Standing on the waterfront of Reykjavík's harbor next to the Harpa Concert Hall, The Reykjavík Edition offers a luxurious and cozy stay in the center of the city. Ian Schrager, the Studio 54 co-founder who created the boutique hotel concept in 1984, launched his series of EDITION hotels in partnership with the Marriott. Behind the hotel's modern black facade representing Iceland's volcanic landscape, you'll find 250+ rooms with a warm minimalist style featuring custom-made furniture and local textiles. Most have floor-to-ceiling windows, while some have balconies overlooking the harbor, Harpa, or the courtyard. Several have two beds, and interconnecting options are also available. Bathrooms include rainfall showers and custom Le Labo toiletries, while suites have a separate bathtub. The most luxurious option is the Penthouse Suite, which has a marble bathroom, fireplace, and terrace with ocean and mountain views.

Schrager's initial idea for the boutique hotel was to get people to socialize in the lobby and other common areas, and The Reykjavík Edition follows that vision by offering a number of cozy and chic places to hang out. Sample modern Icelandic cuisine at Tides, the on-site restaurant led by Michelin star chef Gunnar Karl Gíslason. The rooftop terrace offers panoramic views, or you can ask the staff for the password to the hotel's secret speakeasy bar, Tölt. The spa includes a juice and smoothie bar, treatment rooms, and a hammam.
