We had the most wonderful time in Morocco. Sharon was amazing in her responsiveness and helpfulness during the planning process. And we can’t say enough about our driver/ guide extraordinaire, Amnay.
Amnay was a joy to be with, incredibly helpful in showing us his Morocco, and we appreciated all he did for us during our adventures.

We would highly recommend Morocco Immersions and Kim Kim!

Our trip to Morocco was amazing from beginning to end. Our driver/guide, Karim, was fantastic -- knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating, funny. We felt so lucky to have had him as our guide. He seemed to know someone at every stop, which meant that our trip was smooth sailing.

We especially enjoyed Karim's expertise with the mountains and the lives of nomads and appreciated his willingness to share his own experiences. We loved our hike with Mohammad in the Atlas Mountains (Monkey Fingers hike) and the lunch afterward with him and his wife and Karim. All of the local guides were knowledgeable and friendly.

Even though we opted for accommodations that were more moderate in cost, the accommodations were comfortable and delightful at every stop. We especially enjoyed the Tiziri Luxury Camp in the desert near Merzouga and our last stop in Essouira at Riad Mimouna, which was just lovely. Our room was right over the ocean, with views and ocean wave sounds from both sides. We wished we had another day there.

Before the trip, Abdellah and Said were great at communicating, answering questions, and responding to requests for changes. I appreciated that Abdel stayed in contact (without being pushy) throughout the period from March 2020 to October 2022, when we had to reschedule and then reschedule again.

Thank you Karim, Abdel and Said!

I want to emphasize that we really liked our driver (I think his name was Mohammad) and appreciated the information he imparted at every stop and also about himself and his life. He was wonderful. On balance, however, I think we would have skipped this day and spent another day in Essouira. The tea in the Bedouin tent was not really with the Bedouins and just felt kind of sad. Their lives are so hard and this stop felt somewhat voyeuristic. The other stops -- at the mining area and at the dance place -- were not that interesting to us. Again, not the fault of the driver.

We were amazed at the good quality roads all over the country but especially in Rabat and Casablanca. We were blown away by the internet connectivity, even in the remotest villages and deep canyons.
Our accommodation was in all instances very good and above our expectations. Here I must mention that our best stay was at Chez Ichou in Boumalne Dades. The food was exceptional and the service, was by far, the best in all Morocco.

Our Top 3 memories from this trip were:
1. The hike at Akchour Park in Chefchaouen, where we drank mint tea next to the cascading waterfalls.
2. The desert camel trek in Merzouga.
3. The cooking class in Essaouira at Khadija’s Kuzina.

We are also glad that you enjoyed your hike in Akchour, your cooking class in Essaouira, and the camel trek in the desert. We also appreciate the feedback regarding the SUVs and quads that you encountered there - we know that this can be a problem during the busy times of year and we did pass on your feedback to the management team of the camp (even though the vehicles of note were not from that particular camp). With that exception, though, we are happy that Morocco exceeded your expectations in many ways and that your journey was relaxed and pleasant.

Working with Mohamed and Said through kimkim to plan our trip to Morocco was seamless. They answered our (many) questions promptly and went out of their way to accommodate all of our itinerary changes and special requests - both before we left and once we landed.

We travelled to Morocco for 12 days and covered a lot of ground! The highlights were definitely seeing the sand dunes in Merzouga as well as the beautiful cities of Chefchaouen, Fez, and Marrakesh. At each of our locations, Mohamed and Said arranged for us to stay in spectacular riads, specifically in Chefchaouen and Skoura and the amazing Hotel de Arabe in Marrakech whose hamam was beyond!

Most importantly, our trip would not have been the same if not for our AMAZING driver Ilyace. Throughout our 12 days together he was an absolute pleasure; quite apart from being the world’s smoothest driver he is kind, engaging, informative, has a huge heart and a great sense of humour.
He shared a lot of interesting information about the country, answered our countless questions about all things Morocco and was incredibly accommodating and flexible when we wanted to make impromptu stops, spend more or less time at different places.

