S'Alquería Blanca, Mallorca
Charming agriturismo nestled in the Serra de Tramuntana, offering traditional Mallorcan rooms, a pool, and a fireplace lounge
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- Olive trees and mountain views surround the beautiful setting.
- The outdoor pool is truly idyllic, surrounded by rocky hilltops, trees, sunloungers, and a view of the hotel's historic building.
- There are quite a few shared spaces, including a terrace lounge, a fireplace lounge, and sprawling gardens.
- Enforced quiet hours between 10 pm and 8 am add to the peaceful atmosphere.
- You'll need a rental car to get around the area, as you'll be in the countryside.
- The breakfast is quite simple for an agriturismo hotel.
- Dinner is only available twice a week.
- Travelers left mixed reviews about the friendliness and availability of staff.
Additional Notes
Driving to the property felt like entering a secret place no one knows about. The building is striking in its landmark architecture, and the gardens and views are lovely. I adored the historical decor of the rooms and hotel in general, but the highlight for me was the surrounding nature, which you can enjoy with outdoor dining by candlelight.Authenticity
It doesn't get much more authentic than staying in a renovated farmhouse near the Serra de Tramuntana mountains. The hotel mixes elements of rustic island style into its architecture and design, offering guests a quiet and historical experience.Location
If you have a car and want to stay in the countryside, this location is ideal. You'll be 30 minutes from downtown Palma and just 20 minutes from mountainous Valldemossa and the beaches of Sóller. And unlike some rural hotels in Mallorca, getting to the property is pretty simple without needing to twist through narrow roads. Still, guests will enjoy being surrounded by rocky hilltops and olive groves.Rooms & Bathrooms
The rooms are completely renovated and comfortable yet maintain the property's historic charm with wood-beamed ceilings, stone walls, and tile flooring. All provide air-conditioning, heating, and minifridges, though upgraded rooms add perks like private sun terraces and seating areas with chairs and sofas. Overall, the bathrooms feel a bit dated but are surprisingly spacious for a historic property. Book the private house for more space, a separate bedroom, a cozy living room with a fireplace, and a garden with sun loungers and hammocks.Amenities
Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, cozy common spaces, an elaborate garden, and a historic olive mill used for events, including twice-weekly dinners. There's no poolside food or drink service, but there's lounge space beside the pool. There's no spa or gym at Alquería Blanca, and the property isn't wheelchair accessible.Family-Friendliness
The hotel isn't particularly family-friendly. In this country setting, the paths and stairs at the property are not stroller-friendly, either. Cribs are available for kids aged two and under at no additional charge; cots for older kids cost extra. The best accommodations for families are Superior Rooms or Junior Suites with a terrace where an extra cot may be added—or the two-bedroom house.Other Highlights
One main draw of staying at an agriturismo hotel is the food, and Alqueria Blanca delivers. An a la carte breakfast is complimentary, though lunch isn't served on-site. Dinner (available twice a week, with reservations required) is served in a romantic setting on an outdoor patio, in the former stone-wall olive mill, or a dining area with an antique cast-iron chandelier and a fireplace. There's no bar, but wine may be ordered with dinner.Like what you see?
