be or really anything about them. And we rode soooo slow that I really think it was an effort to make the tour last three hours. It was uncomfortable.

Private walking tour of Lisbon. Hugo was AMAZING. So knowlegable and friendly. We saw so much with him that we would have otherwise missed.

Day excursion to Sintra, Cascais, and Estoril. So this is hard to evaluate because it was a super rainy day and I think that impacted what we did. Rui was lovely- informative and friendly and he really made the best of things. We only had entrance tickets to one palace- and that was on us because we booked so late. I think a lot of the tramping about that we would have otherwise done was just not possible on a day when it was raining buckets. Nice lunch and beautiful drive.

Rita also arranged airport transfers and a rental car- we booked our own accomodations. She was very responsive throuout the entire holiday via the trip plan s app.

We saw so much of the country and it was really a great trip. We flew into Porto for 4 nights, Coimbra for 2 nights, Nazare for 1 night, Evora for 1 night, Salema for 3 nights and then Lisbon for 4 nights. In hindsight, I would had skipped either Nazare or Evora and extended the one chose for 2 nights minimum. I would have skipped Evora I guess because the primary sight that I wanted to see there (Almendres Cromlech) was closed for renovations- which I didn't know until we arrived. It was a great town though- so maybe I would have just done two nights in each place? Hard to choose. It was a lot of driving for just a one-night stay in each.

Rita put the trip together quickly and was very patient with us when we made changes during our time in Portugal. We were exhausted and had to eliminate some of the activities.

Our trip was perfect great tour in Lisbon, fun boat tour and Fado experience. The hotels lined up for us were perfect. Great locations, quiet, clean and friendly people. Joao did an excellent job communicating with me before during and after the trip. He asnwered questions right away which was reassuring. I would use Kim Kim again in a heartbeat.

The hotel in Porto was great! It was in a good location which was convenient for exploring. The only downside was the parking situation. The hotel wasn't on a street where you could drive, so we had to park a couple of blocks away. It was a bit of a hassle to find parking, but not a deal-breaker. The hotel itself was comfortable and met our needs!

Sunset Cruise in the Tagus River

The sunset cruise was a delightful experience. We were on a sailboat with a small group, which made it feel intimate and enjoyable. The weather was beautiful that day, which enhanced the experience. However, I wonder if it would have been as enjoyable if the weather was not as pleasant. Regardless, it was a fun and unique activity that I would recommend.

I can say nothing but raves about our trip to Portugal . Pedro did a great job planning our trip and he keep in touch with us daily. All our guides and drivers could not have been better , friendly and informative. The hotels were great and were what we ask for, local and no big chains. I would definitely use kimkim again!

This was our last stop on our trip to Portugal. Great location, historic exterior but the service certainly wasn’t a 5 star experience. It was far from it. When we first checked into our room it was in the basement with a very musty/mold smell. We left to go to dinner and came back to multiple cockroaches in our room. We went to the reception with all of our luggage. We know they can’t control where bugs are, but they can control their reaction. They seems unsurprised, unapologetic and zero care. They made a few calls, just changed our key, and told our room and as they handed us the new room number a quick “sorry” was said. The only person who seems to care the bellhop Antonio that took us to our new room. It was a very odd response from the front desk and an unprofessional experience. Certainly not how I wanted to end our trip and certainly should not have been charged for a room with bugs!

Their overall customer service was terrible when we told them Saturday evening that there were cockroaches in our room. They should have shown care and empathy. The only reason we were put in a better room was because of Marisa from Kim Kim. They didn't seem to care whatsoever.

Our driver was the best. He was so nice, knowledgeable, made sure we were comfortable the whole time. He gave recommendations, was prompt, and it truly was one of the best days we had in Portugal. The only thing we'd change is seeing a different palace. There are multiple palaces and although Pena was beautiful, the amount of people inside the palace was overwhelming. It felt pretty claustrophobic.

We had been given information from friends as to where to go, what to see , where to eat, and where to travel around Portugal.
We were not prepared to put this all together. I found KimKim on the internet, and noticed the rave reviews.
We were looking for someone special to go for our 40th Anniversary. Portugal was the place!!
Beatriz from DAY 1 has been exceptional. She worked with our requests and then made suggestions of her own.
The Travel App we used was amazing. Details of drivers, pickups, hotel locations, restaurant reservations, other places to see, helped us daily. Plus, when we had a question or concern, Beatiz answered our messages (in the App) all the time.
We started in Lisbon with the Food Tasting tour Taste of Lisbon with Sofia who was excellent, and her suggestions as to where to walk around after were perfect. Our tour to Sintra, Cascais and Estoril with Paulo was great day. He was informative, helpful, super friendly. Once our time in Lisbon was done, we rented a car in Lisbon and drove to the Algarve. Beatriz arranged tours of Cork farms, Olive oil estate, Winery's, with lunches in many places. Each was better than the rest. We walked the cliffs and enjoyed some beach time. Had some amazing meals in the Algarve. Evora was a great 2 day stay. The Hotel was superb. Porto was Spectacular for 3 days. Spectacular hotel with best views imaginable. Our Vintage Car Tour and walking tour of Porto with Sandra was very well done. With a one day visit to Douro Valley with our guide Rui, it showed us it was not enough time to spend there. 2 or 3 days in the valley would have been nice. Our driver/tour back to Lisbon was with Nelson, he showed us Nazare, and Obidos. Lisbon is a great walking town. Amazing choice of restaurants.