Thank you Ilyace, Said and Med for all you did to make this such a great trip!!!

Mövenpick Hotel Casablanca
Casablanca

Front desk staff was pleasant, the room was clean and bed comfortable but this hotel, that aspires to look modern - is dark and dim. Rooms are spacious but plumbing was poor (sink barely drained) and tbh, in 2022 no hotel room should have carpeted floors. When we arrived in the early evening (after a long day of driving) we were told that we could get something to eat on the rooftop patio. This turned out to be essentially a smokers lounge with a pool - positioned in the middle of the patio - empty of water. Location is central. Hotel lobby and rooms were heavily scented.

This Riad and its grounds were incredibly beautiful. Unlike many other accommodations in the city it is located up on the hill with unreal views of Chefchaouen. No need to go for a hike elsewhere to see the sunset or sunrise! So, if mobility is an issue this is not the place to stay. There are about 150 stairs up to the Riad - but the view is well worth it. Rooms are sumptuously decorated and large and have amazing balconies that look out to the city. Restaurant was delicious.

Despite its size, hotel has a very personal, warm approach, and excellent staff who go out of their way for hotel guests. Facilities are beyond beautiful and the breakfast - served in a gorgeous courtyard - was fantastic. Rooms are large and bed was the most comfortable one of our trip (ditto the uber-cushy slippers and robes). I waited until we got to this hotel for my hammam and it was well worth the wait. We LOVED this Riad. While we stayed at several beautiful places on our trip, Samina, Greggy and the rest of the staff at Riad Chbanate were beyond wonderful. Personable and kind, they made us feel incredibly welcome - just like family. For breakfast, there is no menu, just the hosts, asking what you would like to eat and accommodating any and all requests and restrictions. Homemade breakfasts made in the kitchen (open for all to see on the main floor - just like home - what could be better?!) To boot, staff made excellent resto suggestions and very generously invited our two adult sons to join us for breakfast ( who were staying at a nearby hostel)! Rooms are spacious, immaculate, beautifully decorated and have fantastic bathrooms with huge tubs and showers. A very special place - and definitely our favourite Riad of the vacation.

It would have been nice if our guide, Hanan, had asked us for feedback about the food we had eaten since we had arrived, and/or what we were interested in eating, or trying. Essentially, they were a set number of stops in the Medina which she had planned in advance, and much of the food we had during the “tour” we had already eaten during our time in Morocco. There was only one “stop” (of five) that was a unique and tasty experience. One example: our guide stopped at a bakery and selected a number of cookies for us to eat. When I saw what she was doing, I went into the bakery, and asked about some of the items, but at no point did she ask me for input or if I thought there was anything we wanted to try. Similarly, she was aware that we had drank fresh juices earlier in the trip but still ended the tour with a trip to the juice counters - as this was something she had decided in advance we were going to do. It felt very routine and impersonal.

Our staff always do their best to provide the best possible service to our guests and live up to their expectations, and we are glad that this commitment was reflected in your visit.

We are, however, sorry to hear about your experience in Boumalne Dades. We have been proposing this accommodation for our guests many years ago and we have never received any negative feedback about it. It's not really convenient that your guide in Fes pushed you to make purchases, it's really strange of him. I have contacted the hotel responsible in Dades valley and your guide in Fes as well and they promised that such situations wouldn't take place again. We have implemented a new communication system for our booking manager to double-check with hotels, transportation suppliers, and tour guides to assure that all the aspects of comfort are provided.

Sorry again for any inconvenience and looking forward to having you again in our country.

Best Wishes,
Abdellah

Tucked away near the Sahara Desert the hotel was unique in its decor, history and welcoming ambience. The grounds are beautiful and rooms quite spacious and colourful following the Moroccan theme. Breakfast was ample but we did see a bit of a shortage of food on the buffet. Possibly due to the presence of a large group of bike riders in house at the time.

