Authenticity

Hotel La Pradera, established in 1990, had its initial building of only five rooms. Today, you'll find a small expansion to 28 rooms, but still a quaint property adorned with local artwork. The hotel is rustic and committed to showcasing Costa Rican culture.

Location

Hotel La Pradera is five minutes from downtown La Fortuna, off the main road on the way to Arenal Volcano National Park. You'll be near local restaurants and attractions, yet just a 23-minute drive from the park and volcano. Other attractions within driving distance include Fortuna Waterfall, Kalambu Hot Springs, and El Salto Rope Swing, all less than 10 minutes by car.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Though simple and slightly outdated, the rooms at Hotel La Pradera offer a homely and comfortable atmosphere. You can choose from 20 Standard options or one of the eight Premium Rooms for more privacy and space. The Premium units also feature high ceilings and outdoor patios with rocking chairs for a cozy, relaxed vibe. Some even offer views of the nearby volcano. 

Wildlife

The hotel's gardens are manicured rather than natural, so travelers are less likely to see wildlife here than at some other properties in the area. However, hummingbirds are often spotted in the gardens and from the rooms' terraces.

Amenities

The hotel has two pools and a covered hot tub; the main pool has a faux waterfall feature, and the smaller kids' pool is a few steps away. There’s lots of seating and terrific volcano views around the adjacent terrace. A games room features a bar, a billiards table, and foosball. There's a large souvenir store beside the entrance to the hotel . Accessible rooms are available for guests with limited mobility, and all rooms are in single-story buildings. 

Family-Friendliness

Kids over five are welcome here, but not infants or toddlers. Standard Rooms can accommodate up to three people, and Mountain Cabins can accommodate up to four people, while some Standard Rooms are adjoining to accommodate larger parties. Cribs and extra beds are not available. Younger kids can enjoy the smaller outdoor pool that's designed for them. The spacious lawns and grounds are ideal for kids to play in. Kids can also enjoy playing table soccer and billiards in the games room. 

Other Highlights

The restaurant serves local and international food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is included for both room types and consists of Costa Rican, American, and continental options. The restaurant is on a covered terrace that overlooks the gardens and volcano. The attached bar serves beer, wine, and liquor.
