El Rey Moro Hotel Boutique, Seville

Standard
Charming hotel in a 16th-century manor house with an incredibly well-preserved inner courtyard and patio

Overview

Set in the city center on a pedestrian street, El Rey Moro Hotel Boutique has one of the most charming inner courtyards, restored from the 16th century. Besides relaxing in the courtyard, enjoy meals at the onsite restaurant, 24/7 drinks at the bar, late afternoon snacks, and free bikes to explore the city. Upgrade your room to get a fresher look, or opt for a suite to soak in your in-room Jacuzzi tub.

Pros
  • Set in a 16th-century manor house, the hotel's inner courtyard is one of the most picturesque in the city, featuring three floors of wood balconies dripping with plants.
  • The family that owns the hotel worked for five years to restore the building, and the staff will be happy to tell the story.
  • Relax on the patio, enjoy your meals at the onsite restaurant serving traditional Andalusian cuisine, including tapas and Mediterranean dishes, and grab a drink at the 24/7 bar.
  • Some rooms have historical elements, like wood-beamed ceilings and antique furnishings, while the suites feature in-room Jacuzzis.
  • Walkable to almost everywhere in the city, the hotel is perfectly located just five minutes from the Royal Alcázar and Catedral de Sevilla.
  • The hotel can arrange nearby parking, and you can use their bikes to explore the city for free.
Cons
  • The hotel isn't great for families of young children, as the minimum age is 12 years old.
  • The standard rooms feel like they could use an upgrade.

Authenticity

It's hard not to feel instantly charmed by El Rey Moro Hotel Boutique since the property restored its beautiful 16th-century inner courtyard. You can sit outside among the history, with dark-wood beams, ceilings, and balconies covered in leafy plants and facing a brick wall.

Location

This boutique hotel has an ideal location right down the street from the Jardines de Murillo that connect to the Royal Alcázar, the entrance being a quick five-minute walk away. Five minutes also gets you to the Cathedral, and it's just 15 minutes to Plaza de España. To top it all off, a few steps out of the hotel puts you among some of the best tapas bars in the city.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Some standard rooms feel a little outdated, so we suggest bypassing those and opting for the comfort, deluxe, superior, or suite categories. Some feature historical elements, like wood-beamed ceilings and antique furnishings, and the suites offer in-room Jacuzzis. Keep in mind that many rooms open to the inner courtyard, so ask for one facing the street if you'd like a quieter stay.

Other Highlights

The patio is the hotel's main highlight, but there are a few other perks you can enjoy. The onsite restaurant serves traditional Andalusian cuisine (plus tapas and Mediterranean dishes) and keeps its bar open 24/7. Enjoy complimentary snacks in the evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and grab a bike from the reception (free of charge) to explore the city.