We took a camel ride to the camp. The tents were very quirky with ensuite and comfortable beds. We did have a couple or power outages but soon transferred to the generator. Food was typical Moroccan and finished off with a drumming demo from the cooks, camel owners and drivers.

Authentic Moroccan Dar but has its limitations. The rooms were very small. There were no locks on the bedroom doors. The breakfast was served on the top floor which was a challenge for me as I had an injury. Nobody spoke English so a bit hard to communicate. Our friends ran out of toilet paper.

For us, sleeping in the desert was a dream come true. It was always on our bucket list, but being there and feeling the desert and its surrounding went beyond what we had imagined. The camel ride to the tents was spectacular as we rode during sunset, and while sunrise was cloudy, feeling the presence of the day, made up for it. The tent had all the facilities of a hotel room, and the evening dinner and entertainment capped off a perfect event.

He took the time to explain local customs and foods to us so we were able to understand the how's and why's behind the new experiences we were having. I hope we are able to return to Morocco in the future. If you are looking to make some wonderful memories Fes was an ancient city with all the hustle and bustle you would imagine with history around every corner. Chefchaouen is a breathtaking blue gem nestled in the mountains that will simply take your breath away. Tangier was much more modern, but an absolute treat. The coastline and beaches are world class and a great way to relax.

Riad Ghita
Fes

Riad Ghita is tucked away close to the Medina in Fes. The building is stunning and is filled with history and culture. The family running the Riad was so friendly and helpful with everything, including our 0200 am arrival. Breakfast was fresh, and we ate dinner there one night. It was extraordinary. We would 100% stay here again.

Hotel Farah Tanger
Tangier

Hotel Farah was the only let down of the trip. Supposedly this is a 5 star hotel, the forst 5 star I've ever stayed in, but it was enormously disappointing. The entrance, lobby, and common areas are all stunning and very clean. The staff was not rude, but very indifferent to my wife and I, our questions, and concerns. Our room was absolutely filthy. The carpet was stained in multiple locations. There was some type of crust on the carpet, maybe dried gum of some sort. The bathroom door had some kind of thick gunk or sludge on it. As if someone had smudged caramel or chocolate sauce on it. There were no towels in the bathroom. As we arrived and bellhop helped us with luggage into the room, the door was open and one of the housekeeping staff was using our bathroom. After seeing the state of the room we asked to be moved, and they said there was no where to move us. They offered to have housekeeping come back up and clean the room. After the second cleaning the carpet was still filthy, vacuuming doesn't get out stains, there were still bits of loose dirt and debris under the desk, and the gunk on the door was still there clearly visible. We contacted Said with Kimkim, and sent him photos of the room, who promptly reached out to the hotel to get things fixed. The hotel staff lied and told him everything was taken care of and that they moved us into an upgraded room. They did not. They never even spoke with my wife or myself about changing or upgrading rooms. The bed was clean, and we were tired as this was our last stop on our vacation, so we did not press any further to change rooms or hotels. We cleaned the room ourselves as best we could and spent most if our time in the city, only sleeping in the room. Tangier was amazing, but unfortunately the hotel was not the relaxing experience we wanted prior to our 21hrs of travel to return home. I would 100% visit Tangier again, but I would never stay in this supposed 5 star hotel again. This same review will be posted on trip advisor and I will include the photos.

Authenticity & Character
Much more modern property. They seem to try and mesh the classic Moroccan styles with modern. Common ares looked and felt impressive.
Location
Beautiful location. Not exactly close to the market area or Port. Not many restaurants in walking distance.
Staff
Understanding cultural differences in service and friendliness, hotel still had abysmal hospitality. When the front desk staff makes eye contact with you as you walk in to check in, then leave the front desk, no words, no explanation, and take 5 minutes to return its not a good sign. This happened multiple times. Staff at the restaurant and coffee bar simply sat on their phones and didn't acknowledge us we entered the open, but completely empty eateries.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Dirty room, dirty floor, damaged walls and furniture, no towels. Much longer description in overall review of hotel.

