Melia Cala Galdana, Menorca
Beachfront hotel in a cove with three pools, three eateries, a kids' club, and sea views
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- Right on the beach at Cala Galdana, the location is perfect for a relaxing experience in Menorca, and the hotel connects directly to the Camí de Cavalls walking trail.
- Though the property accommodates families and has a fun kids' club, there's also an adults-only area called Level, which has a private pool, lounge, workspace, and complimentary drinks and snacks.
- Most rooms offer sea views, and all have a furnished terrace overlooking the beach, garden, or hotel grounds.
- A beautiful garden surrounds the two outdoor pools, open to all ages, with a sundeck, and there's another adults-only pool in the Level area.
- There are three eateries on the property, including a beach club serving Mediterranean food, an Italian restaurant, and a buffet with lots of variety—and all offer the option to dine outside.
- The rooms are fairly simple for a luxury property without the look or feel of a typical 5-star hotel.
- Unlike most other luxury hotels on the island, there isn't a spa.
- Though the hotel feels relaxing overall, it's huge (nearly 350 rooms) and can get crowded and busy in the high season.
Authenticity
Meliá owns and operates several hotels, so you'll find a similar vibe here as in other locations. Though the rooms feel simple for luxury accommodation, they do a good job channeling Menorca's relaxed, calm, and inviting vibe with soft, neutral tones. The restaurants and common areas do the same, making the most out of this picturesque location by offering plenty of sea views and relaxing spaces.Location
This hotel sits directly on the picturesque Platja de Cala Galdana and the beach's waterfront promenade lined with pine trees. This pathway is part of Menorca's Camí de Cavalls, a trail that wraps around the island. Just a few minutes on foot takes you to several eateries, and you can reach several scenic viewpoints in just 10-20 minutes of walking. You'll find the trail leading to the beautiful Cala Mitjana just behind the hotel, a 20-minute hike.Rooms & Bathrooms
The rooms are straightforward and comfortable, with a simple aesthetic of neutral tones and basic furnishings. All have a furnished balcony, with most offering sea views, though others have views of the garden or hotel grounds. The Level rooms are a step up and have a separate lounge area with complimentary drinks, tapas, and aperitifs, plus an adults-only pool. Some Level rooms add perks like antique furnishings, seating areas, and spacious terraces with sunbeds and private hot tubs.Other Highlights
Melia Cala Galdana offers spaces for both families and those who want a quieter experience. You'll find two outdoor pools open for kids and an adults-only pool at the Level rooms. There are also three eateries at the hotel and a kids' club with toys, games, and outdoor space.Like what you see?