The rooms are spectacular, the hotel is beautiful inside, the daily breakfast was excellent, and was gorgeous when it was not too cool to sit outside We ate dinner on the terrace at Dicks Bar Lounge one night. The food was great, the views were spectacular

The walking tours with Filipa and Celia were informative and fun. They both helped us see the numerous areas through a local and historical eyes. The day trip to Sintra etc.. with Nuno was wonderful. His personality made the trip very enjoyable. His knowledge of the area made each stop fascinating. The day trip with Paulo was again phenomenal. His personality and knowledge made the day so much fun. The trip with Rui to the Douro valley also was lovely. These driver/ tour guides have such a beautiful personality that makes the drives fly by and we learned so much about the history and importance of each place we visited.
The stop at the winery in Douro, WOW. Rafael brought the vineyard to life. His love of the vineyard and what he does was seen throughout the day. The food and wine was delicious and amazing, but again it was such a lovely experience due to Raphael,
As far as Marina, she was extremely professional. When there was a hiccup , the group made sure it was rectified quickly. The app was a wonderful way to communicate in a quick manner.

Pedro and the Across Portugal team did an incredible job helping us plan our first trip to Portugal. We were able to do and see more than we ever would have if we had planned everything ourselves. Even when we had an unfortunate snag during a day trip, Pedro and his team were readily available and stepped up to remedy the situation as quickly as they could. We're already talking about wanting to go back and will definitely be recommending Pedro, Across Portugal, and KimKim to our friends and family!

Lisbon Walking Tour + Delicious Portuguese Flavours

Our tour guide, Pedro, was absolutely amazing. It felt like he was able to adapt our tour based on our conversations and what we found interesting as we strolled around Lisbon. We even had time to sample our first pastel de nata, which ended up being the best one we had the whole trip. The Lisbon Winery was also excellent and highly recommend to any Lisbon visitor!

We had very little idea what to expect from our trip, but everything was seamless and smooth! Marissa and the across Portugal team were available to answer all of our questions (no matter how mundane) and the guides they found us were amazing!

All our guides were amazing that we had for our excursions and the customer service we received before and during our trip was exceptional. We will definitely be using them again for future trips

Pedro from Across Portugal was amazing! This is the first time I tried KimKim, and I was not sure what to expect. Immediately I was connected with Pedro, and he went through 5 rounds of itinerary planning, as he patiently continued to come up with options to suit our interests, travel style and budget - he did so much work before we ever made a commitment or put down any money!
A few weeks before our trip, he provided tons of details about every aspect of our trip (even driving tips for when we rented a car). A couple days before we left, he set up a What’s App group so my husband and I could keep in touch with him and his team.
Every single day of our trip, he checked in with us to give details about the next day, and was so personable and delightful- checking in to make sure everything went well and that we were satisfied with our guides, etc.
When we got confused about where to return our car, I messaged him, and within seconds he and his colleague Joao responded with instructions and even a picture of the ramp with an arrow. Amazing!
The best day was the trip to Douro Valley. He set us up with a boat ride, a wine tasting, vineyard tour and lunch. We had no idea what a treat it would be! It was a private boat tour! A gourmet 3 course lunch with wine pairings, and a private tour with tastings - we felt like royalty! We spent half the time toasting Pedro for arranging such an amazing day!
Our tour guides in Lisbon (Margarita) and Porto (Andre) were excellent. They each tailored our tour based on what we were interested in, which was impressive. Our drivers were all like tour guides too, going out of their way to make special stops and explaining locations and culture.
Pedro always signed his notes with “your friend in Portugal” and he really was! I cannot recommend him enough!

This was the highlight of the trip. I was pleasantly surprised to find out we had a private boat ride to ourselves. The winery visit and lunch were beyond spectacular. The lunch was a five-star gourmet meal with wine pairings, set on a balcony overlooking the vineyard. The service was top-notch and it was all included.

The visit to Portugal was nothing short of incredible. Our trip was a “mama-moon” following my wife’s daughter’s wedding. With all the planning for the wedding, it was both a relief and added value to have Joao help in the planning of our 2-week getaway. His attention to several changes and timely feedback was very much appreciated.
During our visit, we had the luxury of personal drivers and tour guides, making the visit both relaxing and a personal touch… adding great relational interaction for the sightseeing trip. Jose, our driver, was both professional and a wealth of knowledge about both Portugal’s history and current events. Equally, our tour through Lisboa by Margarida was fun, entertaining, and a joyful part of our trip.
Although a bit challenging, renting a car to drive through the Douro Valley and then onto Madrid over the mountains was a real highlight of the trip.
Each stop planned by Joao was well thought out and added to the overall experience. Especially loved our side trip to Seville as we drove back into Portugal after 4 nights in Spain.
As has been shared in previous reviews, traveling with KimKim is a more expensive than other travel services, however the service provided was outstanding and a testimony to both Joan’s assembled team and their pride in showing the best of Portugal.

Margarida is extremely entertaining, well spoken and a wealth of historical significance. A talent and “old soul”… her influence makes us want to come back to Lisboa and Portugal.

From the time we were picked up at the airport in Lisbon to our departure all the plans made by Karenina were impeccable. The hotel in Lisbon was a little jewel in an excellent location.
The tours planned were excellent and we learned so much.
KimKim lets you choose tours by your interests, and the tour guides are prompt and informative. We had enough time in the Algarve to relax and enjoy the hotel facilities in between tours.

Guides Rui Queiroz of RPQ and Gonsailo or Eco Tuk Tours were exceptional! Just the right amount of information so we could digest what we heard and saw. Douro boat ride and trip to the winery was incredible! Sandra from Simplyb was so knowledgeable and fun. Felt a little overwhelmed by all the information but would recommend her to anyone. Porto food tour was great, maybe a tad too long as it took nearly four hours. Our guide was fabulous. Private car transfers were wonderful - drivers were on time, and professional.

The best outing was having dinner in a private home in Lisbon. Everyone should try it.

The total package created by Rita was the best it could be. She provided the best experiences that gave us culture, history, food and wine and fun. Thank you Rita!