We are a group of 6 – (3 couples) – who wished to squeeze in a 5-day trip to Morocco – an opportunity that was not to be missed during our travels in Spain and Portugal. Sharon put together a great package in northern Morocco that truly was an immersion in the Moroccan culture. A short 1-hour ferry ride from Tarifa port in Spain took us to Tangier, and in each location – Tangier, Chefchaouen, and Fez – we stayed in the ancient part of the city and our overnight accommodations were in converted homes of wealthy families. Clean, basic, and functional rooms that fit our budget. We were amazed at the size, beauty, and facilities of these homes once you were inside – including rooftop and garden decks - from the street or laneway the access is an unassuming door or gate!
From pickup to drop-off at the port, we were transported in a newish and comfortable Renault 9-passenger van by a very pleasant driver – Abdol – who had good English language abilities and could not have been more helpful in ensuring our comfort and answering our many questions.
Hands down the best tour guide that we experienced was Said - educated in New York and spoke perfect English. Said took us on a tour of the ancient city of Fez – including the famous tanneries, the mosque, and the massive medina (market). So interesting with all the cultural texture and historical facts that Said provided along the way.
Throughout the process, we cannot say enough about Sharon. The tour was efficiently arranged and within our desired budget. She was so responsive when we contacted her with questions, and her answers were clear and informative. Even a last-minute change to a different riad than had been first booked was handled smoothly.
We are so pleased we experienced this amazing destination, and we would highly recommend Morocco Immersion Tours & Adventures to anyone planning a trip there.

Guide/Drivers: Hamid. Could not be better. Excellent safe driver, very good English, rich knowledge of places, history, customs. Always available (really, always!). Kept the car impeccably clean. Just perfect. Possibly the best driver/guide we ever had in our may years of world travels.

Guides: only three(Volubilis, Fes, and Marrakesh): all excellent.

Hotels/Riads: generally good to very good. In Rabat the service was poorly organized. The owner Aziz was mostly absent and left things in the hands of a very pleasant lady who did her best but did not know much of anything. I would not use it again. In Fes the place was great, but service was non-existent. Ouarzazate had the best combination of a nice place and excellent, attentive service. Marrakesh was also very good (location, facilities, and service). Our hotel in Casablanca was modern and clean, with standard American-like facilities. However, its location was poor and we could not even walk outside because the neighborhood had little or nothing to offer. A place by the ocean would have made our night in Casablanca more preasant.

Visits/excursions: all excellent. Well-chosen, interesting, well-organized visits. Zero negatives here!

Overall: a very satisfactory trip. The country is beautiful, all people we met were exceedingly polite and friendly and we experience no unpleasant events of any kind. We had read some highly critical reviews with alleged cheating, harassment, etc. We walked a lot on our own, day and night, asked for directions, talked to ordinary people (we speak French, which made it easier to reach a wider segment of the population), ate street food, and were always met with great kindness. Even shopping is a nice experience, bargaining is conducted with a light attitude and even if we decided not to buy something after some negotiations, we never experienced the anger or hostility we have seen in other countries.

Megan and Wanderlust were flexible, cooperative, and ready to make some changes when we asked them to do so. We are completely satisfied with the experience!

The desert and Camp Tiziri was a lifetime favorite memory, but the entire trip was amazing. Our driver Samir was so kind and went out of his way to make us comfortable. Our local guides Oosama (Marrakesh) and Adil (Fes) were so friendly and great with the kids as well.

Abdel and Said were so patient as we planned and asked questions. Thank you to the entire team for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in beautiful Morocco!

Tiziri Luxury Camp

Tiziri Camp is one of our favorite experiences/places to stay EVER! We felt at home as soon as we arrived and the staff was so welcoming at every turn. The tents are so comfortable and even luxurious! The staff prepares delicious meals and was so accommodating for our whole family - they helped our kids sandboard, arranged for us to visit a pool during the day and played Berber music in the evenings. We stayed 2 nights and would definitely recommend! 1 night would have been too short to fully enjoy the experience!

