• Every suite is large, with floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors that open to amazing volcano views. You'll also find a personal hot tub in every room, primely placed to take in the views as you soak.
• You'll have access to seven hot springs on-site as well as the Titokú hot springs, a free shuttle bus ride away.
• You can book yourself in for a spa treatment at Neidín, from massage to body wraps, get in a workout at the hotel's modest gym, or play a round of table tennis in the game room.

• While there are two restaurants offering a diverse menu and a couple of bars (one serving light snacks), there aren't any alternative dining options close by.
• The pool is on the smaller side with minimal lounge chairs.

Authenticity

Arenal Kioro Suites & Spa offers a genuine Costa Rican experience, given its rainforest setting amid 27 acres (11 ha) of rolling forest, flanked by La Palma and Kioro streams, and bordering Arenal Volcano National Park. With so much surrounding nature, the hotel leverages sustainability practices to protect and preserve the land from solar panels and on-site sewage treatment to energy conservation systems and a recycling program. Guests can wander the property's paths to take in the local flora and birdlife and dine on Costa Rican fare, including regional favorites like rice and beans, cassava, and fresh (local) fruits. 

Location

Located off the main road that passes through La Fortuna (Highway 142), Arenal Kioro Suites & Spa is a quiet retreat that's also conveniently close to a few attractions. It's also the closest property to the Arenal volcano, so you'll have some of the best views of the cone. The hotel is less than a 10-minute drive from Titokú Hot Springs, a 4-minute drive to Tabacón Hot Springs, and about 18 minutes to the volcano. However, to access alternative dining options or shops, you'll have to drive about 15 minutes to reach downtown La Fortuna (you can't walk). 

Rooms & Bathrooms

The 50+ suites at Arenal Kioro are spacious with cathedral ceilings, two Juliet balconies, roomy hot tubs, and floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall windows that beautifully frame the volcano and surrounding nature. They're decorated with the location in mind, bold textiles and tropical artwork, Spanish terracotta-hued tiles, dark wood accents and furniture, and soft yellow walls. That said, of the three suite types, the Kioro Suites have undergone recent renovations, using a color scheme that is more contemporary and airy, as evident in the cream walls and tiled floors, light-colored wicker furniture, and slat wood feature walls.

Amenities

Perks include the seven hot spring pools connected by waterfalls and shielded by dense foliage and free access to nearby Titokú Hot Springs via the complimentary shuttle bus. There's an outdoor freeform pool surrounded by a small deck area and a few loungers with a kiddie pool, a small gym, and a games room with billiards, foosball, and table tennis. Enjoy dining at the two restaurants, the all-day Heliconias serving a buffet breakfast (included in the room rate) and casual poolside Orquídeas. You can order a drink from either Bar El Higueron near the hot springs or Sport Bar Carajillos, and for extra pampering, head to the Neidín Spa.

Family-Friendliness 

Families can choose the appropriately named Family Suite option, featuring two queen beds. In addition to a daybed, parents can request a cot (if available). There's also the entertaining games room and kiddie pool to occupy the littles, and a babysitting service is available for an additional charge.

Wildlife

Guests at Arenal Kioro can keep an eye out for wildlife with opportunities to spot various birds, including the resident great curassow, from the comfort of their rooms or while exploring the hotel's gardens.
