Great location within walking distance of all key things to see and do
We loved this hotel. Wonderful staff and delicious food. The rooms were large and beautifully decorated. Great central location for Lagos.
Overview
Coastal chic is the theme at Lagos Avenida Hotel, an adults-only boutique property that overlooks the marina in central Lagos. Guests will find the historic Old Town within easy walking distance, and countless Algarve beaches are under 10 minutes away by car. The hotel's 40+ rooms feature stylish, stripped-down interiors with pale wood and linen accents, balconies or terraces, and views of the city or marina. Amenities include a multilevel rooftop with a heated saltwater infinity pool and bar, plus a complimentary breakfast and the acclaimed Avenida restaurant, helmed by a Michelin-starred chef.
Kimkim's Take
- You'll enjoy a prime location directly overlooking the marina in central Lagos, with the Old Town and several beaches within easy reach.
- The multilevel rooftop includes a heated saltwater pool and a small, stylish bar.
- Rooms have chic, stripped-down interiors with linen and natural wood accents, balconies or terraces, and views over the city or the marina.
- Book a table at the acclaimed on-site Avenida restaurant for local seafood and modern Portuguese dishes.
- The complimentary breakfast is a perennial hit with past guests, featuring a lavish assortment of buffet and a la carte options.
- The open-plan bathroom layouts maximize space and light, but some travelers may want more privacy.
- The hotel doesn't allow children under 12, so families will want to look elsewhere.
Authenticity
There's a touch of mid-century Miami to the exterior of Lagos Avenida Hotel, with balconies stacked up a stark white facade and crowned by a turquoise rooftop pool. Step inside, and you'll find a unique brand of barefoot luxury, with decor that features organic textures like seagrass, sisal, driftwood, and washed linen. Metal and stone accents have an aged effect to look like they've been worn by the sea air, and nature-inspired art pieces feel plucked from the Algarve surroundings. The coastal theme continues in the on-site restaurant, where fresh seafood gets the haute cuisine treatment from a Michelin-starred chef.
Location
Situated directly across from the marina in central Lagos, the hotel offers a prime location for exploring both the city and the surrounding beaches of the Algarve. A 10-minute stroll takes you into the heart of the Old Town, where you'll find plenty of restaurants, cafés, and boutiques, as well as historic sites like the Castelo dos Governadores and the 16th-century fortified city walls. Beaches like Praia Dona Ana, Meia Praia, and Praia do Canavial are all under 10 minutes away by car. The Faros Airport is an hour's drive, and there's limited parking available on-site at the hotel at an additional cost (including EV chargers).
Rooms & Bathrooms
You'll find more airy, stripped-down decor throughout the 40+ light-filled Double and Superior rooms, with breezy linen curtains, fluffy white bedding, and woven throw rugs softening the custom wood furniture and aged metal accents. The modern bathrooms feature a unique, open-plan design tucked behind a glass partition, which means light and space are optimized but privacy can be an issue for some travelers. State-of-the-art air-conditioning throughout all the rooms keeps things pleasantly cool in the summer, and all rooms feature private terraces or balconies, with either city or marina views.
Amenities
The hotel's multilevel rooftop is its crowning feature, complete with a heated saltwater infinity pool, a petite rooftop bar, and dazzling views over the marina and the coast. Downstairs, the lavish complimentary breakfast is a perennial hit with guests, offered daily with a large selection of buffet and a la carte options. For lunch and dinner, the acclaimed Avenida restaurant serves elevated Portuguese dishes with an emphasis on local seafood—nab a spot at the counter for the full experience of watching the Michelin-starred chef in action.Family-Friendliness