We loved this hotel run by two amazing brothers! It was raining when we arrived, and they came to our van to welcome us and help carry our bags in. We felt at home right away! One of the brothers is the chef and prepares truly amazing meals. We had dinner and then breakfast. Our rooms faced the street (back rooms have a nice view) but we arrived after dark so wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the view anyway. We would have loved to stay here longer! The back terrace and pool looked beautiful. The beautifully furnished rooms, top-notch food and warm hospitality are not to be missed!

Our local guide Oosama did a great job showing us around Marrakesh. He patiently answered our questions and was great with our kids (even carrying our 4-year-old!). We loved touring the city with him, and he knew so many people as we walked around - that gave the tour a really authentic feel! Oosama felt like a friend showing us around his city.

We loved walking around the gardens! They are incredibly beautiful, and our kids enjoyed the animals as well (koi fish, turtles, frogs). We also really loved the YSL Museum even though we don’t know anything about fashion. The dresses are beautiful, and even our two older kids enjoyed it! This was definitely a highlight and not to be missed. Our driver recommended going early (9am) and we’re thankful for that - the gardens got busier as the morning went on.

We loved walking around Ait Ben Haddou. Our driver Samir arranged a local guide (Aziz). Aziz was awesome! He was very patient with our kids and we learned a lot about the ruins. This was fascinating to see! We didn’t have much time in Ourzazatte so opted to skip the studio tour. I’m sure it would have been fun, but we wanted to get to our hotel in Boulmane Dades before too late in the evening.

We enjoyed learning about the nomad lifestyle. Our guide Hassan was very accommodating, but not the best personality match for our group. We didn’t really interact with the nomad family - Hassan served us tea in their tent. I’m not sure if that is the norm or not. Hassan stopped at a pharmacy for some medicine for our daughter, which was much appreciated! We also enjoyed Berber pizza for lunch!

Our trip to Morocco was amazing, we had a great experience with the Original Travels team. Our driver Ilias who was with us for the whole trip it's an amazing guy, super friendly and always looking to make the best of our stay, he took us to several different places for lunch which we had not have known if it wasn't for him; I think that brought us nearer to a local experience, which we appreciate. The whole itinerary was exactly as described and the hotels were surprisingly more beautiful than in the pictures we saw at the itinerary, which was a very nice surprise. All staff from the hotels and the local tour guides were very friendly and willing to accommodate to any special needs; most of them are fluid in english, french and spanish. We did the whole trip around the country in nine days touching around seven cities, so one thing that I will say is that you should be expecting long transfers by car with the obvious potential changes of itinerary due to traffic, etc. whenever that happened, Ilias our driver, helped us reschedule and rearrange our activities so we did not miss anything, but I do recommend you have an open mind and try to enjoy the most of your road trip. Overall a great experience and I highly recomend the experience with KimKim and Original Travels.

We liked the trip to Morocco arranged by Megan: the itinerary included Marrakech, Essaouira and one night in desert camp. So, we have been able all sides of Morocco: medinas, an ocean, and a desert. We got a private driver with a minibus for 5 persons, although it was a different guy that was mentioned in our agenda, and we called him Hassan while he was Ibrahim during the first day. We lived in several nice riads, liked the service provided there. We liked a lot our trip to Atlas Mountains, although it was not a hiking, but more climbing), and we loved the family who cooked for us a dinner afterwards, it was a delicious tagine. The best surprise for use became an absolutely new and modern desert camp hotel, fully equipped and served by French chef cook. Essaouira was a very nice old city near the ocean, we spent there 2 nights, in the future I would recommend to have only one night there, as it’s relatively small and you can see the top sights within 3 hours. The best Instagram location with blue boats in reality became a challenge for us - it’s located just in the middle of fish market, and it smells like crazy, you should be very fast and have some band on your face to make some pictures and get away from there. Fortunately, pictures do not provide a smell of it. Overall, it was a perfect trip to an ancient cities, another culture, hot weather for us (+35), and everything was arranged on a very good level. Thank you!
