The dining experiences at the hotel are exceptional, focusing on organic, local, and fresh ingredients. The hotel's spa services further enhance its authentic and personalized touch.

Location

The hotel is located in the beautiful region of Monteverde, Costa Rica. It's close enough to the town for you to easily access local restaurants and shops, though you'll be on a hill, so walking back could take more effort. But the trade-off is surreal sunset views that you can enjoy from the rooftop bar. Right next door is a treetop fine dining eatery, and driving to nearby sites, like Sky Adventures Park, takes just about 12 minutes. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

The hotel offers 21 rooms divided into three categories. Each room is thoughtfully designed for guest comfort, featuring furniture designed and made by local artisans. The rooms come with partial views and access to balconies, allowing you to enjoy the mountainous surroundings. While there's no air-conditioning due to the mild climate, the hotel is considering adding units in the future. The rooms also have strong noise insulation with thick walls and windows, ensuring your privacy. 

Wildlife

The Monteverde Cloud Forest surrounding the hotel has incredible biodiversity and often brings wildlife near or onto the property. In particular, travelers have enjoyed their stays during the fall migratory bird season, when many bright plumages can be spotted while relaxing at the hotel's rooftop bar. Most rooms have balconies facing the hotel's gardens, where you're likely to spot wildlife as well. 

Amenities

Ocotea Boutique Hotel has limited amenities - there's no gym or pool available - but you can schedule massages at the on-site Lauracea Massage. Still, the hotel does provide all the basic comforts, including parking, WiFi, and laundry. Accessible rooms are available on the ground floor for travelers with limited mobility, though there's no elevator to reach the common areas on the upper floors. 

Family-Friendliness

The hotel isn't a great option for families as children must be at least 10 years old, most rooms are quite small, and there are no special amenities for children. If you do decide to stay at the hotel with a teenager, you'll want to book either the Sotobosque or Dosel room types, as they offer two queen-size beds and allow up to four people.

Nectandra Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while the hotel's bar, Monteverde Rooftop, is open in the afternoons and evenings and offers panoramic views of the Monteverde Cloud Forest and the Gulf of Nicoya.
